So I’ve Kinda Been Nominated for the Unique Blogger Award!

As usual I am super late with this award post… I blame My Horse Prince… *claps hands* So it seems that I’ve been nominated for a Unique Blogger Award by two super fantastic bloggers, Kapodaco of Criticisms and Thoughts and Remyfool of The Lily Garden!!!

unique-blogger-award

So some background on these fabulous bloggers…. Kapodaco is an aspiring critic that runs one of the most honest blogs I’ve ever seen!! You can always count on him to give you a thorough assessment of whatever he reviews, be they critically acclaimed anime series or indie games, he holds everything he views to the same standard. He tends to be a harsher critic than most, but when he does write a positive review, you can be sure that the praise is well deserved!

Remy is the authority on all things yuri, if it exists, you can be sure to find a post about it at the Lily Garden! He is one of my favorite bloggers on wordpress and my self appointed kouhai 😛 He is a joy to chat with, no matter what we talk about I always have a good time! Again, thanks to both of you guys for nominating me, it really means alot to know that both of you thought I was worthy of the nomination!!😀

The Rules:

  • Share the link of the blogger who has shown love to you by nominating you.
  • Answer the questions.
  • In the spirit of sharing love and solidarity with our blogging family, nominate 8-13 people for the same award.
  • Ask them three questions.

Remy’s Question

1. Have you ever liked an unpopular character (in anime, film, novels, etc)? Which character earned your affection despite the masses’ low opinion of the character in question? Did you ever try to defend said character?

Ah… I’m seriously drawing a blank with this one, the only character that I can think about is Ryoki Tachibana from the shojo manga Hot Gimmick. He is an abusive prick, that terrorizes the protagonist, Hatsumi Narita, he even makes her his slave… But, he genuinely loves her and when she gets into trouble he, in his own messed up way, helps her out. I don’t in any way condone his actions throughout the series, but I don’t know… I just can’t bring myself to hate him at all… Did I ever defend him? No, he’s an abusive prick…

2. Does the ends justify the means?

Dude, you’re killing me with these thought provoking questions! LOL Hmmm, a large part of me wants to say yes, but I know better than that… So I will answer your question with even more questions: Will the outcome benefit other people? Are those people/things that benefit from the outcome in the majority? Minority? Will people get hurt? Is this a last resort? Are there other options?

3. Say you are eating a bento that happens to have some of the things that you like. Do you save your favorite dishes for last or do you eat them first?

Save them for last! Always! Jeeze Remy, this was the easiest question out of the three! 😛

Kapodaco’s Questions

1. How often in a single day do you dedicate exercising your body (any amount counts, such as walking, stretching, etc.)?

Ha, does walking to the fridge count? Seriously though, not much time really. But, there is a rather large hill leading up to my office and the trek up it every day is evil!

2. Do you prefer anime on rainy days or manga on sunny days?

Ah, this is a tough question… I love rainy days in general, but I’m more likely to read a manga than I am to watch an anime series. Can I switch them around a bit, maybe manga on rainy days? However, if I can’t I suppose anime on rainy days, since there usually isn’t much to do on those days in the first place.

3. What is your earliest memory?

Ummm, er… *puffs cheeks out* Well… *bites lip* Oh! I got it! My earliest memory would have to be me playing with my TV Teddy while watching the Berenstain Bears in the living room of our apartment. I guess I was maybe 4 or 5… And for those of you that don’t know, TV Teddy was an interactive stuffed bear that would talked and made commentary on VHS tapes of popular kid’s TV shows…  Anyway, there I was sitting on the floor in front of the TV singing along with the theme song of the show, when out pops my mom with the camera taking pictures! Sorry that’s all I have, I don’t really remember much from my childhood… especially memories before the age of five…

i choose you

My Nominations…

My Questions…

  1. What movie has left the biggest impression on you? (It can be any movie, anime related or otherwise)
  2. What is one thing about the anime community that you don’t like?
  3. If you could relive one day of your life over again what day would it be? (Don’t try to be funny and just respond with a date or a day of the week… 😛 )

