We all have them, that one character that we just can’t stand! The character that pisses you off ever single time they show up on screen. Maybe they are the antagonist that always seems to get in the way of the hero, maybe they’re one the protagonist’s allies, or maybe they’re the protagonist of the series. Whoever they are, you can be sure that just seeing them is enough to get your blood boiling…
This was actually a pretty easy prompt to write for… I’m starting to sense a pattern with this Challenge, the posts about things I dislike are much easier to write than the posts about things I like…
This is yet another list, when I started writing this post I realized that I disliked these characters equally. So rather than picking one over the other, I decided to share them all!
Number 3: Sae Kashiwagi from Peach Girl
Sae is the main antagonist of the 2005 anime series, Peach Girl and one of the worst characters I have had the displeasure of watching in an anime. Sae is the embodiment of everything that I hated about middle school and to a lesser extent high school… catty, conniving, two faced girls! Ugh, her main purpose in life was to make Momo’s life as miserable as humanly possible. She’s the kind of girl that uses her looks to get what she wants, be it a cute purse or someone else’s man… Nothing stands in the way of this girl when she sets her sights on something…
Number 2: Sasuke Uchiha from Naruto
This one is kind of funny really, but I’ve never liked Sasuke… he was just too perfect. I know how weird that sounds, seeing as I chose his brother Itachi as the subject of my Favorite Male Supporting Anime Character post, but hear me out first. Naruto is the main character of the series, I mean come on his name is the frickin title… So tell me why is it that we spend so much time on Sasuke? So much of Naruto is about Sasuke it’s a wonder Kishimoto didn’t just change the title of the series to Sasuke!
Number 1: Orihime Inoue from Bleach
Ah, Orihime… where do I begin with Orihime? Like Sasuke, I disliked this girl from the beginning! She was just so annoying…and useless. I wouldn’t have had a problem with her if she had a real power like Rukia, but no…nooooooooo… they had to give her the power of protection! Really? Protection… it’s because she’s a girl right? To make matters worse she’s a potential love interest for the protagonist, Ichigo. I’m sure she’s probably gotten better over the course of the story, but at this point her rep with me is beyond repair…

Hah, I see Sasuke as such a generic rival type nowadays, but I had no point of reference when I started out and had him as my favorite character. Nowadays, I am pretty neutral on all Naruto characters.
The character that gets on my nerves the most is Hajime Ichinose from Gatchaman Crowds. She’s the extremely hyperactive and optimistic type, someone who reminds me of people I used to hang out with. I identify a lot with the secondary protagonist of the show, someone much more serious, and I couldn’t help but feel empathy for the amount of annoyance Hajime put him through. In the end it all worked out, but I can’t help but feel that scenario would end up very differently in real life.
Sasuke has always been… too perfect for my taste.
I’ve never seen Gatchaman Crowds *adds to anime watch list*
The themes in the anime are really good, like, Really good! I just… almost dropped because of that one character.

Oh dear God Orihime is literally just a walking rod of boobs. That’s it! I wish Rukia x Ichigo would happen (not bc of her boobs) but precisely for the reason that these two went through so much together and seeing them as a couple feels right.

Yeah…and there was a video about people talking about the series coming to a close and one guy was like if ichigo ends up w/ someone it should be Orihime cuz BOOBS and she’s more “feminine” like DUDE
smh, of course someone said that… well, if he ends up with Orihime, I will never pick up that series again…lol

I agree, what ever happened to just making a character despicable? If I want to feel sympathy for a character, let me come to that decision on my own… Plus, not every character needs to have their actions justified…
I agree. Just keep Sae as a frenemy like how she was in the end of Peach Girl. She didn’t need a backstory to make us feel sorry for her.

Ugh, Sasuke annoys me too, and I’m glad he became evil at the end of the first series, just so he could finally have less screen time. He got more arcs during Shippuden but I was never cheering for it. Orihime is just okay, but I find her irritating as well.
Neither are more irritating than my choice, Misa Amane from Death Note. She single-handedly derailed the awesomeness that was happening in the first 12 episodes. She was an annoying character, who got on my nerves because she was willingly Light’s slave. Seriously, why would you do that? Light is cool and evil, yes, but why would Misa give everything up for him? Her character only got worse in the second arc, in which she was both dumb and useless. Siiiigh, Death Note would be so much better without her character.
Lol Orihime def DOES NOT GET BETTER lol. Trust me I’ve sat through every episode. Rukia is my girl but Orihime. Get out. Ichigo either needs to end up with Rukia or be forever alone lol.

Haha yes you can! And yess it is. Sometimes I would have to take breaks from Bleach to mentally prepare myself for her craziness. She was also my pick for character that annoys me. All though tbh Sakura will always be number one. Although Sauske’s angsty attitude super gets on my nerves to lol. I’m like, “You don’t deserve a friend like Naruto you little toad!” But then again Naruto wouldn’t be Naruto without him so I grudgingly forgive him.
Sakura completely slipped my mind when I was writing this. I guess it was so bad that I blocked her out completely!

Nice choices. I haven’t seen Peach Girls but I have seen Naruto and Bleach. I can see why people would not like Sasuke. The creator did try to focus on both Naruto and Sasuke. Sasuke can be quite stubborn on his quest for revenge. For Orihime, I don’t really hate her but I see what you mean. Personally, I see Rukia as a better match for Ichigo than her.

What bugged me about Sasuke the most was his undeserved attention from the get-go. Almost all of the girls liked him (even though he looks like a tool), and he spends his time moping. Then again, I’m not a big fan of the show as a whole…
Orihime is amazing. I love that girl. She serves her two main purposes well, sex appeal and comedy (the latter of which I like her more for, TBH).

Tsuruya, from The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya (though I kinda like her in the Chan series)

Sylphiel, from The Slayers

Peach Girl is a solid series, worth a watch if you like shoujo series like Hot Gimmick. Lots of drama lol.
I agree with you on the whole Sasuke thing, at one point I was wondering why they didn’t just rename the series “Sasuke” instead of Naruto with all the screen time he was getting. I was more of a Rukia fan…
Chibi Moon was definitely plenty annoying, so annoying that I completely blocked her out of my memory XD I’ll also give you Sylphiel too… she was in the way.
