It’s been a long time since I wrote my last Pokemon Top 10 list, I originally intended to have all of these posts done before the release of Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon, but one thing lead to another… ah well, better late than never! This time around, I’ll be covering my Top Ten Gen 6 Pokémon. So let’s get this party started…
The sixth generation games brought Pokemon to the third dimension with improved 3D graphics and a whole host of interactive features! While liked all of the new advancements and features added to the Gen VI games, I wasn’t quite so impressed with all the new Pokemon that were introduced this time around… they just weren’t as memorable. In fact, I think this was the generation with the fewest new Pokemon rounding out at just 72 critters to capture.
Number Ten: Aurorus
No matter how much time passes, there will always be a few constants in the Pokemon games, one of them being Fossil Pokemon. Sure resurrecting an ancient Pokemon is cool and all, but for the most part, these Pokemon can be pretty hit or miss, but in X and Y both options were pretty awesome! But as cool as it was to have a T-Rex on my team, I had to go with Aurorus for this list. I don’t know what to say, this is just a really elegant looking Pokemon, plus it doesn’t hurt that Aurorus and it’s pre-evolved form Amaura are the only Pokemon with the Rock/Ice typing!
Number Nine: Xerneas
Okay, this guy is on this list purely because it reminds me of the Forest Spirit from Hayao Miyazaki’s Princess Mononoke, just without the human looking face. But similarities aside, Xerneas is just a really well designed Pokemon, with its rainbow colored antlers and lithe, graceful form, this hands down one of my favorite Legendary Pokemon!!
Number Eight: Trevenant
It’s a sentient ghost tree, that’s both horrifying and cool… but, mostly horrifying! Imagine running into a horde of these in the middle of the forest at night, pure nightmare fuel! Oh, but let’s not forget that Trevenant can also control nearby trees and use them to trap people that harm its forest home! This is definitely not a Pokemon I’d want to cross!
Number Seven: Noivern
Noivern is another Pokemon I wouldn’t want to run into after dark, with it’s wicked coloring and predatory design, this guy always looks ready to attack. But, it’s a really sleek design, though I absolutely hate its shiny coloring, it really kills the whole creature of the night vibe it has going on…
Number Six: Pancham
Pancham is adorable, but with that cheeky grin it also looks like it’s down for a good tussle, though it’s way too cute for me to see it as much of a threat. Plus it’s a panda, who doesn’t like pandas?! But, I will admit that it’s evolution method is a pain in the butt…
Number Five: Chespin
I usually don’t care much for the Grass-type Pokemon, since they kind of suck against most Pokemon types, but Chespin was just too cute, it’d be criminal not to include it on this list. It’s a cute little hedgehog with an even cuter hat!! KYAAAAAAA! But, all of that cuteness goes down the drain when you evolve it, sorry, but its evolutions are clunky and weird looking…
Number Four: Vivillon
Vivillion… this is just one beautiful Pokemon, of all the butterfly Pokemon Game Freak has given us over the years, this one is by far my favorite. I don’t even use this Pokemon in battle, since I’m not really a fan of Bug-types, but I definitely have a few of these babies stashed away in my PC Box… You see, Vivillion has a different wing pattern depending on which real world geographical location you catch it in… there are 20 different patterns to collect, two of which were given away during special events! My favorites are the Elegant and Polar designs, they just look so pretty!!
Number Three: Aegislash
I’m not much of a competitive battler, in fact I suck at it, but I know for a fact that Aegislash is one of the best Pokemon to have on your team if you play Pokemon competitively. With it’s Ghost/Steel typing, formidable move pool, and special Stance Change ability, this Pokemon is a force to be reckoned with!
Number Two: Talonflame
It’s a flaming bird, if that’s not badass enough for you I don’t know what is! I usually catch the regional bird Pokemon early on so I can use it to fly around later in the game, but this was the first time I ever used one of them for actual battling! Seriously, Fire-types are my absolute favorite types of Pokemon, so of course I was over the moon about this big guy!!
Number One: Greninja
So, my favorite Pokemon from Gen VI is Greninja, because it’s a ninja frog with the signature move, Water Shuriken, how badass is that?! Plus have you seen it’s shiny form? It’s all black and it’s tongue scarf thing is bright red making it look like a real ninja!! This is the best designed starter final evolution to come out of Gen VI!!
So that’s my list, were there any Pokemon you though should have been on the list that weren’t? Something on the list that you think shouldn’t be? Which Pokemon are your favorites from Gen VI? Let me know what you think in the comments section. If you like what you see, like this post or follow Nice Job Breaking It, Hero! As always THANK YOU FOR READING!!
