TGIF! Here we are again with another Fangirl Friday! So I have a confession to make, I had a really hard time coming up with a topic for this week’s Fangirl Moment post. There was so much going on with school that I almost cancelled this week’s post altogether…but then it came to me…K-drama…I could write about another K-drama. So here we are covering another one of my favorite K-dramas: Lie to Me!
The show follows a civil servant, Gong Ah-jung (played by Yoon Eun-hye), who works in the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. One day at the hairdresser’s she runs into her high school frenemy, who brags about her perfect life and husband. Not wanting to be shown up, Ah-jung lies and says that she too is happily married to an amazingly handsome and rich man. But the little white lie takes on a life of its own, spreading beyond Ah-jung and her friends to the world of elite businessmen. Soon everyone seems to think that Ah-jung is the wife of a prominent young hotel owner, Hyun Ki-joon (played by the dreamy Kang Ji-hwan).
Hyun Ki-joon (I just love the way his name sounds), determined to get to the bottom of the rumors, finds Ah-jung and forces her to tell the truth. But, when the time comes for her to fess up, she makes things even worse much to the disgust of Hyun Ki-joon. He threatens to sue her for her indiscretion, but our hapless protagonist is saved from trouble by a series of events that force the pair to carry on the charade. Both agree that the pretend marriage will be equally beneficial, at least for the time being…But what kind of K-drama would this be without a little drama? Enter Hyun Ki-joon’s beautiful Ex-fiance and younger brother! Can a little white lie lead to true love?
I love this drama! It was one of the first K-dramas I ever watched and I still find myself going back to it from time to time. In typical rom-com fashion, the plot is over the top and the character antics are ridiculous, but I can’t help but love every minute of it! Kang Ji-hwan is wonderful as the prim and proper Hyun Ki-joon (or as I like to call him Hunky-joon), and Yoon Eun-hye, was definitely in her element as the bumbling civil servant Ah-jung!
Now this drama did give a bit of second lead syndrome…The younger brother, Hyun Sang-hee (played by Sung Joon) was so adorable! He gave me life! He was so fun loving and sweet that I couldn’t help but smile every time he appeared in a scene. But, alas he was no match for the dashing Hyun Ki-joon…Overall, the story is nice, with just enough drama and romance to keep you satisfied until the last episode…I highly recommend this series, it was truly a delight from start to finish!
Like Personal Preference, this drama had it’s own memorable kiss scene: the Cola Kiss! No words…just watch it!
Nine: Nine Time Travels, for one that I watched post-airing. As for currently airing, Signal. Those two just sucked me right in, and I held on for the ride. 🙂
Thanks for the suggestions! And thank you for reading!
I really like the adaptation of Hana Kimi, To the Beautiful You. But then I’m a sucker of any Hana Kimi adaptations out there haha
Though the first Korean thing I watched was probably the movie 1000 Pounds of Beauty, which I really enjoyed (´∀`)
I absolutely loved that movie! But I think it’s 200 pound beauty.
Ooh, I didn’t remember because to me pounds are weird. I never know, just like when I discovered 12 inch cocks in fiction were 30cm and got so WTF, because that’s the size of an arm (҂⌣̀_⌣́)
The movie is lovely, and she did a great job on the role ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°
Yes she did a friend showed it to me when I first started college and I remember the two of us tearing up towards the end!
Oh don’t sweat it the metric system gives me a hard time too…lol and international time differences
Your friend has good taste! The music was great too, loved her singing. She’s way too talented ಥ⌣ಥ
We should just make the metric systems the official universal one, since it’s used more. Even Japan uses it (^_−)☆
Oh yeah she even got me into Lovely Complex too! And she’s part of the reason I’m so into Yaoi now! Lol
The funny thing is that metric is universal, America just likes to be difficult lol
A+++++ friend then! Lovely Complex is adorable. Another adorable shojo is Strobe Edge. Seriously, very 3D characters, plus Ninako develops through the series (●´∀`●)
America is indeed difficult, there’s way more people and countries using metric, but they still act as if it’s us that are crazy with the metric system xDD
Unfortunately it’s the Murican way…shakes head…
LC is one of my favorites! And I really liked strobe edge too! Shojo romances are my weakness!
Shojo has to be well done or I don’t get interested much. Have you read W Juliet? Really recommend it too (͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
The strobe edge mangaka has very interesting mangas, definitely check out her other stuff ^^
Not yet but I will definitely give it a look!
Freaking second lead syndrome. Every freaking drama I get it. Every damn time. Btw loving your new site layout. Anyways, I really like how you’re covering a wide variety of topics. I might check this out since you loved it. All I can say from the synopsis is that DON”T TRY IT lol cuz only kdrama heroines can get a man from this situation.
Lol second lead syndrome hurts so bad! Second leads need love too!
Oh believe me I know, if I did what they do in dramas I’d have been arrested long ago…but if it’s Lee Min Ho…he’s worth the jail time lol
Aww thank you so much, I just needed a change lol so updated the theme. Fangirls Fridays are for me to fangirl about random fandom stuff that I like without limitation. So I’m really glad you like them!
Lee Min Ho is God’s gift to women.
And yep. I just recently got SLS really bad on You From Another Star. What sucks is that both love interests are likeable and the canon is really interesting BUT I adore the second guy….
And I do!! The design is more clean and less cluttered (no offense) it works well. And I LOVE Fangirl Fridays!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
None taken at all lol, never had time to fix the old girl to my liking and then one day I decided to reorganize the whole thing lol…
Lee Min Ho is a dream! I’d go to South Korea just for him (oops my fangirl is showing)
You From Another Star is on my must watch list! But I wanted to wait until it wrapped up so I could watch in one sitting (I hate having to wait for new episodes)
Lol really glad ppl like Fangirl Fridays
Lol let’s go there now and meet him! XD
I thikn the drama is finished but I could be wrong. I postponed it cuz it’s been dragging on lol
*opens drama fever account for the first time in months* Yup it’s finished!
Aw yeah! Ugh now I have to remember what ep I was on lol
*opens drama fever account for the first time in months* Yup it’s finished!
And God yes!
So when do we go? 😉
Lol after I find a job!
Same lolol
Oh, and for me, Secret Garden, Okitegami Kyouko no Biboryoku and Hana Yori Dango (Japanese one) had me addicted from the start. I need to try more kdramas but they’re sooooo long.
Thanks for the suggestions, now that school is done I have way more time to watch stuff and play games…
Aw np:) Same to you, girl! I now have more mobile games and dramas to choose from. Like really, thanks. I had no idea what kdramas to watch and what otoges were worth the money.
Oh most definitely! I’m still fixing my best mobile otoge post…so that should be out sooner or later….
WHOOOO
OMG I LOVED THIS!!! I remember back in high school I went to my friend’s house for a sleepover. I ended up watching episodes instead of doing stuff with her… haha. Wow reading this gave me good memories. :’)
YES!! This is one of my favorite rom-coms!! And that Cola Kiss!! kyaaaa
What other dramas do you like?
Oh man, I’ve watched so many dramas, but mainly Japanese. For Korean, I loved You’re Beautiful, My Girlfriend is a Gumiho, Boys Over Flowers, Money’s Warfare, 38 Task Force, Scarlet Heart Ryeo, Single Cunning Lady, Shut Up Flower Boy Band and more but these are my favourite. XD I’ve also watched many Taiwanese and Mainland Chinese dramas.
