Fangirl Friday – Heroes, Demon Daddies, and Manga Madness

Hey Blerdy Tribe, how’s your week been? We finally made it to Friday and let me tell you this has been one hell of a week, so ya girl is ready for the weekend! We have this big conference coming up at work next week, so there’s been a bit of an upswing in the amount of requests I’ve had to deal with at work and some of them range from the bizarre—like conspiracy theories about COVID-19 to the mundane—help logging into a member account. It’s a mixed bag, but it definitely makes the work day exciting! So, after a long day of adulting I like to spend my spare time doing things that help me de-stress… like fangirling~

Fangirl Friday isn’t a new feature, rather I’m taking an old segment and putting a bit of a spin on it! Instead of talking about just one topic, this’ll be a space for me to talk about all the stuff I’ve been getting into, ya know aside from playing games! And this week I’ve been catching up on some anime watching and buying manga to fill out my collection!

Fangirl Trash Can Podcast Episode 3

Hey Hey Blerdy Tribe! I announced back in August 2020 that I’d branched out a bit from just writing reviews and jumped into a podcast with ani-bloggers/YouToubers Lita Kino and Shay Taree called the Fangirl Trash Can Podcast!! And we’ve been having a blast! We just dropped our 3rd episode: “Have a Seat at the Dislike Table” where we talk about the anime series and games we’re just not that into~ So give us a listen, you’re bound to have a great time!!

Fangirl Trash Can Podcast Episode 2

Hey Hey Blerdy Tribe! Manga Can’t Sing to Me, So I Watched the ‘Given’ Anime

So while I had a week off from work for the holidays, I decided to break my unofficial anime hiatus by watching, Given—this was of course after I read through the available print manga volumes. But, since manga can’t sing to me I had to watch the anime if I was going to have any reference points for all of the songs.

For those of you that have been living under a rock for the past year, Given is a music themed anime series based on the bimonthly boys love manga series by Natsuki Kizu. The series follows the highs and lows of a four man amateur rock band, and the romantic relationships that form between them. The band is made up of hotheaded prodigy guitarist Uenoyama, ~~fuckboi~~ playboy drummer Akihiko, soft boi bassist Haruki, and the newest addition Mafuyu, a gifted singer still dealing with the weight of a recent tragedy.

There was a lot of buzz surrounding the series when it was released in 2019 and it has not died down since, especially after it was announced that we’re getting a film sometime in 2021. So with the promise of more Given content on the horizon, this felt like as good a time as any to jump on the ol’ bandwagon and see what all the fuss was about… so let’s see if Given stands up to all the hype.

Look Ma, I’m in a Podcast! – Fangirl Trash Can Podcast Episode 1

In case you missed the announcement yesterday—I’m hosting a podcast alongside ani-bloggers/YouToubers Lita Kino and Shay Taree called the Fangirl Trash Can Podcast!! The first episode, Umbrellas, Gods, + Otome dropped on YouTube yesterday and you can tune in monthly for new content from us over on Lita’s YT channel!

I’ll probably share new episodes here when they drop so you guys can listen it! I’m super excited about this project and so glad I can finally share it with you all!!
