Indie studio, Galen Games recently launched the Kickstarter campaign for their upcoming fantasy otome/RPG Dual Chroma and with it a demo! So of course I had to check it out! Journey alongside the Second Prince of the Galens Empire to unlock ancient secrets in this romantic fantasy adventure with a dark twist.
Also fight alongside the Prince against the forces of darkness. Make the best of your unique skill sets and vanquish enemies in a streamlined, turn-based RPG system integrated into the story.

Story

Dual Chroma is a fantasy adventure otome game where you play as the advisor to the second prince of the Galens Empire, Keldran. Throughout the story you can get to know the prince and potentially pursue a romance with him. While Keldran is the only love interest (as of this writing), Dual Chroma does feature an expansive cast of side characters that fill out the imaginative world of the game.

Galen Games first introduced the world to Keldran (and his luscious thighs) in their 2021 Otome Jam entry, Deliver Us From Evil (DUFE) and he’s been a recurring figure in their games ever since. Once again the suave leading man is back to steal hearts in Galen Games’ upcoming fantasy otome, Dual Chroma. This time, Keldran is the crowned prince of the Galens Empire, a thriving magical realm on the cusp of a dark threat.
In the game, you are brought on as a magical advisor, tasked with assisting Keldran in his role as prince, both in matters of politics and the mystic arts. Your new role puts you at the forefront of the political intrigues of the empire as an unforeseen tragedy changes Keldran’s position in the royal hierarchy. But, politics are the least of your worries, when a darkness from Galens’ past threatens the fate of the empire.
Tread carefully, your choices could have dire consequences for the Empire. Together with Keldran you will need to look to the past to uncover the truth behind your strange visions and the enigmatic figure that beckons you from the darkness.
Immerse yourself in the rich worldbuilding, intrigue, and magic of Dual Chroma. Foster your relationship with Keldran—and trust me when I say that man is swoon worthy. Even in the short runtime of the demo, I found myself once again falling for Keldran’s charm and ample assets. There is instant chemistry between Keldran and the MC, from their casual flirtations to the witty banter, I was eating up every minute of their shared screentime.
Also, don’t get me started on the MC’s mysterious dream hottie, I don’t care if he turns out to be a threat, that man can get it any day of the week!
Of course, the leading lady is also a delight, and depending on your choices you can develop her personality with one of three unique attributes. If you want to play things safe, you can take the more diplomatic approach, or if you’re like me, go all out with bolder options.
As if the gorgeous visuals and talented voice cast wasn’t enough (Keith Urban as Emperor Kostas will get your panties wet), Dual Chroma marries the immersive storytelling of a visual novel with the action of a turn-based RPG.
Otome games have experimented with mixed gameplay mechanics before, with so-so results, but I am happy to say that the feature only enhances the story of Dual Chroma. This isn’t a cheap gimmick either, it’s clear that the Galen Games team went to great pains to recreate the RPG battle style, implementing a range of magical and physical attacks, defensive options and even communication/strategizing between the MC and Keldran. And they even included some fun voiced lines of encouragement from Keldran in between attacks to really enhance the experience.
Though, don’t worry the battles aren’t too complex and if you just want to experience the story players can turn off the battle system at the start of the game. But, I recommend giving it a try at least once, just to get a feel for the mechanic.
Honestly, Dual Chroma is the total package and this demo will have you hungry for more! With it’s beautiful art style, vibrant fantasy setting, fun blended gameplay, and immersive story this is definitely not a game you want to miss out on!
