My Last First Kiss: It’s A Date- Ichiya Misono

Here we are with my second attempt at an epilogue review to hold you guys over while I work on some main reviews. This story takes place immediately after the events of the Main Story and it focuses on the MC and Ichiya’s transition from “enemies” to lovers. The story serves as the epilogue to the Main Story and consists of three chapters. It also comes with it’s own special image.

My Lover is an Ice Cold Criminal: Astoria Fates Kiss- Hydra Season 2

It’s taken me awhile, but I’m finally jumping back into the world of Greek gods and godly monsters. While season 1 focused on developing the relationship between Hydra and the MC, Hydra’s season 2 stories focused on the MC and Hydra’s attempts to maintain the relationship. Over the course of the season we see the pair tackle obstacle after obstacle as they learn to trust in themselves and each other.

hydra season 2.png

It’s been a few months since the Hercules incident, and the MC’s life is definitely on the up and up, both professionally and privately. That is until our plucky MC takes a case that will shake Olympus to its very core! If you want to see what I had to say about Hydra’s Season 1, click HERE!

Hello Heroes and Travelers, here we are at the end of another week here on Nice Job Breaking It, Hero! I want to say THANK YOU to everyone for your love and support the other day. Ya’ll don’t know how much your kind words and encouragement mean to me, I actually got a huge energy boost knowing that all of you guys were out there cheering me on!

sycamore thank you

So, I am almost done with my revising my research paper, I found out after Friday’s post that I had until Sunday to get my final edits in to my adviser. So I did what anyone with an extension would do I played Mystic Messenger all night I took the time to go over my previous edits and added some new revisions. My birthday was on the 10th and I had a blast! My BF took me to the aquarium and we walked around Baltimore playing Pokemon GO! There were some awesome Pokemon out there; I caught a Dragonair, a ton of Dratini, a Slowbro, and just enough Magikarps to finally get a Gyarados!!

[Announcement] I’m all out of wack this week!

First don’t worry, this isn’t going to be bad news! I just have a lot on my plate so I wasn’t able to keep up with my blogging schedule like I wanted to… So as most of you know I have been working on revising a research paper I helped write (with two classmates) back in May for my Big Graduation Research Capstone.

The Top 5 Manga that made me go… WTF?!

Have you ever read a manga that made you wonder what kind of person could come up with something like this? A manga that made you think, why does this exist? Well I have! Over the years I have read my fair share of manga titles; some good, some bad, and some that had me scratching my head in confusion. But there were a chosen few manga titles that made me go… WTF is this?

wtf

So, because I had some extra time on my hands and because I wanted to share a tiny bit of my suffering, I decided to compile a list of my Top 5 WTF Manga Titles… I don’t necessarily recommend reading all of the titles on this list (unless you’re a glutton for punishment), but there are one or two that weren’t completely terrible. Just a heads up, there is no order, rhyme, or reason to this list. The manga on this list are in the order that I looked them up and that in no way reflects their overall WTF levels…

*Not all of the manga on this list are licensed in English and that isn’t necessarily a bad thing either.*

Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney- Game Review

Since the sixth Ace Attorney game, Phoenix Wright: Spirit of Justice is set to be released in the US on September 8th I decided to go back and replay all of the Phoenix Wright main series games!  I dunno if I’ll be able to get all the reviews out before the 8th, but I’ll sure as heck give it my best shot!!

Cinderella Phenomenon-Demo Review

Cinderella Phenomenon is an upcoming English otome game that follows a young cold-hearted princess, Lucette, who suddenly finds herself the unwitting victim of a terrible curse. Magic and fairytales collide in this impressively entertaining riches to rags story from Dicesuki, the developers behind the free otome game Locked Heart. Follow Lucette as she learns an important lesson in humanity while attempting to break her curse… and maybe find love along the way.

Prior to the events of the game, there were two crystals that maintained the balance in the world: the Crystallum Lucis and Crystallum Tenebrarum. Each crystal possessed great power, so they were each entrusted to equally powerful magical beings in order to contain their power. The Fairies were given the Crystallum Lucis, which drew its power from positive emotions; while the Witches were given the Crystallum Tenebrarum, which drew its power from negative emotions. Over time people began to associate witches with dark magic and began persecuting them. In retaliation the High Witch created the Fairytale Curse.  Setting in motion a series of events that would have far reaching effects on not only our sullen princess, but all of humanity.

Last Week Today: Week End Recap- Aug. 28th to Sept. 3rd

Hello Heroes and Travelers, here we are at the end of another week here on Nice Job Breaking It, Hero! So, I know I’m super late with this, but it’s Labor Day Weekend here in the States and I have been busy! I have been working in the revisions for the manuscript I mentioned last week. Let me tell you, editing a paper like this is extremely time consuming, and I’ve barely made much headway. In order to get away from the paper for a bit, I went to a thrift store and found a few books that I just had to add to my collection.

A special shout out to The Well-Red Mage and Pink-chan for also nominating me for the Entertainer Blogger Award! Even though I already wrote a post for the award, I still wanted to give a shout out to both of these amazing blogger! Thanks for thinking of me!! 😀

Fangirl Moment: Pokemon 2000

TGIF! Here we are again with another Fangirl Friday! This week I’m going to talk about one of my favorite movies from when I was a kid (and now too)! Today’s post is all about the second Pokemon film, Pokémon: The Movie 2000: The Power of One or Pokemon 2000 for short!

pokemon 2000 box art

This has and shall forever be my favorite Pokemon movie, and before you all start in on how great Pokemon The First Movie is… I know it’s great, I love it too, but I like Pokemon 2000 slightly more and that’s that. Besides you should know this already, but despite technically being from the “Gen I” generation of Pokemon fans, I started my Pokemon journey in Johto. If you want to read more on that, I wrote a whole post about it, HERE.

