New Site Updates!

Hey hey Blerdy Tribe! It’s been a bit hectic on my end, so there haven’t been as many posts lately (sorry). But, I have been hard at work in the background playing through game requests, streaming on Twitch, and working on some super secret updates!

As a Black woman I try to promote from within my community, so when I am looking for artists and creators for Blerdy Otome, I prioritize Black creators. We just don’t get as much visibility on mainstream platforms (unless it’s Black History Month) and that’s just not right. So I always try to support my own people when I can here on Blerdy Otome.

A few months ago I was lucky enough to connect with two amazing Black artists and I commissioned them for some new art for my site and Twitch channel. Both Reggie and Celi are some of the best creators that I have worked with, their skill and professionalism far exceeded all my wildest dreams. Both took the vision I had for the designs and made it happen. I can’t thank them enough for all their hard work and patience with this project. They are the BEST!

So, I am happy to reveal some of the updated art that I’ll be using here and on Twitch moving forward!!

Blog Updates

Hey hey everyone! You may have already noticed, but I’m in the process of updating some things here on Blerdy Otome. I made a few changes over the weekend, but this is going to be a much bigger undertaking than I anticipated, so I’ll be taking a blogging break until May 1st 2022. I’ll be back, promise, but I want to make sure everything is in tip top shape!

Some of the changes I’ve already made include:

  • Top menu updates (the addition of a Games tab and combining all reviews into one Review tab)
  • New homepage slider and recent posts feature section.
  • A new Games page that links to specific game details pages
    • Please let me know if anything on any of these pages needs to be updated by Twitter DM or email at blerdyotome@gmail.com
  • A new tab in the top menu that links to my Twitch channel.
  • Updating tags so they’re a bit more manageable.
  • Editing older reviews and posts.

Thank you for your patience while I tackle this!!

Year in Review: A Look Back at 2021 on Blerdy Otome

It’s crazy to think that 2021 is almost over, it kind of feels like this year just started and now 2022 is right around the corner. This year opened up so many amazing opportunities that I never dreamed would be possible when I started this site back in 2015!

So before 2021 kicks the bucket, lets take a look back at 2021 here on Blerdy Otome!

Quick Update – I’m a Finalist in the*gameHERs Awards

Hey Hey Blerdy Tribe! These last few months have been kind of crazy on my end, but in a good way! I’ve been getting my Twitch channel off the ground and I recently started a Discord server to connect with folks away from this site and Twitch–which means content here on Blerdy Otome has been kinda sporadic. I’m slowly finding a good rhythm for everything so I should be back on track next week-ish.

But, today I wanted to share some exciting news with you all! If you follow my socials you probably already know, but around the end of August I found out I was nominated for one of the*GameHERs Awards.

Blerdy Otome Has a Discord!

So, after dragging my feet about it, I broke down and created a discord channel for my blog and for Twitch! I figured it would be a fun idea to connect with folks outside of streams and the blog. Nothing fancy, just a chill space for chill vibes and fun chats! It’s kind of an extension of my Twitch channel, since we tend to have a lot of good discussions that get cut off because I refuse to do a 10 hour stream.

If you’re interested in hanging out on the server, here’s the link: https://discord.gg/XnnQSMfc64

I Started Streaming on Twitch!

Hey there Blerdy Tribe! At the start of the year I said I wanted to dip my toes into the world of streaming on Twitch, but my old laptop wasn’t really up to snuff, so I had to put a pin in that until I got my new rig. But, when I got the new laptop I kept waffling back and forth on starting, because let’s face it I get super nervous speaking in front of people and two I’m a Virgo so I tend to want things to be perfect from the start… and let’s face it when are things perfect the first time around?

So when the lovely folks at Lunaris Games gave me an advanced copy of the first 2 chapters of their supernatural mystery visual novel When the Night Comes ReVamp I figured this was the perfect opportunity to take the plunge! So I did on a Thursday at a weird time with no warning, so I couldn’t back out of it.

I had loads of fun and everyone was super nice and we even had some folks from Lunaris Games in the chat to give some behind the scenes sneak peaks! Of course there were some technical difficulties (like me forgetting to save the broadcast on Twitch), but it was a learning experience and I had a lot of fun! Thankfully I recorded the whole thing and was able to upload it to YouTube… so if you missed out on the stream you can check it out!

I hope to do more streams in the future (I just have to work out schedules and things), but if you wanna get a notification when I do go live, be sure to subscribe to my twitch channel: www.twitch.tv/blerdyotome! Also if you also have a Twitch account drop your deets in the comments so I can give you a follow!

Making Stuff Pretty!

Hey Hey!! I know I’ve been slow with updates this week, I’ve recently taken on more responsibility at work which has kind of put me behind with my hobbies. So, I’m taking this time to make some aesthetic changes to the site, the first of which was a new logo:

Isn’t wonderfully simple?! Yeah, I’m trying this out for a bit to see if I like it, so def let me know what you think.

I’ll also be playing around with some of the pages and the menu, so expect some things to move around or change completely between now and Sunday. I’ll also take this weekend to actually play some games so everything should be back to normal come Monday!

Thank you guys for being patient while I get my stuff taken care of!! You all are the real MVPs!!

Announcing A New Collaboration Project – Otome Fans React!!

Hey Hey Guys and Gals, I just wanted to write up a short announcement post about an upcoming project that I am super excited about and I’m finally ready to talk about it officially. I mentioned in my 2020 resolution post that I had two upcoming projects in the works and while the Otome Debates posts are still in the brainstorming phase. However, I’ve been working on another “super secret” project and after talking with my fellow collaborators, we’re ready for the big reveal!! You may even remember seeing my super vague tweet a little while ago, saying that I was working with five individuals— Tomey from Otome Sweetheart, Hazel from Archi-Anime, Voca from Otome Heaven, and Ruby and Pseudofaux from the Otomates Podcast on an “exciting project”…

2020 is Upon Us… So Here’s An Obligatory Blog Updates & Plans Post!

Happy New Year!! I took a bit of a break for the holidays so I could really spend quality time with my family. I only get to see them once a year so I like to make the most of my time with them when I do make the journey home. I got to spend a lot of time with my youngest brother and Mom, and I managed to get them both hooked on the Netflix series, You. I didn’t really write much when I was home, since I didn’t really feel up to it, however nothing gets you in the mood for writing like a 13 hour train ride. So, I was able to bang out a few posts on the journey home.

New Year New Me.gif

Most of 2019 was a bit hectic for me, what with me constantly switching jobs, which seriously stressed me the hell out. Thankfully the place I was contracting at made me an official offer just before the holidays, so I was able to close out 2019 on a high note! Having a full time job has really taken a huge weight off my shoulders and I really feel much more motivated to write now that I don’t have to worry about job security.

Content to Expect in 2020

There were a lot of things I wanted to accomplish in 2019 that kind of fell to the wayside, but now that things have finally stabilized I’m ready to hit the ground running in 2020. Before the break I ran a poll to gauge the kind of content you guys would like to see from me in 2020 and I wanted to take a moment to break down the results.
