About Genso Manège

I will awaken the magic within you, and you will free us from the Rêve…

Set in a wondrously evocative re-imagining of France, a beautifully crafted otome visual novel following Emma, orphaned at a young age, as she fights to uncover her forgotten memories. A witch who lost her powers when young and now living a quiet life, Emma is led by the memento her father left her and finds herself swept away with the arrival of a travelling amusement park in town.

Filled with magic and dreams but holding a dark secret, Emma feels an immediate connection to the wondrous La Foire du Rêve. She discovers that hidden underneath the lustrous fairy-like charm of the park, its employees are trapped, bound to the amusement park and only the magic within Emma can free them. But it has been years since Emma has been able to access her magic, and she must dig deep within herself, navigating painful repressed memories, in order to recover it.

Working at the Rêve as she unravels the tangled threads of her forgotten past, Emma forges bonds with the employees of the amusement park. A cast of wonderful characters; the dazzling director Hugo, the stoic accountant Serge, the Tsundere Performer Crier, the kind-hearted rabbit Lyon, the Reclusive Mechanic Luciole, and Emma’s special childhood friend, Arnaud. Each character with their own crosses to bear, stories of tragedy and longing woven together with desperation, Emma builds deepening bonds of friendship, and maybe more, as she works to unlock her magic and their freedom.

With its gorgeously subdued artwork, radiating warmth and romance, Genso Manège is a dream-like otome fantasy with an outstanding visual power that conjures an unforgettably bittersweet tale.

Official Synopsis

Six Love Interests to Fall in Love With!

Emma – Heroine (17 years old)

A witch who lost her magic. A kind-hearted young woman who loves reading and daydreaming. Her mother passed away when she was six and her father died in an accident at ten. Emma was also involved in this accident and has lost her memories and her magic from that time.

She spends as much time as possible at home partly because of her amnesia, and her childhood friend is a source of emotional support.

Hugo (25 years old)

CV. Hatano Wataru

The playful and mysterious director of the Rêve. A kind and well-mannered gentleman with a mischievous streak. Hugo treats everyone around him with the same respectful demeanor making his true feelings hard to read. He can also be stubborn when needed. He identifies Emma’s magic and asks her help.

Serge (27 years old)

CV. Umehara Yuuichirou

Head of finances for the Rêve. Hugo helped him in his previous occupation and as a result he will always have Hugo’s back. Because of his cool attitude he can be intimidating but he is as harsh on himself as he is on others.

Crier (17 years old)

CV. Shimono Hiro

A performer with a tsundere temperament. He is hard on Emma when she arrives but deep down he is very caring. He is sensitive about his height and tends to get frustrated at Serge who is taller. He is the only member of the staff that can go outside.

Lyon (Age Unknown)

CV. Suzuki Yuuto

An innocent and kind-hearted rabbit. A costumed mascot at the Reve. He is gentle, honest and kind, and has an innocent personality. He is popular with children but is for some reason hated by cats. He never removes his costume, even to eat, so very few people know his face.

Luciole (21 Years old)

CV. Shirai Yuusuke

The reclusive mechanic. He rarely appears in public except for work. Due to past events he has lost motivation and wants to escape reality. He is against Emma awakening her magic.

Arnaud (19 years old)

CV. Abe Atsushi

A bright and realistic childhood friend. He lives with Emma and his mother Alice in the town of Blancbourg. His bright and friendly personality allows him to get along with anyone. He is worried about Emma who has lost memories from when she was younger, and often uses his work as an excuse to visit Emma at the park. He is also weary of Hugo.

  1. Wow, PQube/Mages are on a roll lately, love that for them (and for us)!! That wasn’t on my bingo card for sure, but weee! more otomege for the otomege throne. :)))
… as a French speaker though, some of those character names are amazing – you’ve got normal first names all around, and then there’s Firefly (which kind of slaps, tbh, but is still very silly ^^) and Scream (not even the noun – that’s the verb; its infinitive form, at that Oo) Ngl, I genuinely love it when JP devs try and attempt French naming conventions, and I hope they never stop. 😀

    1. RIGHT! I am loving that other publishers are stepping up and giving us some variety! I hope they keep this up.

LOL Gotta love the name choices in otome games, they’re always good for a nice chuckle. Which one is Firefly?! I have to know for science.

  2. “Luciole” is Firefly, “Crier” is (to) Scream. ^^ Bonus points for “Lyon”, which I hadn’t caught the first time around but isn’t really used as a first name, because it’s the name of one of the biggest French cities and any kid called that would just get laughed at. But man’s hanging out as dressed a bunny rabbit 24/7 so I don’t think he’d care much. 😀
As fun as the name thing is, I also just really like seeing different cultures being explored through outsiders’s perspectives, even if the picture painted ends up being a bit warped. Games like Code Realize were so enjoyable on that level 🙂

Gush about cute otome boys~
