Butterfly’s Poison Blood Chains (Chou no Doku) Switch Port with English language support

This morning brings some good news to the otome community! Taisho era, R18 otome game, Chou no Doku, Butterfly’s Poison; Blood Chains, is getting a Nintendo Switch port with English language support from Prototype! In the game, five young men pursue the daughter of a declining noble family.

While the initial Japanese PC release was an 18+ release, it appears that the new worldwide release date is November 11, 2022.

A love tale of light and shadow set in the Taisho era

Tokyo, 1918.

Yuriko Nomiya, born and raised comfortably in an aristocratic family, is suddenly struck by a series of misfortunes.

Is this fate brought about by the Taisho era, or is someone plotting against her?

The dark, bittersweet tale of Yuriko and five gorgeous young men is about to unfold…

Characters

Yuiriko Nomiya (Name Changeable)

Curious and decisive.
She may be an aristocratic lady, but she is determined to learn more about the world as she isn’t blind to the danger looming over her family.


Junichi Shiba (VA: Chasuke)

A wealthy merchant and a nouveau riche. 28 years old.
For some unknown reason, he is obsessed with the protagonist and uses his wealth as a pretense to ask her to marry him. A pompous man with an attitude, he is an eccentric who is comfortable in his own skin.

Mizuhito Nomiya (VA: Tatsuya Hirai)

The protagonist’s older brother. 22 years old.
As the viscount’s eldest son, he is the head of their flower arrangement school. He has an aloof and pessimistic personality. He is also a libertine who adores painting as much as he does women, but he treats his little sister like she is a precious gem.

*Last name changes to match the protagonist

Yoshiki Majima (VA: Keizo Oishi)

A servant of the Nomiya family. 25 years old.
Although his status is that of a servant, he is actually protagonist’s first love.
He is a young man who loves plants and has a friendly and calm personality.

Hitoshi Fujita (VA: Sandayu Chianoze)

The butler of the Nomiya family. 37. Half British.
He has been working for the Nomiya family ever since the protagonist was a child. He is an honest man, but it’s difficult to tell what he is thinking through his stoic face.

Hideo Ozaki (VA: Kiya Suga)

The first son of a baron family and a sub-lieutenant of the army. 24 years old.
He may be the protagonist’s childhood friend, but he is very cold toward her.
He is a clean freak with a serious and steadfast personality. His ability as a military man is unquestionable.


Chou no Doku will be available in English and Japanese

The text can be set to English or Japanese. This includes in-game text, options, and the digital manual. Language settings can be changed at any time.

  • Voices will be in Japanese.
  • The text in the opening movie and credits will be displayed in Japanese.

The English translation will be added to the Japanese physical and digital versions of the game. For those gamers with the Japanese version this will be a free update! The English update is also compatible with existing saves.

  1. Is the English version of this out yet? I can’t find it on the Nintendo EShop. Do I need to buy the Japanese version then update it? Sorry I hope this isn’t annoying; I’m just a little confused.

    1. So it seems like there are some delays with the international release. But if you already have the JP version you can get the patch and use it with that version.

      1. Do you know if they’re going to make the physical copy of Koezaru wa Akai Hana -Tsui no Tsuki- multi language like this game?

      2. Peobably not, it seems to be cheaper for the publishers to just do digital releases. So if we do get an announcement for the game that will be the most likely outcome
