In recent years the indie otome games space has grown to considerably! Not a day goes by that I don’t see a new game announcement or release on my feeds. Not only that but, the quality of indie otome games have even surpassed their mainstream counterparts–especially in the types of diverse stories being created.
While many indie games are available on platforms like Steam, itch.io remains the hub for indie titles, thanks in part to the numerous game jams hosted there. One such jam, Otome Jam! Otome Jam 2025 just wrapped up its submission cycle and with it came a number of amazing indie otome titles and demos for folks to check out!
About Otome Jam 2025
If you’re not familiar with Otome Jam, it’s an annual game jam hosted by Akua and Crystal Games Works that invites creators to submit otome game projects. While the jam’s focus is otome game, creators can submit works that feature characters and stories about other identities, so long as there is at least one GxB relationship depicted. There is also Josei Jam, a sister game jam to Otome Jam that focuses on a wider range of games that are meant for women.
Typically Otome Jam runs for two months in the summer; Otome Jam 2025 ran from April 30th to July 1st and featured 95 Submissions. Entries range from short games (30 minutes to 3 hours) to long games (10+ hours) to demos and betas! Otome Jam 2025 Games I’m Excited to Play
- My Husband is a Stranger – Chattercap’s games NEVER disappoint, and this one looks like it’s going to have me on the edge of my seat (and once again falling for a questionable fictional man)!
- Cupid’s Bargain – I see melanin in a game and I immediately pay attention! But, miseri always delivers on the unhinged and hilarious titles, and Cupid’s Bargain looks like another banger!
- Jest Messters – I adore everything Elseth has created and this was a guaranteed insta-play.
- Closeted – A PSYCHOLOGICAL HORROR MYSTERY?! SAY LESS! I absolutely love titles like this and you can bet I’m not ready for the twists this one has to offer.
- Severed Love – 欠損失愛 Demo – “Paranormasight inspired” and a psychological horror yandere romance?! Sign me up!
- Beyond Life and Death – This one has an interesting dice rolling gameplay mechanic… and a megane, I need more games with MEGANE LIs! I also really appreciate that you can romance or befriend the boys.
- How to Raise the Dead – Okay, so hear me out… I can romance a zombie…
- Ookami Okami – I love anything Mushroomallow creates. They make a game, I make time to play it and Ookami Okami is no exception! My body is ready for white haired masked bae!
