Thrifty Gaming: Games That Won’t Blow Your Budget #5

Hello all you wonderful Heroes and Travelers, it’s Thrifty Thursday and that means another Thrifty Gaming, the weekly post series where I spotlight three otome games/visual novels for gamers on a budget. Whatever your financial situation, I’m here to bring you affordable games that won’t break the bank!! All of the games on this list are $10 or less (does not include limited time offers and sale items), so no more weepy wallets!

This week’s post will include links to the games and a brief synopsis, but let me stress that these are not reviews, but recommendations… so your mileage may vary! Now that that’s out of the way lets get on to this week’s list!!

Reflections on the River (2016)- STARDUST★SODA

Cost: FREE

Windows, Mac, Linux

Once upon a time, in the far away kingdom of Nantu, a desperate King and Queen sought the help of a Witch. Although the Witch claimed no reward at the time, good fortune comes at a hefty price.
As the kingdom grew prosperous, so did the Witch’s greed. Thrice did the Witch demand unreasonable recompense, but thrice was the Witch rejected. The visits stopped and for a short while, the kingdom knew peace.
Until one day the Witch returned, demanding the kingdom’s most prized jewel, lest tragedy befalls the land.
Who will get their happily ever after in this fairy-tale?

Reflections on the River is a short PC fantasy Original English Language Visual Novel (OELVN). The game  is about 30+ minutes in length and features two routes with a total of 7 unique endings.

Rose of Winter (2016)- pillowfight

Cost: $10.00 USD

Windows, Mac, Linux

Rosemary left her family’s farm a year ago to become a Knight in Shining Armor! … but being a knight is harder than she thought, and she’s looking for work at the foot of the perilous Mount Needle. Thankfully, there are four handsome princes here who need an escort through the mountain pass, and Rosemary is just the knight for the job!

As Rosemary, you’ll brave fierce beasts and difficult terrain, not to mention the fact that your traveling companion can be a royal pain. But that’s okay! Because you’re brave and noble and not-at-all distracted by the handsome guy you’re bound to protect. You’ve got the armor, you’ve got the sword, and you’re all ready for a fairytale romance: if the snowstorms and bone-chilling winds don’t get in the way.

And maybe these princes aren’t quite as charming as you expected…

Rose of Winter is a GxB and GxG adventure romance Original English Language Visual Novel (OELVN). The game features four main male potential love interests with a total of eight endings. Each of the romanceable characters come with two distinct ending (1 Good Ending and 1 Sad/Bad Ending).

*Note: This game is also available on Steam, however because the Steam retail price is over the $10.00 limit, I didn’t include links to that…*

Eldarya (2016)- Beemoov Games

Cost: FREE

Arriving with no intention to be in this new world of Eldarya, you find yourself pushed to join the Guard of El.
Lost and confused, you will be brought to make numerous encounters and accept your new status as a member of the guard.
Will you be able to go home, or is your place truly here in this universe?

You will have to understand everything that has happened to you since the day you stepped into that circle of mushrooms.

Eldarya is an immersive online fantasy game from the creators of My Candy Love.  Players can craft their own avatars and explore the expansive world of the game while completing various tasks that advance the progression of the story. Like Beemoov’s other games, Eldarya is episodic, with new chapters being released periodically by the developers.

  1. Tiny request: can you also include some in game screenshots in future posts? Some of the games sound pretty good, but I would also like to know what the actual game looks like. XDD

    • I really appreciate the suggestion, and I’m sorry it took me so long to reply. Unfortunately I don’t plan on adding screenshots from the games in this post, however if you click the links for each of the games, they will take you to either the developer’s website or the game’s pages where you’ll find several screenshots of the game.

  2. Reflections of the River and Rose of Winter both have that fairy-taleish feel! Hmm they both sound interesting….

Gush about cute otome boys~
