The Guy I Kinda Like is an Ice Cold Criminal: Astoria Fates Kiss- Hydra Season 1 Review

Initially I had some reservations when Voltage announced that they’d be revamping their Voltage USA line of games as AmeMix. In the past I had found their other English games, lackluster at best and not much to my taste. So, when Astoria Fates Kiss (formerly Labyrinths of Astoria) was released I didn’t pay it much mind. But, after a while curiosity got the better of me, and I soon found myself binge playing the game in one sitting. At the time Hydra was the only appealing character available.

I was hesitant, so I only bought his Main Story 1, but before I knew it I had purchased the second and third Main Stories as well…I really enjoyed his route, it had action, drama, and romance. I laughed, I cried (well maybe not cried per se, but I did tear up a bit), I even wanted to punch Hydra a few times…He is such a stubborn butthead. If I had to sum him up in two words it’d be: lone wolf. Hydra is a man with very strong convictions and morals, which put him at odds with the MC and some of the other characters in his route. He can be pushy and singleminded at times, which makes him a bit unsympathetic when others don’t agree with him.

Even Laptops Need Vacations

So as you can probably tell from the title, my laptop is out of commission for awhile….The poor dear has a bit of a fever, so it will be in the shop for an as of yet undetermined amount of time.


…which sucks because I was in the middle of writing two reviews, but it’s okay I’ll survive. I still have my IPad, but writing on that takes twice as long, so I only use it for emergencies and games….so, with that being said, I’ll use this opportuninity and the fact that I recently quit my job to catch up on my backlog of games!


So if I seem a little quiet, it’s because my laptop is taking a little R&R.

2016 marks 20 years of Pokemon…Twenty years, has it really been that long?! Twenty years later and I still love Pokemon. I don’t think I’ll ever not love Pokemon…So with that being said, nostalgia has struck again, as I have said before in an earlier post, Johto and the Gen 2 Pokemon games were my first introduction to the Pokemon world…Johto is where I fell in love with Pokemon, but it wasn’t until Gen 3 that I really began to get serious about it.

Prior to the release of Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire (ORAS), the third generation of Pokemon was generally panned upon it’s initial release. Some fans even credit Ruby and Sapphire for bringing about the beginning of Franchise Fatigue.

My Lover is a Deranged Rabbit: Alice in the Heart- Peter Review

Edit: On September 25, 2015 QuinRose’s parent company Artmove ceased distribution of ALL QuinRose games. As of right now the game is still available in the GooglePlay store, but has been removed from Apple’s App store! Despite this I hope you enjoy this review!

Alice in the Heart has not been received favorably by many fans. I’ve read several reviews and rants about its many shortcomings. Many have called the game half-assed, drawing attention the poor translation quality, hastily edited CGs, and lackluster writing. For me this is my first ever Quin Rose game (I’m a Quin Rose virgin 😉 ), so I may be a bit more forgiving of shortcomings in the game…I’m not going to go into a whole lot of detail about the gameplay as a whole, for that check out my earlier post about the game HERE, where I give my first thoughts about the game, the review covers the prologue.

So I decided that Peter would be the first guy I tried in the game… He’s the first guy you meet, so why not…Down the Hole croppedI have mixed feelings about Prime Minister Peter White…For one he’s a megane man, which may have influenced my decision to play him first, but Peter is the complete opposite of my type. He is madly in love with Alice from the jump, which at times can be a bit suffocating, his affection was a bit too pushy for me. I found that I liked cold, cruel Peter a bit more than I liked overly affectionate Peter…. While I did get Peter’s Best Ending on the first try, the translation made it a little hard to understand…so I had to play his route a second time for the sake of clarity.

Fangirl Moment: Miraculous Ladybug

I LOVE THIS SHOW! I found out about this show a few weeks ago on Tumblr, I will admit I was late as usual….But that is besides the point, what does matter is that I found it! Miraculous Ladybug (aka Miraculous, aka Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir) is a French CGI animated television series. Ladybug is an international collaboration between several well known animation companies from France, South Korea, and Japan (there are a couple of others too).

The series is set in Paris, France and follows the exploits, Marinette Dupain-Cheng, a normal junior high girl, and Adrien Agreste, her crush/classmate as they protect the city from supernatural villains. When evil strikes the pair become the crime fighting masked heroes, Ladybug and Cat Noir (Chat Noir), armed with their Miraculous charms. Despite their partnership, neither lead knows the other’s secret identity, which leads to a mixed up romance a la Sailor Moon. The show is episodic, with the big bad Hawk Moth creating a new villain of the week, so it doesn’t really matter which episode you start on.

Ladybug is what we need right now, a strong and confident female hero series that will appeal to both boys and girls (and adults 😛 ). The show is light and fun, and definitely worth a watch (and the Opening is catchy as heck)!