PokeNews: Victini Distribution

Here we are again with another PokeNews report! We are now eight months into the Pokemon 20th Anniversary Legendary Pokemon Release Event! We’ve seen a host of Pokemon announcements and goodies from Nintendo since we started this thing back in February, from the announcement of Moon and Sun to the release of Pokken Tournament! We’ve got seven legendary Pokemon under our belts already, but it’s time to push forward another legendary, with September’s Victini release!

victini

Victini, the Victory Pokemon, is a psychic/fire type introduced in Pokemon Black and White. Despite being Pokemon 494, Victini sports a Pokedex #000. Victini is said to bring victory to the trainer that it befriends, it also has the ability to generate and share energy.

Victini was originally released through a celebratory movie event event back in 2012. So if you missed your chance to get Victini back then, now is your chance.

Seiyuu Danshi- Demo Review

Seiyuu Danshi is all about choice! In this upcoming 18+ BL visual novel the player takes control of an amateur seiyuu (voice actor) who likes to take things at his own pace. But, years of slacking off have finally caught up to our lazy protagonist (MC-kun) and he finds that his job is on the line… that is unless he wins the prestigious Seiyuu Awards. Follow MC-kun as he attempts to become one of Japan’s top seiyuus and maybe find love along the way!

It has been some time since the Kickstarter campaign for Seiyuu Danshi wrapped up and I am finally getting around to playing the demo… I’m terrible, I know, but better late than never!

[Funded] Let’s Support Legend of Rune an English BL Visual Novel/RPG

Edit (10/4): The Kickstarter for this game was successful at meeting its funding goal and six of the stretch goals. The final funding amount was $29,246 from 651 backers! The game now has a tentative release date of August 2017!

Okay, for once I’m not terribly late with this Kickstarter campaign!! This time I’m covering the upcoming BL visual novel from YesterJoy GamesLegend of Rune!! So what sets this game apart from the rest? Legend of Run combines the immersive story of a visual novel with the puzzles and technical elements of an RPG!

When I first saw this game floating around on Twitter, I was excited because we definitely need more BL visual novels on the market. But then after finding out that it was also part RPG, I nearly broke my laptop in my excitement! I have no doubt that YesterJoy Games’s  debut title, will make a huge splash in the visual novel community.

Sleepover- BL Game Review

Edit: A few months ago Black Monkey Pro disbanded, so Sleepover and all of there other content is no longer available for purchase, but feel free to still give this review a read! For the truely adventurous folks out there, I’m sure you can find a copy of the game online somewhere…

Sleepover is an 18+ PC BL visual novel from Black Monkey Pro an international BL artist circle. The game tells the story of Haruyuki Kano, a young man who has secretly been in love with his best friend, Sato Hideaki (Aki) since they were children. Not wanting to ruin their friendship, Kano has done his best to keep his feelings to himself. But when a freak rain storm forces Aki to spend the night at his house, Kano finds himself with a once in a lifetime opportunity. Will Kano finally tell Aki how he feels or will he be content being “just friends”? Whatever you choose, Aki and Kano’s relationship will never be the same again!

You asked for more BL, so here it is… The things I do for my fellow BL/yaoi fans out there… I kid, I actually bought this game a few months ago on a whim, but I never got around to playing it until now. There are two versions of the game: the Uncensored version which is $29.99 and the Censored version which is $14.99. So, if you are interested in the game, I strongly urge you to purchase it from Black Monkey directly. Black Monkey Pro disbanded, the game is no longer available for purchase!

*Disclaimer: I don’t own the images used in this review, all CGs and screenshots belong to Black Monkey. Since this game is NSFW there will be some NSFW images after this point. I tried my best to hide some of the naughty bits, but… *shrugs* you’ve been warned!

[Funded]Let’s Show Our Support for the… A Foretold Affair Kickstarter

Edit (9/23): The Kickstarter for this game was successful at meeting its funding goal and the game was successfully Greenlit for Steam. The final funding amount was $2,969 with 111 backers! The game now has a tentative release date of January 2017!

So as usual, I’m a day late and a dollar short with yet another Kickstarter campaign! This time around I’m covering the upcoming steampunk fantasy visual novel developed by GB Patch, A Foretold Affair! I literally came across this Kickstarter campaign a day or two ago and I am ashamed to admit that there are only a handful of days left (the campaign ends Sept 16th).

The Story

Of all of the Kickstarter campaigns I’ve covered so far this year, this quite possibly one of the most unique. I really hope that this project reaches it’s funding goal, because this is a very intriguing story idea.

A Foretold Affair takes place in a world in which society is divided between that of the Abnormals (those with special abilities) and the Normals (those without).  The games protagonist, Buffalo Seer, is Abnormal who’s special ability allows them to see the future. However, even among Abnormals this power is uncommon and those that posses it are advised against using it. Undeterred, Seer decides to peer into their own future and what they find changes their life forever.

