Last Week Today

Last Week Today: Week End Recap- Apr. 23rd to Apr. 29th

Hello Heroes and Travelers, here we are at the end of another week here on Nice Job Breaking It, Hero! Sorry I’m a bit late with this week’s recap, the OWLS Monthly Livestream was last night and when Kat, Lita, and I get together we always end up talking for hours (four hours this time, a new record). So, I opted to sleep in, on top of that Period Cube was released a few days ago and I have been swooning over a certain adorkable megane… *ahem* I’ve been otherwise engaged LOL

This has been a good year for otome games and I expect that there will be more releases in the coming weeks and months, so be warned I may go ghost during major game releases. I’m also working on a fun theme for May, so be on the look out throughout the month!

weekly blog recap

Since I skipped last week, I’m including all the posts I wrote for the past two weeks in this week’s recap post…

  1. Let’s Show Our Support for How to Fool a Liar King!– This time around, I’m spotlighting RoseVeRte’s upcoming fantasy romance visual novel, How to Fool a Liar King, the sequel to their 2015 visual novel, How to Take Off Your MaskThe game takes place after the ending of the first game and features a new heroine, with a few familiar faces from the first game.
  2. Ghosts of Miami- Demo Review– Ghosts of Miami is an upcoming mystery otome game from indie game developers Pillow Fight. The game follows an up and coming private investigator that specializes in finding missing individuals. Follow Chelo as she embarks on her very first case, interact with a colorful cast of characters and explore sunny Miami, all for the sake of closing the case!
  3. Thrifty Gaming: Games That Won’t Blow Your Budget #17– This is the post where I spotlight three visual novels for gamers on a budget. Every game featured is priced $10 or less, so definitely check out this week’s thrifty picks!!
  4. [NaNoRenO 2017] English Otome Game- The Crossroads– The first of many NaNoRenO game reviews! The Crossroads is a short slice-of-life supernatural romance that follows a young woman who finds herself the new caretaker of a stately mansion in the country. But, all is not what it seems, two of the staff members are hiding a rather surprising secret…
  5. Fangirl Moment: Harukaze no Étranger– For this week’s post I covered the sequel to Umibe no Étranger  (last week’s Fangirl Friday topic). Harukaze no Étranger is an ongoing BL silce-of-life manga about the romance between a gay aspiring novelist and a recently orphaned high school student. The series picks up where the previous title left off following the pair as they navigate the trials of being a couple.

So I mentioned that I had a super special awesome announcement, well here it is! I heard about this site through my work with OWL: Otaku Warriors for Liberty and Self-Respect and when our dear secretary mentioned that there might be a chance to write for them I jumped at the opportunity.

MANGA.TOKYO covers a wide range of topics related to Japan and Japanese media, so there’s something for everyone there!! I’m still getting stuff set up with them, so I don’t have anything up yet, but I’ll definitely keep you guys posted about that!! Yay!! I’m so excited and a bit nervous about this since, this’ll be my first time writing for an official site like this… but, I figure if I can write about what I love it’ll be fun!

Affiliate Links

The way affiliate programs work is that I earn a small commission on any products you all buy using my affiliate links.  Right now I’m enrolled in Affiliate Programs for, MangaGamer, and Play-Asia so expect affiliate links to show up every so often in my posts in the near future. I will let you all know in advance if a post contains any affiliate links and I will update my sidebar with links to specific games and products.

The 4th OWLS Blog Tour- Colors is under way! Each OWLS member will be uploading their individual posts throughout the month of March!

We are all part of one race, the human race. “Colors” refers to people of color in anime. For this monthly topic, we will be discussing how people of color or characters of different “races” (a literal alien race) are represented in anime. Some topics we are considering is the dangers of stereotyping, bi-racial characters, and the importance of racial inclusion.

This past week’s Blog Tour guides were Erendira (Sakura Daisuki), who wrote about Sailor Moon, crimson613 (My Fujoshi Life) who wrote a personal post about her experiences with color, and Steph (Two Happy Cats) who wrote about her experiences as a biracial person!

The April Blog Tour has come to a close, but starting May 1st we will begin our March “Strength” Blog Tour so be on the look out for announcements on the Official OWLS Twitter @OWLSbloggers, where we will keep you guys updated on each of the upcoming posts and other OWLS news!

I really want to hear from you guys, let me know what you think of Nice Job Breaking It, Hero. What do you think about this change? Do you guys like my posts? Is there something you think I should fix or add? Please feel free to let me know here in the comments section, or you can use this contact form!
