Hey guy’s I’ve been thinking about the direction I want to take this blog moving into 2020 and I’ve been playing around with some ideas. But, since I want to include you guys more in the stuff I do here, I figured why not run a poll! I’m just putting some feelers out to see what you guys want to see on Blerdy Otome as we transition into the new year. So, if you could do me a solid and check out the poll let me know what you might be interested in seeing me try…

Super Special Awesome 500 Follower Collaboration Extraveganza w/ Two Happy Cats!!

Righteo, hey hey Heroes, Travelers, and Wandering NPCs, today I’m bringing you guys a super special awesome collaboration post! A little while ago I hit my 500 follower milestone here on WordPress and I was playing around with ideas for what I could do to celebrate this momentous occasion when I saw that my blogging twin Steph over at Two Happy Cats had also just hit 500 followers over on her blog… that’s when I got an idea… a deliciously wonderful idea, why not do a collab/joint celebration?!

haikyuu.gif

For those of you that don’t know, Steph and I started blogging around the same time, I think our anniversaries are just a few days apart, so I like to think of her as my blogging twin from halfway across the world. We struck up an instant friendship, bonding over our love of otome games, boy’s love, and of course Junji Ito!! So it must have been fate that we hit the big 500 follower milestone around the same time, and it seemed only fitting that I celebrate with one of my favorite bloggers around! If you haven’t already, I highly suggest you check out her site, she covers a wide range of topics, from otome games to anime to boy’s love to personal pieces, she is just a phenomenal blogger and friend!

For our super special awesome 500 Follower Collaboration, Steph and I decided to write up questions for the other to answer, so we each came up with six questions, I’ll be answering her questions here and she will be answering her questions over on her blog!

Let’s get this party started!!

Year End Wrap-Up: Taking a Step Back to Pallet Town

Well, it’s the end of the year and time for another reflections post… but, honestly, 2017 was a shit show from start to finish and I’m glad to see the bitch die… I mean, fuck 2017… wait, that’s not right either, *ahem* let’s try this again…

With 2017 winding down, it’s time for me to look back on the year, and reflect on all the things I learned these past 12 months. (Nailed it) I’ve been running Nice Job Breaking It, Hero for a little over two years now and in that time I have seen many changes in my life, both personally and professionally. Of course not all of these changes were positive, I had quite a few setbacks this year, but I still managed to come out relatively unscathed.

Last year, I dubbed 2017 my Mt. Silver Year and at the time I wasn’t aware of what an uphill battle it was going to be. Much like the Mt. Silver from the games, this was my toughest challenge yet, but through pluck and sheer determination, I made it to the summit and honestly, there’s still so much more out there to explore and do! But, in order to reach the next summit, I first have to take a step back and start anew, that was one of the hardest lessons to learn this year. You can’t just keep adding paint to an already full canvas, in order to gain some prospective a fresh approach is needed. And so, I dub 2018 my Pallet Town Year….

pallet town.png

These past few years I spent my time building my foundation, experimenting with various colors and hues, some worked, others, not so much. I’ve learned from those experiences and now I think I’m finally ready to create something new, not for likes or views, but for me. Not saying that that wasn’t what I was doing before, but somewhere along the way, I lost sight of what I wanted and now I mean to reclaim that “spark”. But, before I can start in on that new blank canvas, I have to take a step back and evaluate all the wonderful things that happened this year.

I’ve Kinda Been Neglecting My Blog, Again…

Hey Hey all you wonderful Heroes and Travelers out there, it’s been awhile since I posted anything on this blog (my failed attempt at completing the 30 Day Haikyuu Challenge aside) and for that I really don’t have any excuses, I just didn’t feel like writing. I’ve been running this blog for 2 years now and I finally hit that point where I don’t get that itch to write everyday. Don’t worry, I’m not abandoning this blog, I’m just not really playing games as much as I used to and while I still love them, I’m not going to force myself to play a game for the sake of writing reviews. Been there, done that, and it’s no fun.

So, when the mood strikes me, I’ll write a review, if you have a game you want me to check out or review, I strongly urge you to utilize my contact page (I do read all the emails). However, please be patient with me, I work full time during the week at a real estate firm and in my free time I am crocheting dolls for my Etsy Store or procrastinating writing articles for MANGA.TOKYO (I just picked up Blood Blockade Battlefront season 2 for them). Plus, I have shit going on in my real life that needs attending to… *ahem* I mean, I’m out here trying survive adulthood, a difficult task to say the least.

Since, I don’t want this post to just be about my lack of actual content, I will commit to writing at least two posts this week. Now, whether they’ll be reviews or not is still up in the air (chances are one will be), so keep your eyes peeled for those.

I’m also playing around with the idea of doing a post series featuring my various crochet projects, give a bit of insight into my process…. Would you guys be interested in that?

Nice Job Breaking It, Hero is 2 Years Old!!

I am terrible with dates and anniversaries, so imagine my surprise when I received a WordPress notification that my Blogiversary was on August 18th and not the 11th like I thought… whoops.  The 11th was actually the day I made my first ever blog post, so it’s still a pretty big milestone in my book! Though, this post is super late (August is almost over)…

pikachu celebration

I can’t believe I managed to keep this blog running for two years, and I am super grateful to to each and every one of you folks out there for sticking with me through all of the ups and downs. I always say this, but you guys are the real MVPs here at Nice Job Breaking It, Hero and I am in awe of the outpouring of love you guys have shown me over these past two years. This blog is a labor of love, I put my heart into everything that I write and it’s humbling to know that so many people appreciate my thoughts and opinions. I appreciate you all taking the time to not just read my awkwardly random ramblings, but for also all the likes and comments, I may not always respond, but just know, I look forward to them all…

Since this is my 2 year anniversary, I feel like I should have something spectacular planned, buuuuuuut, I was never one for planning things out, I’m more of a night before kind of gal…. So, I don’t exactly have anything special plan, though I guess this is a good enough time as any to announce that I’ll be doing the Haikyuu Challenge in September (thank Mel, she graciously brought it to my attention over on Twitter)! Thirty days of Haikyuu goodness, to celebrate my birthday month (and Tsukki’s B-day), so be on the look out for that next month. As for right now…. I guess I could share my blogging story and highlight some of my favorite blog posts.