Last Week Today: Week End Recap- Aug. 21st to Aug. 27th

Hello Heroes and Travelers, here we are at the end of another week here on Nice Job Breaking It, Hero!As some of you may know I was experiencing some technical difficulties with WordPress. Earlier this week I found myself unable to comment on other bloggers’s posts… So imagine my surprise when I discovered that all of my comments were being sent to you guy’s spam folders! I have since had the problem fixed, but I suggest you all check your spam folders regularly in case others are experiencing the same problem.

Okay now that I’m done with that, I actually have some good news! We finally heard back from the journal we sent our manuscript to… *drumroll* They want us to fix some things and resubmit… I know it sounds bad, but this is actually really good news and the comments they had were mostly positive. But, since I’m the first author on the paper, I’m responsible for bringing the paper up to snuff. So, what does that mean for you guys and the blog? Well, the paper takes priority, so if I go ghost you know why…

[Review] English Visual Novel-The Shadows That Run Alongside Our Car

The Shadows That Run Alongside Our Car is a newly released Pay-What-You-Want visual novel from Lox Rain (Lorelei, Laiska, and Auro-Cyanide). The game which was created over the span of four days, features two character routes and six endings.

The road is long.

Two strangers sit side by side as night falls over. The car speeds down the open highway.

Without a soul around them, everything seems to slip away. On a journey to no one knows where, all they have is words and time. And that time is dwindling fast.

The shadows are chasing.

Official Description

*Disclaimer: This is a SPOILER FREE review! Also all of the images used in this review belong Lox Rain!

Fangirl Moment: Waiting

TGIF! Here we are again with another Fangirl Friday! This week I’m going to take a break from the usual Fangirl Moment topics and bring you another book post! For today’s post I’ll be covering one of my favorite books, Waiting by Ha Jin!

waiting.jpg

I originally stumbled upon this book years ago on my high school AP reading list. Back then the prospect of a summer reading list was not very appealing, especially for an AP Literature class.

So, I reluctantly braved the thick Atlanta heat for a trip to my local library, with the dreaded AP reading list in hand. After briefly scanning the list again, I mentally noted the most promising titles and began searching the packed shelves. I emerged with four books: One Hundred Years of Solitude,  The Kite Runner, The Picture of Dorian Gray, and Waiting.  I read all of them, except One Hundred Years of Solitude (I fell asleep on that one multiple times), but the book that left the biggest impression on me was Waiting.  Continue reading “Fangirl Moment: Waiting”

If I were a Gym Leader: My Pokemon Gym-Pokemon Tag

2016 marks the 20th Anniversary of Pokemon and since February the Pokemon Company has been pulling out all of the stops to set the world aflame with Pokemon fever. From the announcement of Pokemon Sun and Moon to the release of the Pokemon Go mobile app, this has been a good year for Pokemon fans (old and new)!

So if you guys will remember back to the 7/3-7/9 Last Week Today post’s Blogger Spotlight, I talked about Magnitude Reviews and their post Pokemon Sun and Moon: My Pokemon Gym. In that post they describe their ideal Pokemon Gym in great detail, from the design of the gym to the types of Pokemon they’d use. As a long time Pokemon fan I thought it was a very fun post… but what I didn’t know was that this was a tag post. So imagine my surprise, when I received a Twitter notification letting me know that I’d been tapped to make a post of my own. So, thank you Matt-in-the-Hat for tagging me!! XD You can read Matt’s post, My Pokemon Gym- Pokemon Tag, by clicking the link.

The concept for this post came from youtuber Bird Keeper Toby, who made a video detailing what their Pokemon gym would be like if they were a Pokemon Gym Leader! So check out the video below:

Okay so now that that’s out of the way, here’s what I’d want my own Pokemon Gym to be like if I were a Pokemon Gym Leader!!

Sentimental Trickster- Demo Review

A few weeks ago, Justyna Pustelnik contacted me via Twitter about maybe taking a look at the demo for her upcoming BL visual novel, Sentimental Trickster. However, when I received the request I was wrapping up the 30 Day Anime Challenge (and in need of a break), so I wasn’t able to play the demo right away. But, I was able to talk with Justyna through Twitter and after reviewing the Kickstarter campaign, I was able to bang out a Kickstarter Support post for the game.

I originally planned on getting back to the demo after my Blogging Vacation, but one thing led to another and the demo ended up further down on my To Do List than I would have hoped… forgive me! So, I know this is late, but better late than never… right? So, with the Kickstarter winding down, I figured the time was ripe for a demo review in order to generate more buzz for the game as it nears its final days!

Last Week Today: Week End Recap- Aug. 14th to Aug. 20th

Hello Heroes and Travelers, here we are at the end of another week here on Nice Job Breaking It, Hero! So I’m back on my job application grind and to be honest, I find the whole process dull! I have filled in the same sections over and over and over again, and I am so over it…

over it

Thank goodness for the weekend! I met up with one of my friends from school and we went to Momofuku… and my gosh was the food tasty! Their Brisket Buns were to die for and don’t get me started on their Beef Noodle Soup… After chowing down, I actually went to see Sausage Party… for FREE! Apparently I go to the movies so much that I earned enough points for a free movie ticket! The movie was most definitely not for children and I’ll just leave it at that!

Fangirl Moment: Haikyu!!

TGIF! Here we are again with another Fangirl Friday! This week I’m going back to my otaku roots a bit, by covering an anime series that was suggested to me by the outstanding Katrina Sade over at Grimmgirl.com! If you have been following my twitter, you know without a doubt that I have been seriously obsessing over the sports anime series Haikyu!!

