Hello all you wonderful Heroes and Travelers, it’s Thrifty Thursday and that means another Thrifty Gaming, the weekly post series where I spotlight three otome games/visual novels for gamers on a budget. Whatever your financial situation, I’m here to bring you affordable games that won’t break the bank!! All of the games on this list are $10 or less (does not include limited time offers and sale items), so no more weepy wallets!
This week’s post will include links to the games and a brief synopsis, but let me stress that these are not reviews, but recommendations… so your mileage may vary! Now that that’s out of the way lets get on to this week’s list!!
Seduce Me the Otome (2015)- Michaela Laws
“It seemed like the start of something new. Something that would change.”
You are a senior in high school along with your two best friends, Naomi Patterson and Suzu Cappini. You are also the granddaughter of Harold Anderson, the CEO and founder of Anderson Toys, a toy company sworn to give children amazing products and give a large part of their profit to charity.
One day, you get called home to attend your grandfather’s funeral. After the funeral, you learn that you have inherited his large estate. Your father suggests you move in immediately, so the next day, you move out of your parents home and into your estate.
When you enter your new home, however, you see five injured, yet very handsome men on the lobby floor. They eventually awaken and make it known that they were attacked by a group of dangerous ‘misfits’ and ran to find shelter, passing out as soon as they entered your home.
You find out that they are incubi, ‘demons who consume and use sexual energy of humans to survive’. With nowhere to go and a target on their backs, they ponder what what to do. Out of sympathy, you offer your home as refuge for a while in exchange for minor servitude (it is a big house, after all). They happily agree.
What will happen as the incubi get comfy? Why exactly did they come the human world? Who are the ‘misfits’, and will they stop pursuing them so the incubi can leave?
…Will you WANT them to leave?
Seduce Me the Otome is a GxB supernatural romance Original English Language Visual Novel (OELVN). The game features five main male potential love interests and four additional extra romanceable characters (three female, one male) with a total of 22 unique endings. Seduce Me features some implied sexual situations, which the player can choose to play through or skip, without effecting the progression of the story. Hatoful Boyfriend (2014)- Devolver Digital
Cost: $9.99 USD
Welcome to St. PigeoNation’s Institute, the most splendid and greatest academy of the pigeon, by the pigeon and for the pigeon.
At first, you felt anxious entering a classroom filled with pigeons’ eyes peering up at you, but as you enter your second year of high school, you’re getting used to your school life and enjoying the peaceful days… right?
Soon, you start to feel emotions you’ve never experienced before… Emotions that could even be called… love? The unexpected softness of a pigeon’s rhinophyma…
This is a heartwarming love story.
Hatoful Boyfriend is a commercial GxB(ird) port of a Japanese fantasy romance visual novel. Unlike traditional otome games that feature a diverse cast of male (or female) love interests, the romanceable characters in Hatoful Boyfriend are birds. There is a stats raising aspect of the game that is integral to which of the various characters you are able to pursue! Hatoful Boyfriend also features a branching plotline, with various Good and Bad Endings for each of the pursuable birdies.
Samurai Love Ballad Party (2015)- Voltage Inc.
In the war-torn Sengoku Era…
To save your brother’s life, you go to serve at the castle.
But…who would await you there but the samurai who would stop at nothing to rule Japan…!
Though both of you know death is waiting…
“I swear to protect you…on my sword, and on my very life itself…”
His hidden charms pull you into a desperate love of warring hearts!
Meet twelve brave samurai with their own passionate desires…
The love stories that will turn the tides of history…all start with you!
Samurai Love Ballad Party is a ticket based free to play GxB historical romance mobile otome game. There are a total of 12 love interests each with their own unique storylines. Each route is 13 chapters long with two endings (Love and Fate Endings). Like most mobile apps, players are limited in how far they can progress in the game due to the daily ticket limit.
