I'm a blerd who just so happens to love anime, manga, and games (especially Pokemon and Otome Games).

Fangirl Moment: Mushi-Shi

Mushi-shi¬†is a 10 volume manga series, released between 1999 and 2008. In 2005 the series was turned into a 26 episode anime series and a 20 episode second season was released in 2014, there are also two OVAs, a live action film (Joe Odigiri is awesome ūüėÄ ), and an anime film. In a world of fast paced action shounen series and overly fluffy shoujo romances, the episodic occult detective series, Mushi-shi, is an oddity.

I love Mushi-shi, in fact it is one of my favorite series, I can’t tell you how many times I’ve re-watched the series over the years…it’s just so calming. From the open chords of the OP to the ethereal instrumentals of the ending themes, Mushi-shi definitely puts you in the mood for something mystical.

The story takes place in an imaginary period between the Edo and Meiji periods of Japan and follows Ginko a Mushi-shi (Mushi master) as he travels Japan solving problems caused by¬†Mushi. It’s kind of hard to explain what mushi are, but for the most part mushi are primitive creatures more akin to fungi and bacteria. Usually, they co-exist with plants, animals, and human, without much problem, in fact they are imperceptible to humans, save for a few exceptions. Mushi are an integral part of nature, and¬†rarely interact with humans, but when they do people tend to get the short end of the stick. The stories all range from bittersweet to downright Disney, but please rest assured¬†that every person that comes into contact with mushi are changed in some way…usually for the better.

Ukyo Review

I usually don’t go for the childhood friend characters, but I really liked Shin’s character design. From the piercings to the jacket, everything about him seemed to scream bad boy, plus he’s a bit of a tsundere, which trumps everything. I actually really enjoyed Shin’s route, it had just enough mystery and suspense to keep me reading until the very end. I will admit that in hindsight the reveal was obvious, but at the time it took me a some time to figure it out. I had a really hard time getting the good ending in this route, first landing one of the bad endings which came right out of left field…I really did not see that coming at all, it was almost too random to be believable (especially when you haven’t played any other routes). Other than that the route was pretty good, everything lined up nicely plot-wise and Shin didn’t have a single out of character moment, all in all a solid route.

*Side Note: I will not have an MC/Heroine section in this review…I feel that there just isn’t enough about her to fill an entire section in this game. I was actually really disappointed by the MC in this game.

Last Week Today: Week End Recap- Feb. 28th to Mar. 5th

Spring Break started on Saturday and this year I am going to New York! So I won’t have access to my laptop so, I decided to write this week’s post in advanced…fingers crossed that this works!

I got a lot of love this week from you guys, especially from¬†Katrina¬†over at Grimmgirl.com, she wrote a really awesome Spotlight on me and my blog! I can’t thank her enough for the spotlight, it really made my day when I read it!

happy ouran

Speaking of happiness, the draft for my Big Graduation Research Project was accepted and edited *throws confetti*, so now we’ve moved on to the Discussion section and Literature review. So wish me luck with that! If the project wasn’t enough of a reminder that graduation is on the horizon, then this next piece of news definitely is… I picked up my Cap and Gown on Wednesday! Graduation is only two months away and I’m still not ready for it… My school colors are green and gold¬†which aren’t bad together, but when you add in my Salmon Pink hood, everything changes…

Fangirl Moment: Kanata Kara

Kanata Kara, also known as From Far Away by Kyoko Hikawa is a 14 volume shojo fantasy and one of my favorite manga series of all time! I can not tell you how many times I have reread this manga and I never get tired of it. Released between 1993 and 2003, From Far Away, follows ordinary high school student Noriko as she is propelled from her home in modern Japan to a strange magical world. Little does she know, her presence is the manifestation of an ancient prophecy that has the power to tip the balance in this new world. It has been foretold that the Awakening will arrive and awaken a monster known as the Sky Demon and bring destruction to the world. With mercenaries from every kingdom closing in, Noriko must rely on the handsome warrior Izark, for protection. But, there is a dark secret Izark is hiding, that no one not even Noriko can know about.  What will happen to the two unlikely companions? And could Noriko be the Awakening?

Okay, so I will admit that the story is the typical girl gets transported to another world romance, with all the shojo cliches imaginable. However what makes this title stand out is that Noriko, unlike most fantasy stories where the heroine automatically speaks the language (be it magic or coincidence), has to learn the language gradually. So for the first couple of volumes Noriko takes the time to learn an entire language, and while she does get better over the course of the series, she still makes mistakes (though they are few and far between in the later volumes). This was the first time that I had ever seen something like this in a manga, and I wish more titles did this!

My Lover is a Stern God: Star Crossed Myth-Zyglavis Review

So here I am again binge playing a game on the first day of its release, but Zyglavis was just too good to pass up! I was pleantly surprised by this route, it is awesome! In the beginning Zyglavis is like a mix of Scorpio and Eisuke Ichinomiya, what with the constant spew of insults and the three second response time limit…But the more I played the more I enjoyed the route. This was a rare treat, and I am more than happy to give up a little sleep for this route!