I’m not really a fan of sports anime, in fact I usually go out of my way to avoid them when I can… So when Kat suggested that I watch Haikyu, let’s just say that I wasn’t expecting much. In fact, the first and last sports anime that I every cared enough about to keep up with was Prince of Tennis and that was years ago. But, along came Haikyu and it just blew everything else out of the water!

First Thoughts-Norn9: Var Commons

Before I start this review I have a confession to make, I didn’t buy this game when it first came out… I actually waited until it went on sale during one of PSN’s Flash Sales, so I don’t have any buyers remorse like some folks do. In fact I think I came out like a bandit with this game, because to be honest, Norn9 is worth exactly what I paid for it (and let’s remember that I paid $35 for Alice in the Heart)!

I try to remain neutral when starting a new game, that way I can be as unbiased as possible in my reviews. However, with Norn9: Var Commons that was easier said than done… Since it’s release in the West, Norn9 has been met with some pretty mixed reviews.  On one side of the spectrum are the positive reviews which praise Norn9 for it’s unique plot and interesting characters. Then there are the negative reviews, that point out the various inconsistencies between routes and the gratuitous liberties Aksys took with the translation from Japanese to English. So, I didn’t know what to expect when we in That Game Club decided to pick up Norn9 as our next group gaming experience.

*Disclaimer: All images and screenshots from Norn9 used in this review belong to Idea Factory and Otomate. Please if you are interested in the game, purchase a copy from your local game shop,  Aksys, Amazon.com,  or the PSN Store!*

Forbidden Romance: Dangerous Relationship-Taiga Saeba

I don’t know what’s wrong with me, but I must be a glutton for punishment. If you don’t remember my first foray with D3Publisher’s Dangerous Relationship, click the link….HERE, and relive my rage induced review of Kei Toyonaga’s route. *clears throat* I was growing a bit bored with my Voltage backlog, so I decided to switch gears a bit and check out some of the other mobile otoge on my iPad… Unfortunately, my curiosity got the better of me and I found myself clicking the Dangerous Relationship app once again.

FR Dangerous Relationship

After the tragedy that was Kei’s route, I willingly dove head first back into the fast paced world of celebrity drama with another playthrough of Forbidden Romance: Dangerous Relationship… From the minute I started up the app I was fully prepared to rage quit, as I hesitantly clicked Taiga Saeba’s main story… I mean come on he can’t possibly be as bad as Kei…. Right? *laughs nervously* Right?!

**Disclaimer: I DO NOT own any of the images used in this review, ALL images, screenshots, and characters belong to D3Publisher. Please if you are interested in the game, download the game for free in the App Store or from Google Play and purchase the stories when they are available in your area.**

[Funded]Let’s Show Our Support for Queen’s Crown an English Otome!

Edit (9/12): The Kickstarter for this game was successful at meeting its funding goal and FIVE of the stretch goals. The final funding amount was $11,553 with 302 backers! The game now has a tentative release date of December 2017!

I’m trying something new with these Kickstarter announcements… In the future I plan to publish Kickstarter Support posts the same week that I announce them in Last Week Today post… So, the first Kickstarter campaign to follow this new system is Queen’s Crown, an upcoming Medieval Fantasy romance visual novel! Follow the link below to see the trailer for the game (WordPress won’t let me embed the video for some reason)…

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/490618601/queens-crown/widget/video.html

I absolutely love historical fantasy books and television shows, so when I saw that there was an upcoming visual novel with similar themes I just knew I had to check it out! The Kickstarter claims that the game is inspired notable fantasy powerhouses such as, “A Song of Ice and Fire”  and the “Dragon Age series”… My only question is, Where do I sign up?!”

Last Week Today: Week End Recap- Aug. 7th to Aug. 13th

Hello Heroes and Travelers, here we are at the end of another week here on Nice Job Breaking It, Hero! As most of you already know, August 11th was my 1 Year Blogiversary!! I can’t believe it’s been a full year since I started my blogging journey with you all and I can’t wait to see where this journey takes me in the future! So, THANK YOU all for sticking it out with me while I got the hang of this blogging thing!

yeah

Oh, yeah… I was so caught up in the afterglow of my 1 Year Blogiversary, that I almost forgot to mention this, but I have glasses now! My eyesight has been kind of shaky for a little while now, nothing serious, just a bit fuzzy when I read to much. So, I went in for an eye exam and they prescribed reading glasses…

Fangirl Moment: The Little Prince

TGIF! Here we are again with another Fangirl Friday! This week I’m going to take a break from the usual Fangirl Moment topics and bring you yet another film! Today’s post is all about the 2015 animated film adaptation of Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s  acclaimed novella, The Little Prince.

The Little Prince  tells the tale of a young boy who leaves his home on a small asteroid in space, for a journey that takes him to the far reaches of the galaxy. Through his travels the boy sees many strange sights and meets a host of characters before eventually winding up on Earth where he meets a stranded pilot in the Sahara Desert. Despite being styled as a children’s book, The Little Prince contains philosophical themes on love, loss, and human nature.

Nice Job Breaking It, Hero is 1 Years Old Today!!

