Do you like naked cat boys? Well I have some exciting news from indie developer, Cats on a Lilypad Studios! After years in development, the team released their modern fantasy boys love visual novel, The Inn Between on Steam Early Access. While this isn’t the full release, it is a huge step for the team after hitting quite a few road bumps over the years as they worked to bring this project to life.
The Inn Between follows Myka Riley as he is pulled into a hidden world of gods and magic to uncover the truth behind his forgotten past and his lost family. Can Myka navigate his new reality? As his new relationships bloom, will he succeed in his quest for identity? Or will the forces of an ancient fate claim a long sought victory?
The early access version of The Inn Between includes the entirety of the game’s common route (nine chapters) with three distinct endings. In the proposed road map, the team plans to release the rest of the story in batches until the game is complete.

17 years ago, a boy met a monster.
The Inn Between is a BL fantasy romance visual novel following Myka Riley and his life long search to recover his missing memories after an accident as a child left him in the care of his aunt with no recollection of who he was, or what happened to his family.
One phone call, and his life will change forever. Myka’s journey to recover his identity leads him down a unknown and mystical path, revealing a world he never could have imagined existed – a world far removed from the one he knows, filled with gods, ghosts, and creatures only thought myth.
Can Myka navigate his new reality? As his new relationships bloom, will he succeed in his quest for identity? Or will the forces of an ancient fate claim a long sought victory?
With three romanceable characters, Myka will encounter and grow his connections to those around him.

About Cats on a Lilypad Studio
Cats on a Lilypad Studios is a solo, female run visual novel studio based in regional Australia, run by C.L. We make narrative focused games with a passion for fantasy, cats and adventure (oh, and romance.) The dev is a programmer, writer, singer, audio engineer, vtuber and more and talks about herself in the third person while doing social media posts. Alongside The Inn Between, we have also developed the visual novel Moonflower, and have a future title Heart Agency.
Founded in 2020, the studio is the culmination of a lifelong love of gaming and narratives. Not only do we make our own games but we’re also available for programming and audio production services.