Despite his initial coldness, Zyglavis is secretly the most compassionate of all the gods. Plus he’s gorgeous, just look at him, that long flowing hair, those penetrating eyes…

PokeNews: Celebi Distribution

This event is expired, but feel free to read this post anyway! Also check the bottom of the post for information about future Pokemon 20 Legendary Distribution Events! Check back on the first of each month for information about the newest Pokemon 2016 Legendary Distribution Event Pokemon!

So here we are coming off of the Pokemon high that was February, with Pokemon 20 dishing out more goodies! Today, March is the second month of the Pokemon 20th Anniversary Legendary Pokemon Releases! This month’s legendary is none other than the Gen II Pokemon, Celebi!

celebi.gif

Non-Japanese second genners are still a little miffed about the unused GS Ball Event in the original Crystal version. I’m still a little sore about that to this day, but the remakes, Heart Gold and Soul Silver eventually kind of rectified¬†the situation. During the event trainers would have received a mysterious GS Ball, which upon placing it in the shrine in the Ilex Forest would trigger the appearance of the legendary Pokemon Celebi.

Celebi, the Time Travel Pokemon, is a Psychic Grass type Pokemon. It has been released several times before, most recently for Pokemon X and Y in 2014 during a Pokemon Bank Event. So if you missed your chance to get Celebi from one of the earlier events, now is your chance.

The Celebi Event will be a Nintendo WiFi Distribution and will take place between March 1st to 24th 2016. In order to obtain Celebi, players must have a 3DS or New 3DS, and Pokemon X, Y, Omega Ruby, or Alpha Sapphire.

If you want more info about the other Pokemon Events for 2016, check…..

Mini Review- Amnesia: Memories

So I finally got around to finishing my first route in Amnesia: Memories! Yay! *throws confetti*¬†As always, I’m a few months behind the rest of the otoge community, but I can live with that. I took my time playing this one, and I’m kinda glad I did…there was a lot going on with this game. Don’t get me wrong I enjoyed the game, it was fun, but there were some things that I had problems with.

So I decided to play Shin’s route first, because he happens to be on all the promotional art, and he looked cute. Usually I’d go for the megane hottie Kent first, but something told me that it would be in my best interest to play Shin’s route first…and I’ll have to let you know in a later post if that was the right decision.

Last Week Today: Week End Recap- Feb.21st to Feb.27th

Here we are again at the end of another week…I just started a Behavior Change Project for school, I decided to add more walking into my day, and I have managed to walk for at least 30 mins everyday this week! Yay me! I also managed to write absolutely nothing for my portion of the results section of my Big Graduation Research Project…motivation levels were especially low for this assignment…

I went to a party last night where I did some Backstreet Boys Karaoke…it was awesome, but I have to admit that I’m a tad bit tone deaf…But people were in to it nonetheless!

My Lover is an Abrasive God: Star Crossed Myth- Scorpio Review

So this was suggested by voltage-lover-headcanons over on Tumblr. Thanks for the suggestion. I wasn’t sure if I was going to do a review on Scorpio, but your message on Tumblr was so nice, I just couldn’t say no!

Scorpio is one of my favorite Voltage characters, I fell in love with this dark haired god almost from the beginning, his dark hair and cool expressions just set my poor fangirl heart aflame. As I have said before I have a type: cool aloof, tsunderes, and snarky ice queens, Scorpio is all of that and so much more.

Scorpio description

Scorpio is a foul mouthed god, with a penchant for punishment, which I will admit may be a little off putting at first. His jerk levels at times are on par with the likes of Keith from Be My Princess, but once he falls in love Scorpio becomes a passionate, if not a tad bit possessive lover. I absolutely love Scorpio as a character, he and Takuto Hirukawa from Love Letter from Thief X are shining examples of tsunderes done right!¬†It’s a shame that he always comes second to Eisuke Ichinomiya in every poll and tournament….

PokeNews: [Nintendo Pokemon Direct Announcement] Pokemon Moon and Pokemon Sun are a GO!

So I thought I’d document my thoughts before the Special 20th Anniversary Pokemon¬†Direct Announcement…I really dunno what to think, earlier this week sites leaked that Nintendo obtained copyrights to Pokemon Moon and Pokemon Sun, speculating that these are the titles of the 7th generation of Pokemon games. A new game would be awesome, I dunno what to expect but I know it’s gonna be big!

Feb 27th 1996 was the exact date that Pokemon Red and Blue were released exactly 20 years ago. And to commemorate that they had a really sweet and nostalgic video showing people playing pokemon in all of its iterations.

HOLY SHIT A NEW GAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

pokemon_sun_moon.0.0They Officially announced Pokemon Moon and Pokemon Sun for 3DS later this year! I am so excited right now I can’t contain it! They also announced the digital release of the original Red, Blue, and Yellow with access to the Pokemon Bank so we can finally trade pokemon from the original games to the newer games!

Are you guys excited about Pokemon20? What about Pokemon Go? Feel free to comment and share, and as always THANK YOU for reading!
