The Symbiant Re:Union BL Game Review – Getting Frisky in Space Again

HeartCoreDev is back with a sequel to their steamy sci-fi boys love visual novel, The Symbiant. Take a deep dive into Danya’s and Brahve’s heat and romance in The Symbiant Re:Union. The events take place after two Endings of The Symbiant’s main game.

Game Details

Story

The first After Story will transport you to the planet of Cayama, where in the main game Brahve finds Danya in the space port and confesses his love to him. What happened to the Odarian in the last two years and why is he so set on getting Danya back after breaking up with him? And where in the world is the Symbiant?

In the second After Story with our love birds you visit Odaria, Brahve’s homeworld where the team meets his cousin. This story takes place after the happiest ending in the main game. You’ll get a chance to explore the luxurious hot spring resort, as well as the surrounding forest nearby and experience some exquisite one-on-one times with Brahve.

Exotic forests, board games with friends, and torrid intimate moments between the two men await in this fun-packed adventure on a new alien planet!

The Symbiant Re:Union Review

Before we get into the review, yes you need to have played The Symbiant before playing Re:Union—this is a continuation not an original story.

Danya, Brahve and the rest of the cast of The Symbiant are back with new storylines that continue where the original story left off. Rather than calling this a sequel in the traditional sense, The Symbiant Re:Union feels more like an epilogue, exploring the events after two of the main endings from the first game. The first after story follows Danya and Brahve’s reunion on Cayama 2 years after their break up after the “Blast from the Past” ending. While the second after story continues their romance after the best ending, following the duo on a visit to Brahve’s homeworld, Odaria.

Of course a few familiar faces make a reappearance alongside the main duo, but The Symbiant Re:Union introduces a few new faces. Unlike the first game, Re:Union takes us away from the Ameretat, as we explore more of the imaginative sci-fi world. From the space ports and night clubs of Cayama to a luxury resort on Odaria, there are plenty of new sights to see and experience.

Like the first game, The Symbiant Re:Union is on the shorter side, clocking in at a solid 3-ish hours of gameplay. But, HeartCore Dev once again makes the most of the short runtime, not a moment is wasted, each ending feels complete if not a bit open ended. I will admit I kind of wish the endings were just a smidge longer.

Each ending offers a unique view into Danya and Brahve’s relationship. There is still so much for them to learn about themselves and each other. All of the characters do a lot of growing in The Symbiant Re:Union. I had a lot of fun revisiting this world and these characters and just seeing where they are now (though it feels like they do a bit more of it in the Cayama route).

The Cayama storyline offers a bit more of a dramatic story, focusing on Danya and Brahve attempting to pick up the pieces of their failed relationship. Two years is a long time, and both are in different places compared to where we left them at the end of the first game. Both Danya and Brahve have grown and changed in their time apart, in some ways for the better and in others for the worst. In this route we see them having to overcome their past mistakes and work to repair the damage of their choices.

The “Blast from the Past” end from the first game is my favorite because of how realistically it handled the fallout of their relationship. Sometimes there are no easy fixes, relationships take work and I loved seeing Danya and Brahve put in the work to rekindle their relationship. It’s messy and even by the end everything isn’t perfect, but it feels like a realistic and healthy outcome for everyone involved. Though, I will warn you now this route takes one of the characters to a very dark place, so tread lightly. But, a bonus of this route is that we finally get to meet Juni’s partner, Riemphea!

If drama isn’t your thing, the Odaria storyline is a welcome serotonin boost. Following the pair after the best ending, Danya and Brahve are in the honeymoon phase of their relationship. Lots of sweet moments and relaxation awaits as the pair, along with Juni and Oatith make their way to a luxurious hot spring resort run by Brahve’s cousin, Chohra. Happily ever after is just the beginning of their story, with each new interaction we see them opening up to each other more and more.

While this route is devoid of any real conflict, it does explore more about Brahve and his life prior to his journey with Danya on the Ameretat. He isn’t super forthcoming about his family or his life on Odaria, so it’s nice to learn more about him. I do kind of wish they had explored more about Brahve’s family and Odaria outside of the resort, but what we got was pretty enlightening. Of the two routes, this one felt the most romantic, since there was a lot of cute dates and one-on-one time between Brahve and Danya.

Though, if you’re looking for more spicy sex scenes, both routes have you covered! The 18+ patch includes a number of scenes between Danya and Brahve and yes, even Oatith gets in on the action. There are plenty of tentacles for all you kinky Fujos out there. I didn’t think Brahve could get sexier, but there is one CG where he has his cheeks out that will live rent free in my head till the day I leave this Earthly plane.

And the voice acting is once again top notch! These VAs were putting in the work during the steamy scenes! A feast for the eyes and the ears.

Watch My Playthrough of The Symbiant Re:Union

I had the chance to stream The Symbiant Re:Union on my Twitch channel ahead of the release. The playthrough covers the first half of the Odaria route—including one date scene and 2 sex scenes (one without the 18+ patch & one with the 18+ patch, both censored).

Dive back into the world of The Symbiant

The Symbiant Re:Union is a fun and fitting continuation of the story started in the first game. What I loved about The Symbiant is that every ending felt like a fitting outcome for the story between Brahve and Danya. In keeping with that sentiment the dual structure of The Symbiant Re:Union treats both the Cayama and Odaria routes as equally valid potential futures, giving them the same weight and care within the overall narrative. I have my favorite *cough* the Cayama route *cough*, but I still really enjoyed both stories.

If you loved The Symbiant and are itching to dive back into the romance between Brahve and Danya, you won’t want to miss out on The Symbiant Re:Union!

  1. I’d been eyeing The Symbiant for a while (I’m a massive scifi fan and I love me some aliens, whether romantically involved or not! I will gobble up all the lore, species specifics and fun designs the devs prvide regardless of game genre), but this last couple of reviews might’ve clinched the deal. ^^ I really appreciate wholesomeness in a game, and any work that can be *both* wholesome and sexy in equal parts is into something great, imho! Thank you for your expert opinion and enabling my backlog addiction as always _<;; )

    Also:
