Good on Operahouse to think multi-platform, honestly! I’ll always be happy about ports and wish more mainstream devs could have them should their resources allow for them. That said it seems they *still* aren’t giving their translations the care it deserves. I remember the Switch demo being really rough on that front… And there’s no demo available on PC, either.
So potential players be warned. Your mileage may vary, and I’ve already seen reviews of folks who enjoyed the game regardless; you may too! But OH has a history of shoddy translation, and from the promotional screenshots/the Switch demo (supposing the PC version is in the same state) it seems they’re up to their old tricks. That’s something to keep in mind if you’re one of the players whose experience is dependent on TL quality.
(not to rain on everyone’s parade, though. It’s still good news – and good or bad I appreciate the coverage as always! ^^)
So, I debated on mentioning the questionable localization. But, kept it to just the PR release until AFTER I play the game.
Because Opera House is NOTORIOUS for iffy translations and just from the teaser screenshots you can tell this one is… not the best. I’m gonna give it a go to see what’s up, but I’ve lowered my expectations
No, I absolutely get it! This is an announcement post and I took it as such – plus it’d be awkward to break your usual format, or to comment on something you haven’t experienced yet as a reviewer… I just figured I’d point the TL out because the demo was rough, imho, and the translation quality might be a deterrent to some players (not to mention not exactly something you’d expect from a big publisher release). That said, I hope I didn’t overstep, either!
(and honestly I’m torn too because I don’t my take to chase away away people who *would* enjoy the game regardless- I’ve only played the Switch demo and have no authority or taste whatsoever, so :D… But I really would have liked for people on PC to have access to the demo as well, because in such cases it’s good to have a way to make up your own mind.)
