Grand rising on this most glorious Black History Month! Here on Blerdy Otome I celebrate diverse stories and characters all year, but throughout the month of February I want to go extra hard for games featuring Black and brown experiences! While scrolling through Tumblr (remember that?) I stumbled upon Kabus Studio’s twisted vampire dating sim, Bite Me: A Vampire Dating Sim and I was blown away by the beautiful diverse and queer cast! So, now I’m sharing with the rest of the class!

Story
In an alternate-universe Iran, you are invited to an elegant Yalda-Night party at the Kymiagar family mansion. This is where you meet your charming and elegant hosts:
Faranak, Jadu, Maader, Hayat, Shirin, Shayan, and Telesm
All seems well- until they slaughter everyone in the house to feed to their Mother. Will you be lucky enough to win their hearts and convince them to spare your life?
Characters
Meet and pursue one of the siblings, and carefully select your conversation choices to ensure your safety at the end of the night.
Bite Me reminds me a bit of First Bite, both feature a diverse, queer cast and promise a mature take on vampire mythos. But, what stands out to me about Bite Me is it’s Iranian setting and the inclusion of characters from a wider range of identities and body sizes. I’d be lying if Hayat in all their full figured ebony glory didn’t catch my eye, she is everything! Of course the rest of the cast is equally stunning and worth the ogle, but damn if there isn’t something sexy about a curvy sun-kissed goddess.
Described by the team as “a love letter to Southwest Asian folklore and vampire tales“, it’s not often that we get romance games with it’s roots in Iranian culture. It’s clear that a lot of love went into this game!
Bite Me is currently available as a demo. However, the final game will have an estimated 10 chapters, 200+ voice lines, expanded world-building, detailed character backstories going over their vampiric origins, and developed romance between the player and their chosen character. Each route will have 3 endings, including one secret ending.

The developers of Bite Me have launched a Kickstarter campaign to help with the production of the game and it’s definitely worth lending your support! The campaign is set to run until March 8, 2024, with a goal of just $10,537!
We worked hard for the last 7 months to bring these characters to life, with our main goal being representation in the vampire horror genre by and for POC, Queer, and Disabled folks.
