Indie studio, Moirai Myths Inc., just dropped the Kickstarter campaign for their upcoming fantasy romance visual novel, The Good People (Na Daoine Maithe). The Good People is a lore-rich, choice-driven LGBTQIA visual novel inspired by Irish mythology and Celtic folklore.

The Story
Enter the strange and storied world of Tír na nÓg, home to the legendary Tuatha Dé Danann — the ancient gods and demigods of Ireland, now relegated to no more than fairies (aes sídhe) in the minds of men.
Though once a unified land, Tír na nÓg has been torn asunder by a brutal, 200-year-long war that split the kingdom into two dominions. To the south lies the haughty Seelie Court, who rule over the bountiful provinces of Spring and Summer in relative peace and stability… yet persisting as only a shadow of their former glory. Meanwhile, to the north, the proud and ferocious Unseelie Court lies in wait, licking their wounds and struggling to survive, but hungering to finish the revolution they began.
In the Seelie’s eyes, the Unseelie are nothing but power-hungry traitors dead set on achieving their goals no matter the cost, nor how great the bloodshed. The Unseelie, however, see the Seelie as the meagre remnants of an old, avaricious regime, rotting away from within and best snuffed out. While there may be order between the Courts for now, the climate is tense. One wrong move could mean war once again.
As such, when your identity is mistaken for an important member of the Seelie Court, you — a humble tenant farmer, unwittingly lured into the Otherworld — are not only forced into the middle of this centuries-old conflict, but are told to pick a side.

Key Features
- Diverse Main Cast: The full game will feature six routes from a cast consisting of two men, two women, and two non-binary folk. It is our hope that NDM will have a romance to offer everyone!
- Flexible Main Character (MC): The MC’s name and pronouns are determined by the player. The default options in the demo are she/her, he/him, and they/them, but the full game will allow users to input neo-pronouns or any/all pronouns. You can change your pronouns and your name at any time— Well, except for your true name. But you wouldn’t be foolish enough to give away your true name, would you?
- Love in All Forms: Love does not necessarily need to be romantic, thus neither are the routes. The full game will implement what we call the “Claddagh System”, which allows players to opt between affectionate, devoted, and friendly interactions with the LIs, respectively represented by the Heart, Crown, and Hands of the Irish Claddagh ring. By doing so, you get to define the nature of your relationship with the LI, and certain scenes will vary depending on how “romantic” or “platonic” your relationship is. This way, if you’re not especially interested in kissing one (or any) of our LIs, you can still enjoy their stories and get to know their characters!
- Multiple Endings: In each route, there is a good and a bad outcome based on the choices you make and the health of your relationships with the LIs, regardless of whether they’re romantic or platonic. Be careful, and pay attention to your partner’s needs: Sometimes conflicts cannot be meaningfully resolved with a kiss!
- English-Gaeilge Lexicon: Throughout our demo and full game, characters will occasionally use Gaeilge (Irish) words or phrases, highlighted in green. When selected, you will be taken to the Lexicon, which will provide you with translations and additional context, as necessary. In the full game, there will be voiced pronunciations provided by Nigel McKeon (@spicynigel), our in-house Gaeilgeoir.
- Voice Acting: In the full game, all of the LIs will have limited voice acting. This will entail environmental sound bites (sighs, laughs, catch-phrases, etc.) as well as the occasional fully-voiced line during important narrative moments. Note: Voice Acting will be expanded in a stretch goal.
- Additional Art: In the full game, each route will have fully illustrated CGs, additional sprites for select NPCs and animals/aes sídhe (fairies), and more painterly-style backgrounds (some selectively animated).
- Secrets & Shenanigans: Our programmer, Atropos, has teamed up with Robin to include a surprising amount of secrets, hidden both in the game and its source code. Good luck.

So, the Kickstarter campaign launched on January 1, 2023 and is set to run until January 31, 2023! The campaign goal is $23,953 to help with the production costs of the game!
