[First Thoughts] Rose in the Embers

“Our love may be forbidden…

But you are all I want. And with a kiss, the walls that stand between you two crumble to dust…

Yours is a love story so shocking it will shake society to its core…

After the transition from the standalone apps to the Love 365 portal app, I kind of fell out of the Voltage Inc. game for awhile. Since the change quite a few new apps have been released, but among the first new apps was the historical fantasy Rose in the Embers  (Romaji Taishō Roman, Unmei no Hito). This is the third historical romance game from Voltage Inc. following on the heels of Sakura Amidst Chaos and Era of Samurai: Code of Love, which were set Sengoku and Bakumatsu Eras, respectively. However, for Rose, Voltage bumped up their timeline a bit, setting the game during the Taisho Era (1912 – 1926).

I’m not really a history buff, but from what I gather the time period continued the Meiji Era’s push towards modernization and more western ideals, modeled after the Victorian era. So there’s this unique blend of Japanese fashion and ideals meshed with the more “modern” Western ideals, which makes for a visually interesting story. So, I was pretty optimistic when I loaded up the prologue in the Love 365 app…

[News] Info about Voltage Inc.’s new Love 365: Find Your Story App & My Thoughts…

I’m a bit late with this post, seeing as the app officially launched yesterday (forgive me, I have to get back into the swing of things), but better late than never…

Love_365_Find_Your_Story_-_Title.jpg

So, Voltage Inc. is following in the footsteps of their Voltage USA branch, by launching another mobile portal app, Love 365: Find Your Story, this time exclusively for their localized titles (ie. Love Letter From Thief X, Code of Love: Era of Samurai, and more). This new app will be the exclusive hub for all of your favorite Voltage Inc titles and the place where the company will release all new stories and apps. Let me repeat that for the folks chatting in the back, all current and future Voltage Inc. titles and stories will be released through the new app, though at this time only a handful of titles have been moved to the new app: Love Letter From Thief XAfter School Affairs, and Era of Samurai: Code of Love.

But don’t worry, this switch is not nearly as awful as the infamous Lovestruck debacale that happened earlier this year. I’m going to do a run down of the Love 365: Find Your Story app and sharing my thoughts on the transition, so let’s get this show on the road!!

I Slept With the Bartender?!: Irresistible Mistakes- Go Okubo Main Story

I misjudged Go in my first review of Irresistible Mistakes, I was fooled by yet another Voltage Inc. character bio, you’d think I’d have learned my lesson by now, but nope… Voltage has Go Okubo billed as a “sweetheart con artist”, which couldn’t have been further from the truth and it’s because of this misleading bio that I almost passed up on one of the best routes in the game.

Go bio

I went into this route expecting it to fail, but after playing that first chapter I was singing a completely different tune! Go blew Toshiaki’s route out of the water and I am not ashamed to admit that this is my new favorite (we’ll see how I feel after I play Toma’s route 😉 )! If you want a general overview of Irresistible Mistakes, click HERE, it’s covers the basic premise of the game and will include links to the other character reviews I will write for the game.

I Slept With an Executive from Work?!: Irresistible Mistakes- Toshiaki Kijima Main Story

After a night of heavy drinking, the MC discovers that she slept with the Accounts Planning Executive, Toshiaki Kijima. Unable to reconcile the Demon Executive with the sweet, loving man she shared a night of passion with, the MC initially dismisses the notion that Toshiaki was the one she’d slept with. But, when he sends her a text asking to meet up at the same bar, she realizes the idea might not be as far-fetched as she originally thought! Is there really more to this cool businessman than meets the eye? Or was that night just a beautiful delusion?

This was the route I was most looking forward to and it did not disappoint. This route was very different from Tachibana’s but in a good way. I can’t see how any of the other routes in the game are going to top this one, it was just so… PERFECT! If you want a general overview of Irresistible Mistakes, click HERE, it’s covers the basic premise of the game and will include links to the other character reviews I will write for the game.

The Guy I Like is Filthy Rich: Kissed By The Baddest Bidder- Eisuke Ichinomiya Review

Out of all of the available guys in this game, Eisuke Ichinomiya is by far my absolute favorite! He is literally the ultimate otome man, with his handsome face and deep pockets, he’s the total package… But, that’s not all there is to him, when you look beyond his good looks and money, Eisuke is one of the sweetest most compassionate men I have ever had the pleasure of romancing in an otome game!

After the MC finds herself up for sale at a secret black market auction, she fears that she will become the plaything of some sick sadistic bastard… But, lo, Eisuke swoops in like an avenging angel to save her from a life of abject servitude and lavishes her with love and affection!