Hello Heroes and Travelers, I have a huge announcement to make… Nice Job Breaking It, Hero is 1 years old today!

celebrate pokemon.gif

It was one year ago today that I started Nice Job Breaking It, Hero! When I started this blog, I was in my final year of graduate school writing my umpteenth infectious disease research paper…

I’m finishing up my final year of my Masters in Global Health, which means I do a lot of research writing. Mostly about infectious disease, health policy, advocacy, and other public health stuff. Don’t get me wrong I love the health field, especially mental health in developing countries, but sometimes you just need a break! So I started this blog as a way to appease my inner procrastinator. I often get really distracted when I have assignments, the bigger the paper the worse it is, so I came up with a brilliant plan! The idea was that as long as I was going to procrastinate on that important research proposal, I might as well do something semi-productive….I mean procrastinating is fine as long as I’m writing about something.

(Excerpt from my Blogger Recognition post)

I started this blog on a whim, so I never imagined that one year later, not only would I still be writing posts for this blog, but that my little exercise in procrastination would have grown so much! If you have been with me since the beginning, you know that Nice Job Breaking It, Hero looks nothing like it did back then… not even close… To be honest this blog was all over the place back then, there was no rhyme or reason, I just posted what I wanted when I wanted. But, I stuck with it and eventually it became the controlled chaos it is today and I couldn’t be more proud of it! But, this isn’t the end, far from it… both me and the blog have more growing to do and I can’t wait to see where this blogging journey takes me in the future!

My Lover is the Silent Swordsman of the Shinsengumi- Era of Samurai: Code of Love- Hajime Saito

So now that the Fans’ Choice Awards are over, Voltage has started releasing stories again and first up is the one character I have been looking forward to the most: Hajime Saito! I have been patiently awaiting this silent swordsman since the day this game was announced… I love Hajime Saito. I’m going to say something that is going to piss off the Soji Okita fans…*inhales deeply* Hajime Saito is my favorite member of the Shinsengumi!

I went into this story expecting Voltage to bring me the moon on a string and I got that and more. I didn’t think anything could be more heartbreakingly tragic than Soji Okita’s route, but I was mistaken. Hajime Saito was definitely worth the wait!

**Disclaimer: I DO NOT own any of the images used in this review, ALL images, screenshots, and characters belong to Voltage Inc. Please if you are interested in the game, download the game for free in the App Store or from Google Play and purchase the stories when they are available in your area.**

My Lover is a Mischievous God: Star Crossed Myth-Ichthys Review

I have a confession to make… I was never interested in Ichthys, nor did I have any intention of purchasing his route. Happy-go-lucky, prankster types aren’t my favorite characters, in fact I would have gone on ignoring this route, had it not gone on sale during the last Voltage Super Sale…

IMG_2706

But, after playing through Ichthys’s Main Story, I’m glad I purchased this route and gave this silly guy a chance. Ichthys is the god of Pisces, and the god that just doesn’t know when to quit. Despite being harmless his jokes and pranks tend to incur the ire of those around him, especially his bosses Scorpio and Zyglavis. But, there is more to his pranks than just having a good time, there’s something sad about this fun loving god.

[Full Game Review] English Otome-C14 Dating

C14 Dating is the newest title from English game developer, Winter Wolves, the folks behind the English otome games, Always Remember MeThe Flowershop series, and Nicole.

I am a huge fan of Winter Wolves, so when they released C14 Dating back in March, I was ready with money in hand! However, I was finishing up my final semester of grad school, so I wasn’t able to play the game until just recently… But this game was definitely worth the wait! I’ve played almost all of Winter Wolves’s previous dating sim/visual novels and I can say with some certainty that C14 Dating is one of the best the developer has to offer.

Last Week Today: Week End Recap-Jul. 31st to Aug. 6th

Hello Heroes and Travelers, here we are at the end of another week here on Nice Job Breaking It, Hero! I am computerless right now… The charger for my laptop finally decided to kick the bucket and my computer battery is dead. So, that means I can’t really post until I can get a replacement charger. Before you suggest Best Buy… I went there they don’t have any that work with my Samsung series 5 laptop.

tumblr_mdbig7g5zN1ry8a5uo1_500

I had to borrow my BF’s laptop to write this post and he has a Mac so I won’t make a habit of borrowing his laptop too often. On a slightly more positive note, I’ve been exploring DC way more than I have in the past! I walked around Georgetown, the Zoo, and the capital all in the name of Pokemon and to a lesser degree for exercise.

PokeNews: Arceus Distribution

Here we are again with another PokeNews report! We are now seven months into the Pokemon 20th Anniversary Legendary Pokemon Release Event! We’ve seen a host of Pokemon announcements and goodies from Nintendo since February, from the announcement of Moon and Sun to the release of Pokken Tournament! We’ve got six legendary Pokemon under our belts already, but it’s time to push forward with the Pokemon god Arceus and August’s  release!

arceus.gif

Arceus, the Alpha Pokemon, also known as the “Original One” is said to be the creator of the entire Pokemon universe and god in its own right. Despite being a normal type, its ability Multitype, when coupled with any one of the Plate items allows Arceus to change its type at will. It is the leader of the fourth generation lake guardians and the creation trio, and thought to be the first Pokemon (which contradicts the Mew myth).

Hello Heroes and Travelers, here we are at the end of another week here on Nice Job Breaking It, Hero! I… am… finally… done… with… the… 30 Day Anime Challenge!!! All I have to say about the challenge as a whole right now is, NEVER AGAIN…at least not anytime soon…

hallelujah

I kid, I kid… I had a lot of fun with the challenge and I really hope that you guys had as much fun reading my posts as I had writing them!! In other news, I was featured in Lita Kino’s  Blogger Feature Friday post! I am so humbled to have been featured by such an wonderful blogger! So I want to extend yet another THANK YOU to Lita Kino, you are an amazing blogger and I am so happy that you took the time to visit my tiny corner of the internet! Lita is such a great blogger and I have had the pleasure of chatting with them both here on WordPress and on Twitter; so if you haven’t already check out her blog it’s one of the best!!

