My Top 10 Favorite Generation Two Pokemon

So Johto is where I started my Pokemon Journey, so this is the generation nearest and dearest to my heart. This is where my love of Pokemon began, and this was probably the hardest list to write for me. So, since today is the day of my graduation, I thought it only fitting to put out this list today! Kind of a Throwback Thursday post!

Generation two introduced us a brand new region to discover and 100 new Pokemon love. It was originally planned as the ending of the Pokemon series…Anyone who has battled Red on top of Mt. Silver, knows just how epic that ending would have been… Each of these amazing Pokemon has a special place in heart!

hitmontop

Number Ten: Hitmontop

So I really don’t know why I like this guy, I just do! Maybe it’s that tough guy look on his face, or maybe it’s because it’s upside down. I just remember really liking this Pokemon as a kid… I don’t even really like Fighting type Pokemon that much.

scizor

Number Nine: Scizor

This Pokemon just screams badass, Syther 2.0 is a beast. This is a really cool Pokemon design, I remember being really impressed by its new Steel typing too. Scizor changed my opinion about Bug type pokemon, they are way cooler than I gave them credit for.

misdreavus

Number Eight: Misdreavus

I guess I have a thing for trickster Ghost Pokemon, but Misdreavus definitely takes the cake. This Pokemon likes cause mayhem just so it can laugh at their shocked reactions. Plus, its Pain Split signature move is nothing to laugh at… But, as a kid the main reason I really liked this Pokemon was because it was purple. Purple happens to be my favorite color.

ariados

Number Seven: Ariados

I will preface this by saying, I am absolutely terrified of spider. They scare ever loving crap out of me…So why is Ariados on this list? I really liked the design, it just looked really cool. Plus at the time I was going through a phase where I thought more exposure to spiders would cure my fear…It did not, in fact it may have made it worse…But, regardless I really do like Ariados!

umbreon

Number Six: Umbreon

This is by far my favorite Eeveelution! This Pokemon looks awesome, and at the time it wasn’t a bad Pokemon to have on your team. Dark types always look really cool. Umbreon, just looks so mysterious and have you seen the shiny version?! The black and blue coloring of its shiny version only enhances the breathtaking elegance of this Pokemon.

lugia

Number Five: Lugia

Pokemon 2000, is my favorite of the Pokemon movies, and this Pokemon is the reason for it… I they even got Dan Green to voice him in the dub! That aside, there was just something way cooler about Lugia that Ho-oh just doesn’t have… Lugia just looks sleeker, more refined than Ho-oh. Plus it has control over the ocean and the three Legendary Birds too!

furret

Number Four: Furret

This Pokemon is so much more than your average HM slave! I would never subject this cutie to such a lowly position on my team. When I was a kid, Furret was my surprise sweeper, I would teach it Blizzard, Thunder, Shadow Ball, and Flamethrower, it was a one Pokemon fighting machine. Plus it’s so soft and cute looking, I just wanna snuggle it.

houndoom

Number Three: Houndoom

Dark and Fire, my two favorite Pokemon types all in one place, what’s not to love?! Houndom looks like something that clawed its way out of the depths of hell…or at the very least something out of a Supernatural fanfic… It’s such a pity that this guy isn’t a very competitive Pokemon. It looks like it should be a great Pokemon, but it kind of sucks.

ampharos

Number Two: Ampharos

Sure this guy looks a little derpy, at the very least I will admit that, but this Pokemon is one of my favorites. This Pokemon keep and entire lighthouse lit, saving hundreds if not thousands of lives out at sea. It is also capable of learning of learning the elemental punches, and it doesn’t even have hands! It even managed to get a Mega-Evolution, which only makes this Pokemon more of a badass!

typhlosion

Number One: Typhlosion

Typhlosion is by far my favorite Pokemon of all time, I love this guy to bits and pieces! Cyndaquil was my first ever Pokemon, having that tiny cute fire mouse evolve into this fiery badger/bear thing is awesome! To this day, I name all of my Typhlosions “Tracy” in honor of the very first one! I always make sure I have at least one Typhlosion in every game I own!

So that’s my list, were there any Pokemon you though should have been on the list that weren’t? Something on the list that you think shouldn’t be? Do you have any suggestions for posts? Any burning questions? Want me to review a specific game or character? Feel free to Comment on this post or Ask Me on my tumblr! As always Thank You for reading!

  1. You started with gen2, eh? I always forget not everyone started with the original 151. Did you have Crtstal? And I agree with Scizzor, Hitmontop and Amphoros fo’ shizzle. I would swap Typhlosion for Meganium though…. 😉

    1. Yeah, it’s funny everyone I know started with gen1…I used to pretend that I started in gen1 too, but I embrace it now…lol.

Yes, i started with crystal version and no substitutions on Typhlosion lol

      1. I remember Crystal being the first game where the pokemon had movement animations when you sent them out. Blew my gods damned mind. I hope you’ll be doing a top 10 for all generations. I very much look forward to them!

      2. As a kid it was so awesome! Now look at where we are, 3D battles and whatnot!

I plan on doing all the generations, so be sure to keep an eye out for the rest of the posts
