You don’t have to break the bank to enjoy your hobbies, so save a little bread and check out this week’s thrifty gaming picks!
Reminiscence in the Night (2020) – Team SolEtude
You’re trapped in your apartment.
You have no memory of your past.
As you try to escape, you rapidly understand that
you must confront your traumas
and the only way to do this is to let your choices guide you
in order to be free.
Reminiscence in the Night is an interactive visual novel focused on the theme of lost memories and how our daily choices can help us cope with them. The game takes between a half hour to an hour to complete. Explore your apartment, interacting with items, each of which carries pieces of your memories. On your journey your friend, Sofia will help guide you through your complex emotions and memories, via your laptop—through her stories and conversations you’ll come to an understanding about your current situation. Also as you progress through the story you will confront your foggy memories where a mysterious man resides. Who is he? What does he mean to you?
Lonely Wolf Treat (2016) – Nami
LONELY WOLF TREAT is the heartwarming story of a wolf who moves into a town full of rabbits that are all very afraid of her, so she can’t make any friends… until one little bunny bursts into her home, and decides to make her some delicious curry!
Lonely Wolf Treat is a short linear visual novel developed by Nami in about 3 weeks using RPG Maker. There are no branching pathways and there is only one obtainable ending. The game takes roughly between 15 and 20 minutes to complete and follows Treat, a quiet and reserved wolf as she acclimates to life in her new home—a town full of cute bunnies. Because of who she is the other residents are afraid of her, all except one outgoing and bubbly bunny who wants nothing more than to be friends with her new neighbor.
The Last Act (2021) – Snowhaven Studios
The Last Act is a mystery-romance visual novel about a young woman named Sarah, who aspires to be the lead in a play. She finally lands her big break, but then disturbing supernatural incidents start happening around the theater. All she wanted was a smashing opening night, but instead, she might be breaking a leg… LITERALLY.
Can she solve the mysteries of the theater before opening night? Will love bloom along the way?
With the help of the lovable and friendly ghost Silas, sultry detective Gavin, and her skeptical co-star Joshua, she might just be able to solve the mystery before their premiere!
The Last Act is a mystery/romance visual novel developed by Snowhaven Studios. Take on the role of Sarah, an aspiring actress (and amateur slueth) as she navigates a strange supernatural mystery and she attempts to uncover the truth hiding behind the curtains of a local theater. Get to know a unique cast of characters each of whom have their own secrets… and of course, romance is always on the horizon. Choose between three engaging love interests—loveable specter, Silas; distant investigator, Gavin; and the sweet and approachable, Joshua.
