TGIF! Here we are again with another Fangirl Friday! I went a little overboard reading Haikyuu DJs last week and this week, so I figured why not share my new obsession with you guys? Generally I’m not much of a shipper, but I will admit that I’m partial to the Eren x Levi pairing from Attack on Titan and the Kageyama x Hinata pairing from Haikyuu. But, I’ll save the angsty AoT stuff for another day… *ahem* I think KageHina is the cutest thing there ever was!! So, this week I’m gonna cover one of my favorite KageHina DJs…. *drumroll* Kokoro Control!!
While some folks credit doujinshi (DJs) as the medium that sparked their love of Boys Love/Yaoi, my journey was quite the opposite. I only discovered the wonderful world of DJs after I’d already fallen hopelessly into BL hell, so this is still relatively new territory for me. Ah, yeah, so for those of you that have no idea what a DJ is, or if you need a refresher, I’ve included the wiki definition below:
Dōjinshi is the Japanese term for self-published works, usually magazines, manga or novels. Dōjinshi are often the work of amateurs, though some professional artists participate as a way to publish material outside the regular industry.
It’s no secret that I absolutely, positively love the sports anime Haikyuu, I mean I’ve written two Fangirl Moment posts about the series, and as of right now, two collaboration Top 3 favorite moments posts…. So, I was bound to find my way over to the DJ side of things eventually, after all it combines two things that I love, Haikyuu and BL… So, when Hazel sent me five or six DJs while I was sitting at work last week, I expected to fangirl a bit and move on to other things. Unfortunately that was not the case and I spent the entire week reading an rereading several DJ titles, including my new favorite, Kokoro Control!
Kageyama can no longer focus around Hinata because of his unspoken feelings, and his volleyball suffers for it–so Hinata agrees to do absolutely anything to help get Kageyama back on his game…
Kageyama is struggling to contain his growing feelings of love for his energetic teammate Hinata, but when the fear of losing the very thing he wants most takes hold, Kageyama decides to suppress his feelings. Of course, this proves to be impossible and Kageyama and Hinata develop an after school ritual (à la Mysterious Girlfriend X) so that Kageyama can free himself from his desires.
The story is cute, if not a smidge predictable, but I didn’t start reading it for its deep plot, I read it because I wanted to fangirl over some cute romantic tension between the Karasuno Dynamic Duo!! This is a short and sweet DJ, with just enough bittersweet fluff to make any fangirl squee in delight!

These djs melt me heart. Kagehinas a rekatively pure ship, depending how deep in tumblr you go.
Usotsuki canon is my absolute fave tho, but ive read this one like 10x easily. Its never enough!!!!
YES!! I needed some KageHina fluff after you destroyed our ship 😛 LOL Yeah for the most part, your right, but I have seen the dark side of Tumblr and I’m not gonna lie, I rather enjoyed my time there!!

I first discovered the world of DJ’s through the Gravitation fandom with the remix and megamix stuff by the author!!! Which i know this is rare but she has stated she wrote them because she could not push things as far as she wanted in the running manga
Oh man, I loved the remixes and megamixes!! They were so much more graphic than the original series! It’s good that she was able to finally see the story written the way she wanted it, even if she had to publish them as DJs.
I’m very much looking forward to that angsty AoT post because I’m very partial to Eren x Levi myself and the potential for pain there is stunning. A lot of my ships are like that for some reason though I’m not a hardcore shipper except with rare cases like Eren/Levi.
Unfortunately, I have yet to watch Haikyuu.
LOLOL I’m going to have to look up some really good ones for you then! XD Oh my yes!! Eren xLevi is my favorite and I love how angsty the stories can get….
You must watch Haikyuu, it’s a really great series and the funny thing is that there’s not much ship fuel in the show…which is funny given all of the fanfics and DJs out there LOL
To be fair, there’s not much fuel for ErenxLevi either in the anime (manga tho…). But shippers gonna ship! I do want to watch more sports anime and Haikyuu is definitely on that list.
none what so ever, lol shipping is funny that way… if two characters so much as look at each other, it’s grounds for a ship 😛
