TGIF! Here we are again with another Fangirl Friday!! So this week I’m going to return to a series I covered in a previous Fangirl Moment post…. Haikyuu! If you’ve seen my twitter lately, you’ll know that one post was not enough for this amazing series!! So, I’m back with more volleyball induced fangirling with this week’s post about Haikyuu Season 3!
The entire ten episode season covered the final qualifying match for the Spring High Tournament, between Karasuno High and the current national champion team Shiratorizawa. I was literally on the edge of my seat throughout every episode, and the pay off was better than I could have ever dreamed!!

I can’t believe how much the Karasuno team has grown since the start of the series! In season one we see the rebirth of the Karasuno team as they fight to reclaim their former glory as one of the top high school teams in Japan. In season two, we see the newly reformed Karasuno Crows trying to find their groove as a team, with each player growing as they learn to work together as a collective. This season saw a great deal of growth not just from the first years, but everyone on the team! Then comes season three, which builds upon the first two seasons, after all of the setbacks and hardships faced early we finally get to see the team in action during one of their toughest matches yet!
I’m not gonna lie, but I seriously thought Karasuno was going to get their asses handed to them… I know, I know, I’m a horrible fan and I will accept whatever comes my way for admitting that. Don’t get me wrong, I love my Crows as much as the next fan, but even I had to admit that they were out of their league with the Shiratorizawa team… So when they not only went toe to toe with the #1 team in the country, but actually beat them, I was honestly surprised! It wasn’t an outright victory either, Karasuno had to fight tooth and nail for that win and I couldn’t have been more proud of them! But, what really blew me away about this season was their growth as a team.
It’s no secret that there are no outright stars on the Karasuno team, each member has their own strengths and weaknesses and each player gets their time in the spotlight… But, this season we really saw the rise of Tsukki!
OH MY GOSH!!! Tsukki, killed it this season! He went from not caring about the team at all, to giving it all on the court and I couldn’t have been more proud of my boy. The usually apathetic Tsukki really stepped up as a player and you could really tell that he wanted to win just as much as the rest of the team… it was a sight to behold! He was an integral part of this victory…
But, the players that were most affected by this win were the third years! They were with the team when they were at their lowest point, when making it to the finals was just a pipe dream… So for them to not only make it to the qualifying playoffs, but to also beat the number one team in the country… they never imagined they’d be able to do it! So that emotional hug between the third year trio, brought tears to my eyes… it was just so beautiful! I felt their excitement, it was a long road from season one and this victory was a testament to all of their hard work and determination! I’m still recovering from that moment, heck, I’m still recovering from the entire series, and I can’t believe there aren’t any more episodes! :'( I know I’m not alone in wishing that the studio will put out a season four in the near future, but for now, I’ll just have to re-watch seasons 1-3 to keep the Haikyuu withdrawal at bay….
