30 Day Haikyuu Challenge- Day 6: Favorite Volleyball Position

Alright, Day 6 of the 30 Day Haikyuu Challenge and another day of sweet Haikyuu goodness! Today I’m supposed to write about my favorite volleyball position! *cue jokes*

haikyuu challenge

I never really gave much thought to which position I fancied the most, they all have their merits and while some positions come with a bit more prestige than others, they all are important for a well balanced team. So, I really drew a blank with this prompt… I’m a pretty aggressive person so I rather like offensive positions, but, I’m not really big on team sports in general, so I tend to favor defensive positions whenever I have to participate in real life. I really feel like I just contradicted myself…. oh well, so about that response! Let’s see, my favorite volleyball position is…

 Middle Blocker?!

Yeah, I guess I’d have to go with middle blocker, I mean, there’s nothing wrong with the other positions, I just like how passive aggressive middle blockers can be. Oh, so you think your spike is gonna score? *enter middle blockers* NOPE, not today! They hold it down! Yeah, I know that they can take on both offensive and defensive roles within a volleyball team, but the way they hold it down on the court is simply breath taking!

What is a Middle Blocker?

Middle blockers (also known as middle hitters) can perform both offensive and defensive maneuvers, though typically they are known for being the first line of defense against attacks from the other team. While it isn’t a requirement, most players in this position are usually pretty tall.

When on the defense, middle blockers are usually positioned towards the front center of the net for optimum blocking. They are responsible for stopping their opponents from completing plays and landing points.

When on the offense they specialize in quick attacks or in the case of Hinata, serve as their team’s decoy to help distract opponents. Overall, they are versatile players.

Bokuto thought he was gonna score… nah bruh, not today!

Why I Dig Middle Blockers

Not just anyone can be a middle blocker, it takes a special kind of player to keep those pesky spikes from breaking through their iron defense. Middle blockers are some of the most intelligent players on the team, they don’t just blindly jump around the court, every motion, every action is calculated, they have to be two steps ahead of everyone else! One misstep, could mean the difference between winning and losing, so they always have to be on top of their game! Plus, and this is only coincidence, some of my favorite characters in Haikyuu happen to be middle blockers!

I dunno what to tell you guys, there is just something awesome about middle blockers! But, I wanna hear from you guys, what is your favorite volleyball position? Let me know what you think in the comments section. If you like what you see, like this post or follow Nice Job Breaking It, Hero! As always THANK YOU FOR READING!!

  1. Man this is going to be unpopular but I really don’t dig volleyball. I wish I did since it seems fun but I stank at the sport and anime about it (anything really) makes me relive the horror rofl. I really love soccer and tennis though so I guess defense would be my favorite position (for soccer).

Gush about cute otome boys~
