Last Week Today: Week End Recap- Mar. 19th to Mar. 25th

Hello Heroes and Travelers, here we are at the end of another week here on Nice Job Breaking It, Hero! I am so ready for March to be over, because this month sucked, I guess what doesn’t kill me makes me stronger… but, is it too much to ask for a week where everything just runs smoothly?
There were some positive things that happened this week… Like I finally figured out how to crochet granny squares (joining them is the hard part) and I got to hang out with a friend from school (she helped me fix up my resume and cover letter). So all in all, this wasn’t such a terrible week…

Poll Results for “What kinds of posts should I write more of?”

poll result 15

This poll ran way longer than I originally anticipated, but I’m glad that I was able to get a good number of votes this time around. There were a total of 89 votes, and I want to give a big thank you to everyone that took the time to participate!! So the results:

  • Seems you guys like the Otome/Visual Novel reviews and want me to continue writing those, there were 41 votes for that.
  • Next up were the Lists and BL/Yaoi Reviews, with 11 and 10 votes respectively. I was surprised to see that there weren’t many folks interested in the BL/Yaoi stuff…
  • The other poll options failed to break into the double digits, but I’m kind of sad to see that there was only 1 vote for Manga Reviews since I’ve been planning a Manga review segment, but I guess I’ll hold off on that for a little longer…
  • As always the Other suggestions never fail to make me chuckle a bit, this time around there were 3 of them:
    • mystic messenger!!!!!!
  • Unfortunately, I have no plans to return to Mystic Messenger Hell… I really enjoy getting a full 8+ hours of sleep every night… so yeah… HOWEVER, ShojoThoughts is currently documenting her MM journey over on her blog, which you can read, HERE! Trust me, they are all worth the read!

I’m giving the ol’ blog a bit of a facelift; updating tags, menus, etc… So, for the next couple of weeks expect some minor wonkiness. Nice Job Breaking It, Hero will be up and running during the fixes, but, don’t be alarmed if stuff moves around a bit!

Most Recent Updates

Since I reached 300 Followers a little while ago, I figured it was about time I fixed things up a bit. There will also be a special announcement once everything is finished up, so be on the look out for that in the near future!

March Megane Madness

I probably should have announced this sooner, but what can I say, I’ve been busy… *ahem* It’s no secret that I’m weak to megane men, there’s just something hot about a man in glasses that really gets my blood pumping! Ray Bans, dark frames, wire frames, bifocals, trifocals, fashion lenses, *fans self* I love them all! So I wanted to share that love with you guys in a month long megane celebration.

Throughout the month of March I will be paying tribute to all the megane hotties out there with semi-daily megane themed posts and reviews!! Ya’ll have heard of March Madness, well here on Nice Job Breaking It, Hero it will be Megane Madness Month!!

Affiliate Links

Well, I finally broke down and signed up for some Affiliate Program so that I could possibly make a bit of cash doing this blogging thing. The way affiliate programs work is that I earn a small commission on any products you all buy using my affiliate links.  Right now I’m enrolled in Affiliate Programs for and MangaGamer, so expect affiliate links to show up every so often in my posts in the near future. I will let you all know in advance if a post contains any affiliate links and I will update my sidebar with links to specific games and products.

The third OWLS Blog Tour is underway, March’s topic focuses on Sanctuary!

A sanctuary is a place of safety and stability. In anime, there are several different places and environments that characters call “home.” For this topic, we will be discussing various locations and settings within certain anime series.

Each OWLS member will be uploading their individual posts throughout the month of March! This week’s Blog Tour guides were LynLyn (Just Something About LynLyn), who wrote about the sanctuary in Princess Jellyfish, Venus (Japanime Talks)) who wrote about sanctuary in Hunter x Hunter, Erendira (Sakura Daisuki) who wrote about sanctuary in Yuri!!! on Iceand Hazelyn (Archi-Anime) who wrote about sanctuary in Fate/Stay Night!