Finally, I went to a DC Pokemon GO Meetup Event and it was a blast!! I had so much fun exploring the Capital and meeting fellow Pokemon Trainers from the District! My legs may be sore and I have a bit of a tan, but the Pokemon at the Capital were top notch! After less than 10 minutes of walking we ran into a Rhydon, an Onix, and a whole host of other Pokemon! Oh yeah, and my Team, Instinct was really holding it down! Not only were we dropping Lures, but we were taking Gyms left and right!! Sure it rained a bit, but it wasn’t enough to keep us in the District down!!

[Funded]Support Sentimental Trickster an English BL Visual Novel

Edit (8/30): The Kickstarter for this game was successful at meeting its funding goal and two of the stretch goals. The final funding amount was $9,036 with 328 backers! The game now has a tentative release date of March 2017!

I am super late with this, but, about a week ago an indie game developer actually reached out to me on twitter about their new 18+ BL visual novel, Sentimental Trickster! As you all know I am a lover of all things BL, so best believe I was over the moon to hear about another indie BL visual novel!!!

It’s taken me awhile, but I finally got around to playing the demo and I can’t wait to see the final product!! The game is the brain child of one woman, so everything you see in the demo was put together by one person! Talk about dedication!

30 Day Anime Challenge- Day 30: An anime I wish never ended and just continued its story

The day is finally here! I did it! I managed to actually finish the 30 Day Anime Challenge in thirty consecutive days!! As much fun as this challenge was, I’m kind of glad that it’s finally over so I can finally relax! So, today’s post is about an anime that I wish would never end…

neverending story.gif

My pick for today’s prompt is an anime series that I’ve written about before during one of my Fangirl Moment posts… Since there are only two anime related FM posts, it should be obvious which one I picked. So my pick for an anime you wish never ended and just continued its story is…

Fangirl Moment: The Dark Heroine- Dinner With a Vampire

TGIF! Here we are again with another Fangirl Friday, and this week I’m covering the first book in the Dark Heroine Series, Dinner with a Vampire by Abigail Gibbs!

dh

I don’t know if I mentioned this, but I used to work at a Barnes and Noble when I was an undergrad, sure I only worked in the cafe, but even that gave me access to some sweet discounts on books (and Starbucks drinks). But, the real perk, the one that made my two years there worthwhile, was the access to Advanced Reader Copies (ARCs) of upcoming books!

There were tons of them from various authors and genres, and they were all F-R-E-E! Every other day there would be a fresh stack of titles in the break room and if I got there early enough, I had my pick of the litter! I read so many awesome books working there, but one that really stuck out was a dark supernatural romance YA novel. I picked it up on a whim, briefly skimmed the summary on the back and after judging it mildly interesting, I  tossed it into my employee locker. It wasn’t until a few weeks later that I actually read the book, but when I did I was hooked!

30 Day Anime Challenge- Day 29: An anime I wish was real

Oh my gosh, the second to last post, I can’t believe I actually pulled off 29 consecutive Anime Challenge posts so far… I thought I’d have slipped up by now, but it never happened! So, today I’m supposed to talk about an anime that I wished was real…

take on me

I’m not much of a fighter, so my pick isn’t Naruto or Bleach or anything like that… I considered a reverse harem anime, because why not… but, stringing along all those bishies at once just seems like a lot more work than I want to deal with. So I went with something that I’ve been hoping for since I was eight years old! So, my pick for an anime that I wish were real is…

30 Day Anime Challenge- Day 28: Favorite quote from an anime character

I’m really riding the highs and the lows with this challenge… Some choices for this challenge were ridiculously hard, while others were a walk in the park! This choice was one of the latter, I knew what I would write about for this post since Day 11. I just didn’t know how I wanted to write about it…So, for today’s post I decided to mimic an earlier set of posts I did for the 3-Day Quote Challenge.

pusheen-writing-book-animated-gif

Again, no intro/teaser for today’s post, I’m just gonna dive right in… So my pick for my favorite quote from an anime character is…

30 Day Anime Challenge- Day 27: Most badass scene from an anime character

So if I thought some of the other prompts were vague, this one takes the cake! What the heck do they mean by badass? Is it the coolest fight? ‘Cus I already answered that question… Is it the most epic moment? ‘Cus I answered that too… I’m starting to realize that there is a lot of overlap between the Challenge prompts and my answers.

sailor moon confused

I had a hard time coming up with my pick for this post, so again I took this in a completely different direction than this prompt intended… So my pick for the most badass scene from an anime character is…

30 Day Anime Challenge-Day 26: Best Anime Fight

It’s Day 26 of the 30 Day Anime Challenge, we are so close to the end that I can almost taste it! So today I’m supposed to talk about my favorite anime fight… Well, I’ve seen a lot of anime fights over the years so picking one as the best is not an easy choice.

fight.gif

So the idea for this post’s choice came from fellow blogger, Katrina Sade’s Day 23 Anime Challenge post! After reading her Roy Mustang post, I knew exactly which fight scene I was going to write about for this post… My pick for the best anime fight scene is…