  1. Congratulations! And thanks for the nomination!! There’s a long list now of people that have nominated me! T_T I need to work on responses QUICK!! >_< thank you again! Love your blog and love our twitter chats/fangirl moments!! 😀

    1. It was my pleasure😊

You’re right lol we are all playing catch up at some point or another lol! I should change by blog’s tagine to ‘Sorry I’m working on it’

  2. Congratulations and thanks so much for the award! I loved the Berenstein Bears too, but I don’t remember TV Teddy. He really comments on VHS shows? That sounds pretty amazing! What a childhood memory to have! 🙂

    1. Thank you Panda, and it was my pleasure!! Seemed like the best welcome back present!!

Oh he was all the rage in the 90s… I guess toy companies figured kids were watching more TV, so they created a toy we could play with while watching tv… win win lol

Yup he sure did, like when we watched the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, he’d comment on their fights and there were questions at the end… like what lesson did papa bear learn and stuff like that…

  3. Hot Gimmick: you want to hate it — you should hate it — but you can’t look away. And, quite frankly, it is award-winning level compared to her other works, especially Teacher’s Pet.

    Anyway, congrats!

    1. That’s exactly how it is with that manga! I just knew you’d understand lol

I dropped Teacher’s Pet so fast! I just couldn’t do it to myself! Hot Gimmick was one thing, but that was my limit…

      Awww thank you!!😊

  4. Congratulations on the award! You deserved the nomination!

    Aw, phooey, you’re one of my favorite bloggers, too, s e n p a i

Oh, I didn’t meant to ask such difficult questions, whoops! I think your approach to my second question was very solid c:

Who was your favorite Berenstain Bear? I think I read one of their books as a child and one particular page was pretty cool, but my memories are very fuzzy. I also can’t really remember what distinguished a bear from another so I can’t even answer my own question, haha…

    1. Aww thank you Remy!!😊 Ahhh I’ve finally reached Senpai status!! Woooot! *crosses number 12 off the bucket list* But, I will try to be the best senpai there is!!

Lol the old answer a question with a question approach… a trade secret for when you have no idea how to answer a question 😉

Hmmm Papa Bear and the wild bear dude!! Papa, cus he was always getting into trouble and the wild bear guy, because he was just so cool!

Ooooh back home when I was little they used to give the books out with kids meals at Chick-fil-A so I had a few!! You must be psychic, cus I was definitely going to ask you the same question lol

      1. You’re very welcome! Woo, you’re achieving life goals here! Haha, you can just be the usual pokeninja90. Yer already a good senpai!
It’s an ingenious out when you feel trapped, I’ll admit! Boom, you’re safe from interviews LOL (maybe not)
I wish I could remember their individual traits but I’ll take your word for it. Papa Bear and the Wild Bear Dude sound pretty awesome, though!
Chick-fil-a was cashing in on that children’s storybook trend huh? I did notice a lot of the books mentioned God in the title when I googled the books in an attempt to see if I could find the book with the really cool page…
This is a total tangent, but Chick-fil-a’s nuggets are amazing! Too bad they’re so much more expensive than that of McD’s…
Haha, keep the fact that I’m an esper on the down-low, please~ just kidding!

      2. WOOOHOOO!! I’m glad about that!

LOL, even I had a hard time coming up with those two 😛 Yeah Chick-fil-A was all about getting children to read, they always gave out free books. Yeah the Berenstain Bears were super religious and moral driven!

OMG YES!! I love Chick-fil-A nuggets!! They are the best nuggets I have ever had!

Okay, I’ll keep your abilities on the hush hush 😉

      3. Yuuup just calling it like I see it, senpai!
Haha, well, your hard work definitely shows! An excellent deflection if I do say so myself~
The secret ploy to get our generation educated and well-read, I see. I can dig it. Mmm that’s something that stands out among other children’s stories, I suppose!
Right?? Gaaah now I want to eat some, but they’re closed on Sundays. That means I have to be patient and wait. Being patient suuucks.
        You are most kind. I would be turned into an ermine if my secret powers were revealed to the public! ;__;

      4. Awww Remy, you’re a sweetheart!😊😊

That’s good though, kids now a days need to read more books in general!!!

