Thrifty Gaming: Games That Won’t Blow Your Budget #62

Hey there Heroes, Travelers, and Wandering NPCs, I know I missed the last two Thursdays of posts let’s blame that on my leaking ceiling… but, it’s once again that special time of the week—Thrifty Thursday!

In a world where it’s all about the almighty dollar, sometimes it’s a little tough to make our pennies stretch enough to accommodate our hobbies. But, there are plenty of ways to balance your budget while still enjoying the things you love, you just have to be a little thrifty about it. So, I created Thrifty Gaming in order to spotlight some lesser known indie titles that are both entertaining an affordable.

If you’re a new follower or someone who has been following since my Nice Job Breaking It Hero days and have been gone for awhile, here’s a refresher… Thrifty Gaming, is a weekly post series where I spotlight three games/visual novels that are under $10.00. These can be mobile games, PC games, and a few times I have found some nice indie console titles too. The list used to focus on just otome games and romance visual novels, but after requests from a few readers I have since expanded to other gaming genres. I don’t include sales or limited time offers, each title has to be consistently priced at $10.00 or less without any promotions to be included in this line up.

Note, these are not reviews, rather recommendations so your mileage may vary with some of these titles. This week’s post will include a brief synopsis and links to each game so you can add them to your gaming library! You don’t have to break the bank to enjoy your hobbies, so save a little bread and check this week’s thrifty gaming picks!

Mr Supernatural is a short visual novel developed by dmochas for the I Can’t Write But Want To Tell A Story game jam hosted by charlmes. In the game you play as Mark, a self proclaimed scumbag on the cusp of thirty, who just so happens to let a strange woman into his apartment one evening. But, the more you get to know your unexpected guest the stranger things become… Make in game choices that guide the course of the story and unlock each of the game’s endings.

Monster Sweethearts (2019) – llonelly

Monster Sweethearts is a free lesbian Monster dating sim set in the rural town of Black Wood . You’re stuck planning the Monster Sweetheart dance after being exposed to the existence of monsters. But you, your self don’t have a date to the dance! through 5 different possible routes you might end up with a very special lady depending on your choices throughout the game.

Monster Sweethearts is a supernatural romance visual novel developed by llonelly for Yuri Game Jam 2019. The game features six dateable love interests, each with a single good and bad ending that can be achieved based on your choices throughout the game. Monster Sweetheart also features a special choices based that hold more weight than the normal in-game choices—rely on instinct and take a more violent approach to obstacles or use reason to get yourself through tough scrapes.

Sifting Thyme is an ongoing mobile romance game developed by Nochi Studios. In the game you can play as either a male or female protagonist and romance one of four male love interests. Bond with the LIs by getting to know them and unlock text messages, social media content, and romantic scenarios. The game is currently available in the Google Play store and the App Store, with new chapters being released on the 2nd Monday of each month. By paying $4.99 you unlock the core storyline, with full access to new chapters as soon as they are released.
