The Letter is a 2017 horror visual novel from Filipino developers Yangyang Mobile (their most recent project is a rom-com VN, Love Esquire). In the vein of the Japanese horror film, Ju-On (The Grudge internationally), the game focuses on a group of people who unwittingly find themselves the victim of a vengeful ghost when one of them discovers a cursed chain letter in the attic of an old mansion. What follows is a descent into madness and terror as the ghost unleashes her wrath on the game’s ensemble cast of characters.

Hey Hey Heroes, Travelers, and Wandering NPCs! It’s October, and here on Nice Job Breaking It, Hero I’m kicking off the spookiest month of the year with a bunch of horror themed content. It’ll be a month long celebration of all things horror, with horror themed game reviews, lists, and some of course a few very special posts dedicated to one of my favorite horror mangaka, Junji Ito!! Because you simply can’t Google ‘horror manga’ without at least stumbling upon one or two of his iconic works. But, as much as I love Ito and his works, we can’t deny that there are so many other great creepy manga reads that are just as chilling, if not more so than anything the “Master of Horror” has cooked up.
So what better way to start off our journey into terror than by checking out 13 absolutely horrifying manga titles that are guaranteed to have you sleeping with the lights on! From horror anthologies to standalone stories, we’re delving into the deliciously spooky world of horror manga. Hey Hey Heroes, Travelers, and Wandering NPCs, I’m getting back into the swing of things by going back and working through all of the game review requests I received while I was on hiatus. First up is a rather surreal and surprisingly deep short psychological thriller visual novel from Angela He (Zephyo). This is a game unlike anything I have ever played before, with it’s dream-like visuals and stream of consciousness like storytelling, Angela He paints a rather startling picture of the psychological toll addiction and depression can have on one’s life, through the lens of a toxic more-than-one-night stand relationship.
“You’d told me,
Hey, this is a one-time thing, and I said yeah, of course –
Yet here we are.”
..who, exactly, am I waking up next to?
A romance about a more-than-one-night stand;
A psychological thriller about toxic addiction.

Hey hey guys I’m back with yet another Kickstarter campaign! This time around, I’m spotlighting Tamagobun’s upcoming psychological romance visual novel, Silent Voices. Unlike some of the other KS campaigns I have covered before, this will be a free to play release, however, based on what I’ve seen in the demo and the info on the KS page… this game should definitely get your support!

Edit (6/4): The Kickstarter for this game failed to achieve the necessary funds by the deadline. Production of the game is on hold until the developers feel that there is a viable market for it.
Hey, hey guys I’m back with yet another Kickstarter campaign! This time around, I’m spotlighting Team geNe6’s upcoming dark fantasy visual novel, False Elegy. I usually focus on otome games and GxB titles, but this game really stood out from the rest. False Elegy will appeal to a rather diverse audience drawing inspiration from both Western and Japanese media.
The game will be especially appealing to fans of the Fate/Stay series and Tokyo Ghoul which were influential to the developers during production.
