The Shadows That Run Alongside Our Car is a newly released Pay-What-You-Want visual novel from Lox Rain (Lorelei, Laiska, and Auro-Cyanide). The game which was created over the span of four days, features two character routes and six endings.
The road is long.
Two strangers sit side by side as night falls over. The car speeds down the open highway.
Without a soul around them, everything seems to slip away. On a journey to no one knows where, all they have is words and time. And that time is dwindling fast.
The shadows are chasing.

First, I can’t believe that I’m finally done with this game! DRAMAtical Murder was the first game I reviewed on this blog and it has taken me nine whole months to get through it all. This is a huge achievement for me, I usually play one route and never touch the game again. I have game commitment issues lol…. So, unlike the other reviews I plan on keeping this as short as possible, so I can fit in my overall final thoughts on the game at the end, besides I pretty much got all my ranting out in the Tumblr live blog. I will try to keep the spoilers to a minimum, but this is the True canon route of the game, so that might be easier said than done. So without further ado, the last DMMd route, here’s Ren!

I was feeling pretty low after finishing Mink’s route, in fact, I completely lost all desire to even finish this game at all….but after taking a few days away from DMMd, I gained some of my fighting spirit back. So, after seeing Clear’s antics in the common route, I was expecting this to be one of the more light-hearted routes of the game (which I seriously needed after finishing Mink’s route). Clear is the most upbeat of the available love interests, and his route is full of hilariously over the top moments. I think I laughed myself silly during the first half of the route, but suddenly without me noticing, Clear’s route did a complete 180. There is so much more to Clear than meets the eye, and I never expected this route to be the most emotional and heart-wrenching route of the game.
Clear is a mysterious character, as you can see from his above character profile, very little is known about him at the beginning of the game. He is a very energetic and friendly, but his odd mannerisms often confuse those around him. He’s like a cute puppy following the others around as they plan their assault on Toue.

I was not looking forward to this route, in fact I was planning on skipping Mink’s route all together. But, in order to unlock Ren’s route, I had to complete the Good Ending for Koujaku, Noiz, Clear and Mink… So, I had no choice but to suffer through it. Mink is perhaps my least favorite route of the game, even before I played it, I wasn’t very interested in Mink as a “love interest”. Even now after playing through his entire story, I’m still not a fan.
Mink is the leader of the prison Rhyme team Scratch, and to be honest that’s all that anyone really knows about him. He shares little with his fellow team members, and has a tendency to speak with his fists. But, beneath his stoic exterior lies a complex character whose emotions run much deeper than anyone around him could ever imagine. I was surprised by this route, I definitely got to see a different side of Mink than I expected.

It has really been a long time since I last picked up this game. DRAMAtical Murder and the Koujaku reviews were my first ever reviews on this blog, and here I am almost seven months later writing another one. Boy has the time flown by…my only hope is that I’ve improved some since those first reviews (at least I think I have). I have since written an updated review of DRAMAtical Murder, which can be found, HERE. After muddling through Koujaku’s route, I set my sights on Noiz… But, I was so overwhelmed by how dull Koujaku’s route was that I put DMMd on the back burner until I could forget about it. Well it took seven months, and here I am finally ready to give DMMd another shot!
I did not expect to love this route as much as I did, but oh boy did I ever! Noiz is hands down my favorite route of the game! Noiz is the creep who drive by Rhymes Aoba in the common route. At first his blunt attitude rubbed me the wrong way, but the more I played, the more I began to like this socially awkward bunny!
