Here we are again with another PokeNews report! We are now seven months into the Pokemon 20th Anniversary Legendary Pokemon Release Event! We’ve seen a host of Pokemon announcements and goodies from Nintendo since February, from the announcement of Moon and Sun to the release of Pokken Tournament! We’ve got six legendary Pokemon under our belts already, but it’s time to push forward with the Pokemon god Arceus and August’s release!
Arceus, the Alpha Pokemon, also known as the “Original One” is said to be the creator of the entire Pokemon universe and god in its own right. Despite being a normal type, its ability Multitype, when coupled with any one of the Plate items allows Arceus to change its type at will. It is the leader of the fourth generation lake guardians and the creation trio, and thought to be the first Pokemon (which contradicts the Mew myth).
Arceus was originally distributed through a key item event. Using the Mystery Gift function, players could obtain an Azure Flute key item. When played at the top of the Spear Pillar, players would gain access to the Hall of Origin, where they would encounter Arceus. There was also a Toys R Us distribution back in 2009, but I missed out on that one. So if you missed your chance to get Arceus from one of the earlier events, now is your chance.
The Arceus Event will be a Serial Code Distribution and will take place between August 1st to 24th 2016 at participating U.S. Gamestop locations (I’m not sure about other countries). In order to use the distribution code, players must have a 3DS or New 3DS, and Pokemon X, Y, Omega Ruby, or Alpha Sapphire.
The event Arceus will be lv. 100 and have the Ability: Multitype, it will also come loaded with the moveset Judgment, Recover, Hyper Beam, and Perish Song.