30 Day Anime Challenge- Day 25: Saddest Anime Death

It’s not uncommon for people to grow attached to anime characters. In most cases we spend a lot of time watching these guys on screen, so it makes sense that we’d grow attached to them. So when an anime character dies, it’s only natural that you feel sad about it….

he's dead jim.jpg

If I’m being completely honest with you guys, there are actually two anime deaths that I consider to be the saddest anime deaths ever. So, instead of going through the trouble of picking one over the other, I’m just going to share both of them! My picks for saddest anime deaths are…

30 Day Anime Challenge- Day 24: The moment that shocked me the most in an anime

Anime is known for having some pretty shocking moments, some good and some… not so good. Love ’em or hate ’em, these scenes are sure to make you go, ‘WTF’!

shocked.gif

So this scene had me jumping up and down when it happened… This one moment came so completely out of left field that I just couldn’t believe what I was seeing! My pick for the moment that shocked me the most in an anime is…

Last Week Today: Week End Recap- Jul. 17th to Jul. 23rd

Hello Heroes and Travelers, here we are at the end of another week here on Nice Job Breaking It, Hero! Okay guys I have some big news… Remember the summer job I mentioned back in June? Well, my paperwork was finally finished and I finally have a start date: My official start date is August 1st! Woohoo!!! So what kind of job is it? I will be doing what I love to do, research! My alma mater received a grant from the Department of Health to take part in a public health research project and I was brought on to work on the data analysis portion of the project! I’ll also be administering some of the surveys for the project too!! But, what’s really exciting about this project is that it is completely run and operated by women of color!! So I am doubly exciting to be working with such a dynamic team of women, doing something that I love!!

celebrate.gif

So what is going to top that? Not much, the rest of my week seems pretty mundane in comparison, but I’m gonna share it anyway!! I saw the new Ghostbusters movie, and I was pleasantly surprised at how much I liked it! The film was much better than I anticipated… Hmm, let’s see,  I went to Six Flags with some friends which was fun until I realized I’d gotten sun burn on my face… Reason #1 why I limit my outdoor activity time during the Summer…

30 Day Anime Challenge: Day 23-Favorite attack someone used in an anime

I feel like my answers for these posts are getting sillier and sillier the longer this challenge goes on. So if you are expecting a serious answer Day 23’s prompt: My favorite anime attack… you’ve come to the wrong place. In fact this is probably one of the silliest attacks used in an anime, but that doesn’t mean I didn’t think long and hard about my answer…

thinking

You know what I’m not going to do an introduction for my choice this time, in fact I’m going to just get right to it… My pick for my favorite attack someone used in an anime is…

30 Day Anime Challenge- Day 22: Favorite Weapon/Gear from an anime

I don’t know what it is, maybe it’s because this is the final stretch of the challenge, but these posts are getting much easier to write! When I saw this prompt I immediately knew what I wanted to write about… It’s day 22 of the challenge and today’s topic is anime weapons. When we typically think of anime weapons we think of big guns and even bigger swords…

ichigo sword

Well I went in a completely different direction, and picked a rather unconventional anime weapon. So my pick for my favorite anime weapon/gear is…

Fangirl Moment: Orange Junk

*Art & comic belong to Heldrad all images are used with permission from the author*

TGIF! Here we are again with another Fangirl Friday! Last week I covered a webcomic I had just recently discovered, this week I’ll be covering one that I’ve been following for over a year! The comic I’m covering this week is Orange Junk, a  slice-of-life, romance, comedy webcomic series by Heldrad.

When Louise’s wealthy family loses everything, she has to pull herself up by her bootstraps and start over in a new high school – where the smartest boy is the meanest, and the hottest boy is the weirdest. But Louise needs tutoring, so the three become a team… It’s a riches to rags school story with a whole lot of screaming.

30 Day Anime Challenge- Day 21: Favorite goofy character from an anime

Here we are the final 10 posts of the 30 Day Anime Challenge, so let’s get the ball rolling with Day 21, My favorite goofy character from an anime. Okay so I’m going to take some liberties with this prompt by picking a character that isn’t necessarily goofy, but has still given me a good laugh!

laughing

This one is from the Spring 2016 Anime season…which I realize makes my choice kind of obvious. This character isn’t goofy per se, instead they are ridiculously over the top in their way of doing thing, making them one of the most unintentionally hilarious anime characters I have seen in a long time. So my pick for my favorite goofy character from an anime is…

30 Day Anime Challenge- Day 20: An Anime character that gets on my nerves

We all have them, that one character that we just can’t stand! The character that pisses you off ever single time they show up on screen. Maybe they are the antagonist that always seems to get in the way of the hero, maybe they’re one the protagonist’s allies, or maybe they’re the protagonist of the series. Whoever they are, you can be sure that just seeing them is enough to get your blood boiling…

angry

This was actually a pretty easy prompt to write for… I’m starting to sense a pattern with this Challenge, the posts about things I dislike are much easier to write than the posts about things I like…

30 Day Anime Challenge- Day 19: Most Epic Scene Ever

Okay, Day 19 of the 30 Day Anime Challenge and at first I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to answer this question. I actually had to think back through all of the anime series that I’d watched over the years for the perfect scene. After a few days of thinking, it hit me!

