Earlier this week I hit 300 followers/subscribers here at Nice Job Breaking It, Hero!! I am still blown away by how much love and support you guys have given me over these past two year! You guys make all of this possible and I want to just THANK YOU ALL for being so awesome!! Oh, I also saw the comedy/horror film, Get Out the other day and I’m not gonna lie, that movie scared the crap out of me. That hypnotism business was a little too real for my taste!!

I’m giving the ol’ blog a bit of a facelift; updating tags, menus, etc… So, for the next week or so expect some minor wonkiness. Nice Job Breaking It, Hero will be up and running during the fixes, but, don’t be alarmed if stuff moves around a bit!

Since I reached 300 Followers a little while ago, I figured it was about time I fixed things up a bit. There will also be a special announcement once everything is finished up, so be on the look out for that in the near future!

March Megane Madness

I probably should have announced this sooner, but what can I say, I’ve been busy… *ahem* It’s no secret that I’m weak to megane men, there’s just something hot about a man in glasses that really gets my blood pumping! Ray Bans, dark frames, wire frames, bifocals, trifocals, fashion lenses, *fans self* I love them all! So I wanted to share that love with you guys in a month long megane celebration.

Throughout the month of March I will be paying tribute to all the megane hotties out there with semi-daily megane themed posts and reviews!! Ya’ll have heard of March Madness, well here on Nice Job Breaking It, Hero it will be Megane Madness Month!!

The second OWLS Blog Tour is underway, February’s topic focuses on Flight in Yuri on Ice!

An individual takes flight when there is a goal, a dream, or an ambition that he or she wants to achieve. However, for this blog post, we are going to look at “flight” in different lenses: the underdog’s dream, the possibilities that Yuri on Ice allows viewers to think about, and also the dangers of greed and ignorance that can influence one’s dream.

Each OWLS member will be uploading their individual posts throughout the month of February! This week’s Blog Tour guides were Myself, and my post about the relatability of underdog stories; Stephanie from Anime Girls NYC, who wrote about individuality in Yuri!!! on Ice; and Hazelyn from Archi-Anime, who wrote a character analysis of Viktor Nikiforov!

There is just one Blog Tour Stops left for the month so be on the look out for announcements on the Official OWLS Twitter @OWLSbloggers, where I will keep you guys updated on each of the upcoming posts and other OWLS news!

I really want to hear from you guys, let me know what you think of Nice Job Breaking It, Hero. What do you think about this change? Do you guys like my posts? Is there something you think I should fix or add? Please feel free to let me know here in the comments section, or you can use this contact form!

the week ahead

pretending to write

This week’s Melanin Monday post will be an overview of the positive depictions of Black characters in anime! Now, I originally planned for Melanin Monday to be a special Black History Month post series, but, after gauging interest on Twitter, I’m going to keep the series running. However, instead of making it a weekly series, Melanin Monday will be a bi-weekly series… so expect those posts every other Monday until, I get tired of doing them!

Thrifty Thursday will go up as scheduled with three brand new thrifty gaming picks for you all to try and for Fangirl Friday I’m going to cover a… I don’t know yet, let’s just see how this week goes shall we!

**It’s the final week of the OWLS Flight Blog Tour is underway, with a post from Takuto (Takuto’s Anime Cafe) coming out on Feb, 27th.**

Since I’m so behind, I’m just going to go ahead and extend the poll until the end of the month… What kinds of posts should I write more of? The poll will be open until February 28th at 11:59 PM UTC!  You can find it in the side bar (or if you are using a phone/tablet @ the bottom of the page). If you still can’t find it, click the link HERE! I look forward to your responses!

Here we are again at the end of another Recap Post, where I highlight four interesting posts from other bloggers that showed up on my Reader this past week…

Normalizing homosexuality: Doukyuusei vs. Yuri!!! on IceThis post comes from Incumbent Thinker of Thoughts That MoveYuri!!! on Ice has created an open dialogue about the depiction of LGBTQ+ relationships in Japanese media, but YOI isn’t the first of it’s kind to portray positive same-sex relationships. In this fantastic post, Incumbent Thinker talks about one of my favorite BL series, and how it normalized homosexual relationships long before YOI took over the community!

What women want: a shojo manga study? This post comes from Elisabeth O’Neill of Little Anime BlogThis post looks at how shojo romance trends help determine what female readers are looking for in romance. Elisabeth O’Neill looks at Midori Makita’s statistical take on shojo manga and how the themes depicted there relate to women that read them.

The Importance of Trashy Light Novels– This post comes from Kai of Deluscar! Light novels are a mixed bag, either you get compelling epics or “trashy”… You know the ones I’m talking about, the light novels that feature cliche characters and more fanservice than you can handle! But, instead of condemning trashy light novels, Kai makes a case for their importance in this outstanding post!

You Can Call These Lot Sappy, But Their Journey Has You FixatedThis post comes from Lita Kino of Lita Kino Anime CornerWhile Valentines Day may have come and gone this blogger is still feeling the love! In this post, Lita spotlights three of her favorite sappy anime lovers! Each of the couples on this list are sure to touch your heart with their love!

So here we are at the end of this week’s post! Be sure to check out some of the bloggers from this week’s Weekly Blogger Spotlight, and drop them a line! Strike up a conversation or make a new friend! Don’t be shy get out there and mingle! 😉 Also, don’t worry if your post wasn’t featured in this week’s recap, keep writing and keep posting! I’ll keep my eye out!