I’m Still Alive, Tired, But Still Kickin’!

pikachu celebration.gif

Hey Hey All You Wonderful Heroes and Travelers (gosh, it’s been awhile since I said that), I hope you guys didn’t miss me too much! This post signifies my official return to blogging, I meant to come back sooner, but, I quite liked the break so I wound up staying away much longer than I planned. Though, granted, I was still pretty active on Twitter and Instagram. I’ve also been crocheting up a storm for my Etsy store, Poke’s Amigumuri Pals, and on top of that I’ve been out and about, exploring and growing, which left very little time for blogging…. but, I am back and I hope to resume blogging as usual next week. In the meantime, I’ll be posting a few Kickstarter campaign posts and some demo reviews (hopefully I can get them done before Otakon).

What’s New

  • My Blogiverary is on the horizon (August 11th), apparently, I’ve been blogging for two years, though, I could have sworn it was much longer than that… I plan on doing something special for that. What that special something will be, I have no clue, but whatever it is, it will be epic!!
  • I opened up my very own Etsy store, Poke’s Amigumuri Pals for all my amigurumi (crochet) dolls. The store specializes in faceless dolls (but, I can give them faces if someone is dead set on it). I am open to commissions and custom orders, so if you have a game character, anime character, or whatever that you want to own in doll form, just shoot me a message and I can work with you!
  • Most of you guys should know that I am a writer for the anime news site, MANGA.TOKYO, which also contributed to the blogging hiatus (just a bit though). I’ve written a few articles for them so far, and there are more on the way (just gotta find the time to crank em out), but the real news is that I’ll be covering the anime convention, Otakon as press for the site this weekend! This is my first time doing something like this, and while I’m nervous as hell, it should be a lot of fun, so I’m looking forward to it!
  • Added a Ko-fi button to the sidebar, because this blog is a labor of love, I don’t receive any money for anything that I write here (though occasionally a dev will throw me a review copy of a game) I come out of pocket for everything, so if you like what you see consider donating. But, it’s optional, so don’t feel obligated in any way!

Slowly Chuggin’ Along

I’m one of those, 9-5 office workers now, so the bulk of my blogging and crocheting gets done either during the commute to and from work or when I get home (right before I conk out for the day). That being said, I’m still going to be a bit slow with updates, but I’ll do my best! Just bear with me for a bit longer.

hug

I’d like to thank all of you for your love and support over these past few months, shit really hit the fan for me at one point, and while everything isn’t smooth sailing, I can honestly say that I am happy and a lot of that has to do with you guys! Every comment, tweet, message, and email means a lot to me (yes, I do read them, even if I don’t respond), so thank you guys for being so super special awesome!!

Why I’ve Been So Quiet…

First, I want to say that I’m going try to keep this post short, sweet, and to the point, because let’s be honest, if you really cared about why I’ve been kind of quiet on social media or on this blog in general, you’d have tried to reach out to me by now. I’m not accusing anyone of anything, I know how hectic life can be and heck I’ll admit that I’m terrible at keeping up with social media stuff in the first place, so I get it. This post is so you guys know that I’m not ignoring you because I necessarily want to… just, shit happens!

exhausted

March has been an especially miserable month for me, I had a lot of great things planned for the blog this month, but every time I got ready to sit down and do them life decided to throw a wrench in my plans. Earlier this month, I split with my BF and while it was for the best, it’s tough… I’m still kind of bummed about the whole thing and honestly, it’s going to take awhile before I’ll be back to my old self.

Then a little while ago, my job let me know that they wouldn’t be able to extend my contract like they promised due to funding issues. My contract with them is up at the end of the month and the news has kind of put me in a serious bind… not to mention I was already pretty low because of the break up. So for the past few weeks I have been applying to various jobs, but I haven’t seen much headway there. So, I honestly don’t have time to monitor my social media channels and even less time for blogging.

All of the posts that came out this week were literally written an hour or two before I posted them and that was just about all I could manage, since I find it extremely hard to write when I have a lot on my mind. I just can’t get in the mood for it, so this week was kind of an impromptu hiatus…

I’m still trying to handle my stuff here in the real world, but I promise I will be back on my online grind starting on Sunday. I have a friend that recently started blogging and she’s been asking me to have blogging dates with her for the longest and we were finally able to get our schedules to sync up. So I’ll be working on some things I’ve been neglecting this weekend.

So, yeah, that’s why I’ve been quiet and that’s why I haven’t been my usual bubbly self. I want to say thank you to everyone both online and in person, I’m not going to name you guys ya’ll know who you are, for lending an ear to my woes and for just being so awesome and understanding. I’m not the type to talk about my problems that much, so for you all to take the time to listen to me talk about my issues and to offer encouragement… it really means a lot to me!

Ah, I almost forgot, I have a very special announcement for you guys…. it’s really really super special awesome!! But, I will hold off on announcing it until next week, since it will technically have an impact on how things here at Nice Job Breaking It, Hero are going to run from now on… but, don’t worry it’s a good thing, I promise!

Again, thank you all for being so understanding about everything while I get my stuff together… it’s been a long month and I really hope you guys are fairing better than I am right now!

castiel hug