aha_coming_to_america.gif

I went back to one of the first anime series I’d ever watched, for this prompt, one of the most dramatic anime series that I’ve ever seen. This is one of those scenes that is so over the top and dramatic that it winds up being hilarious! I can’t tell you guys how many times I have replayed this scene over the years and I still manage to laugh every single time! In fact the hardest decision I made for this prompt was whether to pick the English dub of the clip or the English subs. So my pick for the most epic anime scene is… Continue reading “30 Day Anime Challenge- Day 19: Most Epic Scene Ever”

30 Day Anime Challenge- Day 18: My Favorite Supporting Female Anime Character

So today I’m talking about my favorite supporting female anime character… I dunno what it is, but it is harder for me to choose my favorite female characters. You’d think that being a woman would make choosing a favorite female character easy but I don’t really rate female characters, so this was kind of a hard choice for me…

tough choice

Then it hit me, I knew exactly which character I wanted to write about! Most of you could argue that this character is technically a main character since she appears in a majority of her anime’s episodes. But, the main focus of an anime character is mostly on another character. So my pick for my favorite supporting female anime character is…

Last Week Today: Week End Recap- Jul. 10th to Jul. 16th

Hello Heroes and Travelers, here we are at the end of another week here on Nice Job Breaking It, Hero! So, it’s been over a week since Pokemon Go was released in the US and boy have I been working out my leg muscles… Unfortunately the weather where I live has been 90° F and up, so every time I set foot outside I end up dripping with sweat…

sweating

I still have yet to start my Summer Job, but I did participate in one of the Team Meetings so maybe that means my paperwork is almost done… Right? At this point I just want to start! Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy doing nothing all day as much as the next person, but too much free time just makes me lazy. Finally, a special announcement…

I hit 100 Followers this past week!! I can’t believe that there are that many people out there that enjoy reading my awkward ramblings and reviews!! I started this blog almost a year ago, and I never would have imagined that it would grow into the blog it is today! I want to thank each and every one of you guys out there in the WordPress community for being so supportive and welcoming! I have met some amazing bloggers and made some amazing new friends! I still have more stories to tell and more lessons to learn, and I sincerely hope you guys will tough it out with me far into the future!

30 Day Anime Challenge- Day 17: My Favorite Supporting Male Anime Character

It’s Day 17 and I’m supposed to talk about my favorite supporting male character… Well, I have quite a few favorite supporting characters, so this choice was much more difficult than I thought it would be…

easy.gif

Sometimes the supporting characters are better than the actual protagonist. I dunno, there is just something unique about supporting characters, that just makes them easier to relate to. Unlike protagonists, they don’t necessarily follow a specific pattern which allows for a greater degree of variability in their characterization. Which is the case with my pick, this guy is so much cooler that the protagonist… it’s a shame that they killed him off though. My pick for my favorite supporting male anime character is…

30 Day Anime Challenge- Day 16: Anime with the Best Animation

It’s day 16 of the challenge and this time I had to choose the anime with the best animation. I’m not going to lie this was a tough one for me because I don’t really pay much attention to the animation. At least not enough to discern bad animation from good animation. So when I read this prompt I was at a loss for which anime to select…

waaah

What makes this choice even harder, is that the prompt is kind of vague. Do I choose an anime with the best overall animation or one that animates certain scenes really well? In the end, I gave up on being technical about it and just picked an anime. I saw this anime a little while ago, but I remember really liking the animation… large noses aside.  So, my pick for the anime with the best animation is…

Fangirl Moment: Satan and Me

TGIF! Here we are again with another Fangirl Friday! This week I am covering another webcomic that I stumbled upon during my recent internet travels called Satan and Me. So first, before you guys go running for the hills just from the title…. hear me out okay! So I was browsing a friend’s Tumblr page when I came across this post:

Yeah, soak that in for a bit… hilarious right, ladys, we’ve all wondered about those stupid designs manufacturers put on sanitary napkins. I mean come on they are essentially useless, so why bother even putting them on there in the first place? Beats me…well after laughing at the original post I scrolled down to read the reblog comments, and I’m glad I did because this thing just got 10x better. Upon closer inspection I saw that another Tumblr user, Orange Plum, took the idea and ran with it… the result, a hilariously addictive webcomic!

**I don’t own the images, they are the work of Orangeplum, the comic can be found on Tumblr and on Tapastic.**

30 Day Anime Challenge- Day 15: Favorite animal sidekick/pet or summoning from any anime

Woohoo, this is the halfway mark!! When I first saw this prompt the first thing I thought was, Oh crap, welp that was quick! I thought I’d blown the whole challenge, I had no idea what the heck I was going to write about. Usually when I watch anime I watch the human characters, I don’t really pay attention to the animal companions… that is unless you count Pokemon, which I feel like is cheating. But then, I did some thinking and then it hit me!

roy is a dog person

I don’t know whether to consider this character a summoning or a sidekick, he’s probably both. He’s a magical guardian with a bit of a sweet tooth, but don’t call him cute! With his small body it’s easy to underestimate his true potential, and let me tell you it’s huge! My pick for my favorite animal sidekick/pet or summoning from any anime is…

30 Day Anime Challenge- Day 14: An Anime that never gets old no matter how many times I watch it

Sometimes you come across an anime that no matter how many times you watch it just never gets old. You know, a show that you can watch five or more times and still find the characters and their stories fresh and exciting.

spongebob tv

I love this series, no matter how many times I re-watch this show it never gets old. Even after knowing how everything turns out, I still end up on the edge of my seat at every single time I watch it, because it is just that good! This is one of the few series that I wish was ongoing. So my pick for an anime that never gets old no matter how much I watch it is…
