Romantic Killer Vol. 1 Manga Review

Romantic Killer is a comedy romance shojo series from Wataru Momose and published by VIZ Media. Romantic Killer was first released as a full-color vertical webcomic series, and even won the Shonen Jump 2nd Vertical Scroll Manga Award. And like most independent webcomics, it retains a bit of a tongue and cheek vibe to it that I think is missing from most manga series. It’s snarky in it’s commentary and ridiculous in it’s setup, but that makes this one of the more refreshing new reads.

Manga Details

High schooler Anzu Hoshino has a great life. Every day she plays video games, pigs out on snacks, and pets her beloved cat. But this blissful existence is turned into a confusing mess when a magical creature transports her to an altered reality bereft of her favorite things. Now she’s stuck with hot guys instead! How can she possibly survive in such an awful world?!

Anzu must play along in this altered reality before she can return to her normal life, so she begrudgingly makes friends with Tsukasa Kazuki. He unfortunately happens to be one of the hottest and most popular guys at school, and what’s worse, she realizes that he might not even be that bad of a person!

Life Lessons with Uramichi Oniisan Vol. 1 Manga Review

Life Lessons with Uramichi Oniisan is an ongoing comedy manga series by Gaku Kuze and published by Kodansha. Never in all my years have I felt more seen by a manga series; follow a jaded 31 year old and his fellow cast members as they work on the children’s show ‘Together with Maman’ and navigate the hellscape that is adulthood with grudging grace…?

Uramichi is a 31-year old children’s TV host who leads physical exercises and teaches life lessons colored by one main theme: adulthood sucks. Alongside mascots played by a couple of bushy-tailed millennials, and a singing duo whose music embodies the notion of being kicked while you’re down, Uramichi wades through the misery of working life, one sardonic comment at a time…

Blerdy’s Comfort Manga

Hey Hey Blerdy Tribe! Do you ever feel overwhelmed? Between work, responsibilities, and bills… life can be pretty stressful and it’s kind of hard to fit in time for just relaxing. Hell, even hobbies can seem like work. So when I start to feel burn out rearing its ugly head I like to take a step back and chill with one of my tried and true comfort manga. A comfort manga is a series that you love, that you can read over and over again without having to worry about how the story ends. Comfort manga are like a warm embrace or an old friend, it makes you feel good to read it and when you’re not feeling your best these series are great for relieving stress. Comfort manga don’t have to be the best and they more often than not aren’t wholesome or comfy, in fact they can be downright trashy (most of mine are pretty questionable), but what’s most important is how reading the series makes you feel!

So today, I’m sharing my comfort manga, these are the series that I can read over and over again and even though I know how they end I never seem to get bored… When life gets me down these are the series that I read to mellow out…