OMG yes! I always crave chick-fil-a on Sundays lol I even considered getting some on Saturday night and saving it for Sunday 😂

      5. Aw, shucks. You’re one to talk!
Yeah, that’s true! Some kids already have smart phones when their hands can barely hold the dang thing, they’re so small. More books are needed!
Hahaha right?? I’m glad I’m not alone c:

      6. Oh my gosh yes!!! I still have the whole series!! Exactly, this gen needs a book series to capture their hearts the way HP did ours!

lol I’m still waiting on my Hogwarts letter!😆

      7. Yesss it stays with you forever! It’ll be a tough act to follow, but it’ll be great if a book series came out which could hold young readers’ hearts captive like HP did!
        I-it’ll come!

  5. Congratulations! And thanks for thinking of me. Appreciate it. 🙂
I can’t even remember my earliest memory! This is so exhausting lol.
I’m quite low on exercise too! And yes, in my opinion, walking to the fridge does count, so long as you don’t eat anything. 😛
I would also save the best for the last in my bento.
    Great post. Thanks again. 🙂

    1. Thank you, and it was my pleasure!!😊

Lol I had a hard time pulling that one out of the old noggin… my childhood is all a blur…

Yes, refrigerator walks count!! Woot I’m not alone in the low exercise department!!

I’m glad you liked the post and I look forward to your answers!😉

  6. Aww, congratulations poke-sempai!~~~ After all, you deserve it! Such hard-work, such dedication, such beauty – you melt my cold and almost dead heart.
And also, the more awards/nomination the merrier, amirite? Anyways, you’re one of the most amazing people I’ve ever met, I hope to see more of you in the future and, what else can I say?
Happy holidays and Happy New Year, I love you and your blog and wish you the best!<3

  7. Congratulations! You are a unique blogger and this award is well deserved! I also wholeheartedly agree with the nomination of Mr. Panda who is a wonderful blogger, too (and the only one I know of your nominations, the rest of which I’m certain feature amazing bloggers!). I’m not nearly as up and up on anime as you, so I know who my resident expert is hehe. I’m not totally bereft of knowledge, but it’s been a while since college when I was in anime club, and my list of ones to watch just keeps growing! I’m so happy I found you in the blogosphere 🙂

    1. Awww Thank you!!! Oh man, I love Mr. Panda, he is one of the best!!

I’ll do my best to live up to your anime expectations lol. OMG yes, my must watch list gets longer by the day 😉

Awww I’m glad to have met you too!! You are always a joy to chat with and I absolutely love your blog!! 😀

      1. He’s SUCH a sweetheart!

One of my planned goals for 2017 is to catch up on the massive amount of anime I need to watch. One of my other blogger friends is doing a review of all of Studio Ghibli movies, and I need to get on board of that train. I’ve only seen Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke, and Grave of the Fireflies (that I know of).

        *blushes and runs away*

      2. Oh my gosh yes! I love the Ghibli films!!! Is it the well read mage? I know they’re doing a ghibli review series right now and I absolutely love it!!

Love love all three, but Grave of the Fireflies makes me cry every time I see it

      3. It is! He’s doing a review of all of the movies. I now have a goal of watching them all myself in 2017 since I’ve only seen three of them. I’ve only seen Grave once, and that’s enough for me. There are just some movies I will never subject myself to again, not because they’re bad, but because they’re just too heartbreaking.

      4. I love those reviews!! Oh my gosh yes! Grave of the Fireflies had me bawling my eyes out! Between that and Barefoot Gen… I just can’t they were just too sad!

But the other films are a must watch, especially Howl’s Moving Castle and Whispers of the Heart!

Gush about cute otome boys~
