Someone Thinks I’m Pretty Neat – Real Neat Blog Award – Part I

Hey guys! I’m back with yet another blog award/tag post, this time around, I was nominated for the Real Neat Blog Award by Megan from A Geeky Gal! I love her blog, while a lot of blogs tend to have a very specific topic, A Geeky Girl covers a wide range of geeky topics, but with a personal flair you don’t see too often in many blogs. While I love all of her content, I especially love her Mental Health in the Geek Community series of posts. They’re a little bit of everything, from self help guides to personal anecdotes, each one is a unique journey that shouldn’t be missed. I want to thank Megan for nominating me for this award and I want to apologize for taking so long to write up my response (I’ve been sitting on this since December).

Questions

What is something you love about yourself?

Oh, way to start things off with a tough one… like most people I always find it hard to point out the positives about myself. Like during interviews when I’m asked to name my strengths and weaknesses, I have no problem talking about my flaws, but my strengths… I usually ask a friend for advice. But, I guess if I had to name one thing… I really love how passionate I get about my hobbies. I may bounce around from activity to activity, but when I start something new I always give it 100%.

If you had to be on a reality show, which one would you choose?

The Great British Bake Off… but, as a judge, because those bakes be lookin’ hella good!!! Man, what I wouldn’t give to sample those culinary masterpieces…

What do you hope to achieve by 50 years old?

Paid off my student loan debt… seriously at the rate I’m going I might actually make it to the moon first.

What is one thing you are proud of?

I’m gonna be really lame and say my blog. This started as an exercise in procrastination and snowballed into a truly amazing journey. I’m super proud of all the posts I write and I even go back and re-read some of my earlier ones just to see how far I’ve come…

Who are your real life heroes?

Ah, it depends but for now I’m gonna go with Michelle Obama. A strong, intelligent, and classy Black woman, who navigates life with a grace and poise I one day aspire to have.

What is one thing people don’t know about you?

I’m pretty open about most things, but I guess I never really shared that I fell off a balcony when I was a kid and walked away unharmed, save my bruised ego.

What is your favorite thing you own and why?

I have a stuffed Winnie the Pooh that I have had since I was 11 years old. I got it from my dad for Christmas and it’s one of the only stuffed animals I refused to part with. It’s so old I’ve had to replace the stitching in some places, but I still love him…
