I don’t know what it is, maybe it’s because this is the final stretch of the challenge, but these posts are getting much easier to write! When I saw this prompt I immediately knew what I wanted to write about… It’s day 22 of the challenge and today’s topic is anime weapons. When we typically think of anime weapons we think of big guns and even bigger swords…
Well I went in a completely different direction, and picked a rather unconventional anime weapon. So my pick for my favorite anime weapon/gear is…
Haruko’s left-handed Rickenbacker bass guitar model 4001 from the anime series, Fooly Cooly (FLCL). This is one of the most versatile anime weapons I’ve seen in a long time, and it’s not even a real weapon.
This thing is like the Swiss Army Knife of anime weapons! Throughout the series Haruko uses it a club, a surf board, a bat, a machine gun, a rocket launcher, and oddly enough as a musical instrument! Yeah after she’s done recklessly swinging it around she actually sits down and plays it like a normal bass. And you know what, it holds up pretty well for something that is constantly being smashed into things… In the show its primarily use is to transport items across space by way of N.O. channels which are created when she wacks individuals with N.O. abilities, like Naota.
This is by far one of the coolest weapons ever, I mean come on, it’s a bass guitar that can create portals across dimensions! On top of that it’s virtually indestructible, showing almost no wear and tear, even after causing some considerable damage throughout the series.

What a choice! FLCL is so over the top that I don’t think I can top that. I’m a fan of the 3D maneuver gear from Attack on Titan though. It would be fun to use though probably not safe at all. It makes for some money shots, especially during the first opening. The cinematography makes their use of the gear seem like a Universal Studios ride. It’s so intense!
Oh man that would be so cool to just swing around like that… But knowing me I’d probably swing into a building or something lol

I’d really struggle to choose one. From Bleach I’d choose Hitsugaya’s sword, from Soul Eater I’d go with Tsubaki as well. Hmm, random weapon would probably be Rena’s hatchet thing from Higurashi. Not because the weapon is so awesome but the image of her holding it is certainly memorable.

The only thing that would’ve made Haruko’s weapon of choice better was if it was a keytar. That would’ve been an instant win for me.
