Story
Samurai Asano was betrayed by his daimyo master, the warlord Sakuna, when they invaded his homeland. His ancestral onsen was taken from him and given Sakuna’s daughter, Mina, who uses it to help her father raise funds. Asano vows to get revenge by ruining the onsen.
When Mina takes over the onsen, she unwittingly releases four oni who were trapped in an ancient sagemono. The grateful oni will protect Mina and thwart Asano, who ends up becoming a target for their pent-up lust.
According to legend, the only way an oni can fully exit the onsen is by getting a member of the original family to fall in love with him. The oni take the word ‘love’ on the ancient scroll to mean something more physical…
Official Synopsis
Oni Onsen Demo Review
Y Press Games is known for their unique boys love titles that span a wide range of genres. Love em, hate em you can’t help but be entertained by them. And sometimes that’s really all you need. Oni Onsen doesn’t try to be this grand emotional story. It’s campy and funny and just wildly unhinged in all the best ways.
In a bold twist for a boys love game the demo kicks things off, not the main character Asano, but the daughter of the man who stole everything from him. Mina is the POV character for a lot of the demo, and honestly this spunky lady steals the show every time she is on screen! (Mina spin-off when?!)
Sakuna “gifts” his recently acquired onsen to his daughter to generate funds for his various military campaigns. Mina is not here for manual labor and she definitely doesn’t want to do anything to help her father. So, she begrudgingly takes over the onsen, planning to embezzle money from the business to help fund her escape from her father. Things don’t really go as planned when she unwittingly frees four hunky oni from an ancient sagemono. The oni glad to once again be free they pledge their loyalty to Mina.
The oni tell Mina they are trapped in the onsen until they can get a member of the Hayashi family to give them “love”, a sentiment they take literally. Because Mina is the person running the onsen, they mistake heras the heir to the Hayashi family, and immediately set their sights on wooing her. Mina is not here for any of that and sets the oni to doing manual labor around the onsen.
To make matters even messier, the true heir to the Hayashi family, Asano arrives at the onsen with his eyes set on revenge. His feeble attempts to destroy the onsen fall flat, but attract the attention of the oni who find the handsome sad boy…cute? And so they set out to seduce him instead…
I know, it sounds bonkers. This is definitely one of the most over the top game premises. But it kind of works if you don’t take it too seriously. Just sit back and enjoy the ride. Oni Onsen reads more like a comedy packing in more jokes to balance out some of the darker elements. To call the relationship between Asano and his former mentor, Sukuna icky is an understatement. But, with the playful anachronisms like feudal dick pics and sacred Brittney Spears posters, Mina’s IDGAF attitude, and Asano’s melodramatic emo soliloquies it’s easy to overlook the “drama”.
Aku, contributes to a majority of the slapstick with his bizarre mannerisms and hijinks (I mean he is a chaos oni afterall). But, who could forget Shudo the Kyoto oni with a Scottish accent or Nensu, the reformed baddie who has found religion of all things… constantly spouting doctrine from several major and minor religions.
Oni Onsen is a riot! The demo is pretty hefty, covering the first arc of the game which gives you a good feel of the characters and their personalities. Which given the game is set to release in 2025, it’s nice to have a demo with more content to tide us over. Of course, there are some kinky scenes with each of the oni AND a sneak peek at a harem scene featuring all the oni. Every hole is plugged. Like most Y Press Games, Asano is not relegated to being a bottom. He tops. He bottoms. And everything in between.
Y Press Games is known for their sexual content and Oni Onsen is packed full of delicious beefy oni to ogle at. The CGs are works of art! And it’s all uncensored, so you can enjoy the 🍆 fest to its fullest. But, if you want to share the experience, there is a streamer friendly mode that artfully crops out the naughty bits while keeping the sensual writing intact.
Overall, Oni Onsen had me in stitches from start to finish! It’s a hilarious romp full of laughs, yummy smut, and gorgeous visuals that any boys love fan will enjoy. The game is currently raising funds on Kickstarter, so if you wanna smash a harem of sexy oni, consider showing the campaign some love!
