Thrifty Gaming: Games That Won’t Blow Your Budget #31

Hey there Heroes, Travelers, and Wandering NPCs!! It’s Thrifty Thursday and that means another Thrifty Gaming post, the weekly post series where I spotlight three games/visual novels for gamers on a budget. Whatever your financial situation, I’m here to bring you affordable games that won’t break the bank!! All of the games on this list are $10 or less (does not include limited time offers and sale items), so no more weepy wallets!

This week’s post will include links to the games and a brief synopsis, but let me stress that these are not reviews, but recommendations… so your mileage may vary! Now that that’s out of the way lets get on to this week’s list!!

Vega-man (2019)- Broken Arms

Cost: Free

Web Browser

You have to shoot as many non vegan guys (or women) as you can with your apples within the given time (in order to convert them to veganism). New “weapons” will be available during the game, you can purchase them with the seeds left on the ground by each guys you’ve converted.

Synopsis

Vegaman is a cute and fun 8-bit shooter game where players shoot apples at non vegan characters to convert them to veganism. It was originally created for a 48h Game Jam with the theme “eating apples”. The game can be played directly on your browser and features fun 8-bit arcade like visuals and an upbeat soundtrack.

Lost in Secular Love

Lost in Secular Love (2016)- YETU Games

Cost: $9.99

Steam

A Otome game about romancing monks?! All the romanceable characters are monks?! Sweet yet seductive! The untainted body and soul that only you can touch… PS: The game is set in an alternate history with an alternate religion.

-Synopsis (Game Site)

Lost in Secular Love is a Chinese otome game, about romancing monks. There are three love interests, each with their own specific routes and since they are monks there’s the added hair toggling feature. Lost in Secular Love does have some mature content, and while it isn’t anything too risque, I recommend headphones… Some of the CGs are even partially animated.

Days of the Divine.png

Days of the Divine (2013)- Circle Pegasi

Cost: Free

Windows, Mac, Linux

Long ago, in a valley where a small village lay, two deities fought each other. One was imprisoned, the other vanished. Yet some time ago, an unnatural mist began lingering in the village, dissolving people’s memories.

Biyu, a young shrine maiden, is now working her hardest in the shrine of one of these deities in the faint hope the mist will one day dissolve. Even though her good friend also lost his memory, not all hope is lost; she meets a stranger who seems to be recovering from his memory loss, and rather quickly as well…

-Synopsis (Game Site)

Days of the Divine is a short fantasy romance visual novel that was originally developed for Nanoreno 2013. There are three male love interests to choose from, each with their own unique ending. There were also some nice animated effects, that really bring some of the story elements to life (ie. the mist). The game is pretty short clocking in between 2-3 hours of gameplay; 1 if you’re an especially fast reader.

  1. I like the look of Vega-Man, I do hope it doesnt turn me into a vegan though!
Nothing against it of course I just like trying other stuff as well 😛

  2. I just finished going through all of your 31 thrifty gaming posts and wanted to drop a word of thanks! It’s a really great endeavour 😘

Although I have played a pretty crazy number of VNs myself, I still managed to find 5-6 cute free VNs I’m tempted to check out 😊 BTW, do you accept suggestions regarding these topic or do you already have a long list?

    1. Wow! I am totally impressed by your efforts, I don’t think I’ve ever gone through all of these posts (more of a vague search to make sure I don’t use the same game twice lol). I’m really glad you like the series!

As gamer with a tight budget, I started this so I could help other folks like me that aren’t ballin’ outta control, but still want to enjoy their hobbies. Because, when it is a choice between food and a game… food wins 9.5 out of 10 times LOL

I am always open for suggestions! In fact I WELCOME them (please LOL) I used to plan these out, but my schedule got really hectic so I usually do a quick search during my lunch break. If you have suggestions definitely let me know! 🙂

Gush about cute otome boys~
