30 Day Anime Challenge- Day 28: Favorite quote from an anime character

I’m really riding the highs and the lows with this challenge… Some choices for this challenge were ridiculously hard, while others were a walk in the park! This choice was one of the latter, I knew what I would write about for this post since Day 11. I just didn’t know how I wanted to write about it…So, for today’s post I decided to mimic an earlier set of posts I did for the 3-Day Quote Challenge.

Again, no intro/teaser for today’s post, I’m just gonna dive right in… So my pick for my favorite quote from an anime character is…

“Go beyond the impossible and kick reason to the curb!”

Say what you will about Gurren Lagann, but no one can deny that the show had some interesting motivational quotes and speeches. So, as you can imagine, I had a hard time picking just one quote to use for this post. We all know the iconic Kamina-isms:

“Don’t believe in yourself. Believe in me! Believe in the Kamina who believes in you!” and who could forget the undeniably moving, “Your drill is the drill that will pierce the Heavens!” 

But those quotes while equally motivational and beautiful, lack a certain grace that the Beyond the Impossible quote conveys perfectly… Okay, who am I kidding, I picked the quote because it is hilarious, and it manages to sum up the whole premise of Gurren Lagann! A show that quite literally goes beyond the impossible, by kicking both reason and logic to the curb. This show constantly breaks the fourth wall on reality…if that makes any sense. Gurren Lagann is a show that presents us with a whole host of impossible sci-fi fantasy things, but unlike most fantasy series, these impossible things are grounded by some real world principles.

But,  Gurren Lagann takes those rules and throws them out the window! This show is the embodiment of this quote because not only does it break the rules of reality, but it also breaks it’s own rules! The characters of Gurren Lagann constantly break rules of their own reality, be it cheating death or creating technology that literally messes with the fabric of space and time. I can’t tell you how many times a character in the show made something possible through sheer force of will… and I don’t mean adrenaline induced strength, no, I mean a character using a power that is impossible to obtain or a character reviving themselves long enough to avenge their own death…yeah logic…who needs it?

This is my favorite quote because it proves that impossible is what you make it! Something is only impossible if you make it impossible, so always fight the good fight!