This Week’s OWLS Blog Tour Stops

  1. Nick Burkhalter (Chasing Japan)-March 27th
  2. Katrina Sade (Grimm Girl)-March 29th
  3. Pink-chan (Pinky’s Palace)– March 31st

the week ahead

pretending to write

Last week I kind of dropped the ball a bit, so I’ll make it up to you guys this week with all the things I promised last week and some special unplanned stuff in between. I promise I won’t burn myself out… I just really want to write for once LOL… So, this week’s posts:

  • Melanin Monday- this week I will write about otome games with black and brown skinned characters in them!
  • Versatile Blogger Award– I was nominated for this award by the lovely ShojoThoughts a little while ago, and I figure it’s about time I actually wrote the post!

  • My Top 10 Favorite Generation Six Pokemon- Yeah, I know, it’s been a LONG time since I wrote one of these posts. I meant to write on each month leading up to the release of Pokemon Sun and Moon, but as you can see that didn’t really happen…
  • Mystery Blogger Award- This is not a fluke, I was nominated for a second Mystery Blogger Award by the amazing Moondid a few weeks ago, so I’ll be writing that post up this week as well!

  • Chess of Blades Demo Review- I know I have been horrible about writing up this demo review, but I want to commit to getting it done this week! The KS campaign is winding down and I want to make sure you guys see what an amazing game this is!!
  • Let’s Show Our Support for Love Mythos: Sanctuary Island- This is a visual novel and puzzle game from Squid Sins Squad with a little over a week left in the KS campaign!

  • Thrifty Gamer- This marks the 13th Thrifty Gamer post, and since thirteen is such a lucky number, I’m going to choose some especially lucky game titles.
  • Let’s Show Our Support for Who We Are Now- This is a queer post apocalyptic visual novel that launched a KS campaign last week!

  • Fangirl Moment: I’ll Give It My All Tomorrow- For this week’s Fangirl Friday post, I’ll be covering a slice of life comedy, manga by Shunju Aono!
  • Mystic Destinies Serendipty of Aeons-Tatsuya Yukimura MS Review- This has been a long time coming, and since this is the last day of March I figured this megane cutie should be the one to close out Megane Madness Month

  • Why I Love Ticket Based Free to Play Mobage- A lovely post about my love of free to play mobile games.
  • Let’s Show Our Support for AIdol: Artificial Intelligence Idol- I have been meaning to write up this KS campaign for a little while now…This is a cute idol themed visual novel from Pixel Pineberry Studios!

Since Megane Madness Month is winding down, I figure this would be a good opportunity to actually run a megane themed poll… Do you prefer characters… The poll will be open until… Friday @ 11:59 PM EST! You can find it in the side bar (or if you are using a phone/tablet @ the bottom of the page). If you still can’t find it, click the link HERE! I look forward to your responses!

Day Twenty: Ookami Kodomo No Ame to Yuki (MOTM 2017)This post comes from Kapodaco of Criticism and Thoughts! Like Lita, I absolutely love Yuu Watase’s works, so when I saw this post about Alice 19th, I knew I had to include it in this week’s Spotlight. This is a short post, but you can feel this bloggers love of Watase and her works in every word they write. Oh, and if you aren’t familiar with Watase and her works, Lita’s pick is a great place to start!

Blondes Have More Fun– This post comes from heyitszel of Archi-AnimeThis is another post series that I have been following closely for some time now, Hazel’s Man Crush Monday series! This week she showcases her favorite blonde anime characters. I happen to know for a fact that this blogger is partial to blondes, so I just knew I had to read this post, and you all should too!!

  1. My blog has a manga section, but I haven’t added to it in ages because readers seem to prefer movie/game reviews. Still if you want to cover manga go for it. Blogging is meant to be fun. Writing about popular topics you don’t have interest in can make the hobby a chore.

    • Yeah, I will, most definitely through the Fangirl Moments posts, but I’ll hold off on making a post series specifically for manga for a bit… since it’s going to be a lot of planning that I just don’t have time for rn.

I definitely agree about blogging being fun, I make it my mission to write about things I love so it never feels like work! Plus I’m usually out of the loop when it comes to popular stuff
