It’s not uncommon for people to grow attached to anime characters. In most cases we spend a lot of time watching these guys on screen, so it makes sense that we’d grow attached to them. So when an anime character dies, it’s only natural that you feel sad about it….
If I’m being completely honest with you guys, there are actually two anime deaths that I consider to be the saddest anime deaths ever. So, instead of going through the trouble of picking one over the other, I’m just going to share both of them! My picks for saddest anime deaths are…
Jiraiya’s Death from Naruto
So first up is Jiraiya… When this character was first introduced in the series, I never thought I would ever get so attached to him such a lecherous pervert. But, as the series progressed and I learned more about him and his outstanding accomplishments, Jiraiya became one of my favorite Naruto characters. So, I was devastated when he died alone at the hands of his former pupil, Pain! I actually teared up during this scene… it was just so heartbreaking…
Maes Hughes’s Death from Full Metal Alchemist
I know I mentioned this scene during my Day 12 post, so I won’t write much here… but this is by far one of the saddest anime deaths ever! Hughes was such a fun and well liked character, and he did not deserve to die alone in a phone booth like he did. The only consolation is that Roy Mustang gets his revenge on Envy in one of the most epic anime fight scenes ever!
