Toma Review

I can’t tell you how happy I am to be done with this game! It has been a long road to this point, and let me tell you, playing every route in a game is definitely a full time commitment. I have seen good, bad, and just plain ugly in this game, just to get to this point. So after watching Ukyo kill the MC with absolutely no warning what so ever in just about every bad ending of the game, I was a little curious about how his route would play out. I guess I was expecting some big character revelation or something, perhaps even a little explanation for his actions throughout the game…And you know what I got? Exactly that, this route is what is considered to be the canon route. Everything is explained, and I mean everything, the events of the other routes, Ukyo’s random bad endings, even Orion.

So, I landed every single bad ending this route had to offer (and there are SEVEN of them) before I could land even the normal ending. This route is not for the faint of heart, you really have to work to earn your happy ending!

*Side Note: I will not have an MC/Heroine section in this review…I feel that there just isn’t enough about her to fill an entire section in this game. I was actually really disappointed by the MC in this game.

So I know I’m late with this, but better late than never! For a limited time only, trainers with the Pokemon Bank downloaded on their Nintendo 3DS system can now get Regirock, Regice, and Registeel through Pokemon Link!

The Legendary Golems, aka the Regi Trio, were first introduced in the original Gameboy Advanced games Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald and are obtainable in game.

In the Hoenn Generation III games and the remakes, the player must first unlock the tombs which hold the three titans by solving the puzzle in the Sealed Chamber. Only after doing this will they then be obtainable. Regirock is found in the Desert Ruins on Route 111. To encounter Regirock, the player must walk two steps to the right, two steps down and then use Strength or walk two steps to the left, then two steps down and use Rock Smash. Regice is found in the Island Cave on Route 105, and to encounter it, the player must wait two minutes in front of the sign or walk a counterclockwise lap around the walls of the cave. Registeel is found in the Ancient Tomb on Route 120, and it is necessary to go to the middle of the room and use Fly or Flash to open its cave.

But as you can see…it’s a rather complicated process. So if you want to avoid all of that and you have the Pokemon Bank, you can get all three are the three at lv 50! Each Pokemon will come fully loaded with the following movesets:

Toma…Toma, Toma, Toma…sigh…Toma…I know I said this before, but I really have mixed feelings about childhood friend routes. Some are amazingly sweet, especially when executed well, while others…not so much. I don’t really like childhood friend stories at the best of times and from what I’d seen of Toma in Shin’s route, let’s just say that I was not overly thrilled to play his route. I didn’t need to get the end of Shin’s route to suspect that beneath his big brother act was a seriously twisted and messed up individual. The first indication that this route was different from the previous three was the addition of the Doubt indicator on the Parameters screen. The second indication was the fact that his Suspicion indicator is maxed out from the beginning. None of the other guys started at 100% Suspiscion, not even Shin, and he was accused of pushing the MC off a cliff. And even then I had to work for it! So then, I began wondering: What makes Toma so special? Why is his route so different? Well I’m afraid the answer is simple…he’s batshit crazy psycho insane in love with the MC.

*Side Note: I will not have an MC/Heroine section in this review…I feel that there just isn’t enough about her to fill an entire section in this game. I was actually really disappointed by the MC in this game.

Last Week Today: Week End Recap- Mar. 20th to Mar. 26th

Here we are at the end of another week…My Behavior Change Project is officially over!

I am no longer required to walk every morning, nor do I have to record my weight and steps! I am free to laze about as I always have…Okay so maybe I’m exaggerating a bit, the project wasn’t that bad. And maybe, just maybe walking every morning was the tiniest bit enjoyable. Shhhh, don’t tell my professor that though…

In other news…It seems like all of my resume pushing last week paid off! I had a phone interview for one of the jobs I’d applied for this week. I think it went pretty well, but we’ll see how that turns out. Fingers crossed! Uhhh…I saw Zootopia this past week and I absolutely loved it! It was a great movie, I highly suggest you guys go and see it if you can!

So my younger brother started his own gaming website, Ice Gauntlet, he and some of his associates have banded together to bring you up to date gaming news, reviews, and features! The site is great, and you guys should definitely take a look if you have the time and let them know I sent ya. I might post something over there about otome games in the near future, so keep and eye out for that!

Fangirl Moment: Stereophonic

*Art & comic belong to C.J.P all images are used with permission from the author*

TGIF! Here we are again with another Fangirl Friday! This week I’m shifting gears a little, instead of another anime or manga post, we’re going to cover another webcomic! The comic I’m covering this week is Stereophonic, a period piece, slice-of-life BL webcomic by C.J.P.

stereophonic banner.png

Click title to read comic

Stereophonic is a queer slice-of-life comic that follows the lives of two young men living in 1960s London. Elliot is a shy, struggling artist adjusting to life alone in the big city. Alex is a charming, modish singer in search of a fresh start. Drawn together by a mutual need for housing, the two become unlikely cohabitants and must learn to navigate the trials of life, love, and self-expression amidst an era of tumultuous social change.

Stereophonic About

When I originally stumbled upon this title I was suffering from a mean bout of withdrawal from another BL series that I was reading…So I did a quick search of “BL webcomics” on google, just so I could find something new to fill the void. I found a website that had compiled a list of the Best 2015 BL Webcomics, after browsing some of the titles I was definitely  finding some good back up titles, but nothing really jumped out at me. That is until I reached the second entry of the “S” titles, the image depicted two blushing men on the cusp of a big damn kiss…I had to know what was going on, so I clicked the link to the webcomic’s website…and the rest was history.

So my Spring Break was not wasted…I finished Kent’s route…and let me tell you, I am so glad I didn’t play him first…he would have spoiled the rest of the game for me. I love, love, LOVED Kent! He is by far the best route of the game so far, I was so surprised by how much I liked this adorkable math whiz! There wasn’t really a “mystery” in this route…instead a good deal of the focus is put on the relationship between Kent and the MC, this is probably why I liked it so much. There was no over the top drama or conflict, which was refreshing given the plots in some of the other routes. I got the Normal Ending on the first try, as I did with the other routes in this game and then I got the Good Ending…and then I stopped…I couldn’t bare to get any of the Bad Endings…but then I came to my senses and for the sake of you guys and this review I went back and played for them… *mutters darkly* The things I do for reviews… Aside from that bit of torture, Kent’s route was amazing from start to finish!

*Side Note: I will not have an MC/Heroine section in this review…I feel that there just isn’t enough about her to fill an entire section in this game. I was actually really disappointed by the MC in this game.

Last Week Today: Week End Recap- Mar. 13th to Mar. 19th

Here we are again the end of another week…Since graduation is looming, ever present on the horizon so hiring season is upon us at last! I have filled out so many applications, cover letters, and resumes in the past few day that I feel like I’m a job application champ! But, to be honest the whole process is tedious and draining. I wish I could just show up at the place I want to work and say, “HIRE ME! I CAN READ AND WRITE…HIRE ME!…please?”

This is what my resume looks like right now…

Job hunting aside, my Big Graduation Project is coming up on the final stretch and we are writing the Discussion section! For those who don’t know this is where we talk about the results and offer an explanation about how they may have come about. We also give details about the strengths and limitations of our study and suggestions for future studies. Trust me it’s loads better than the statistics portion of this project, that was the most frustratingly tedious part of this project! My Behavior Change Project will be over on Wednesday, and I couldn’t be more pleased, one less thing to worry about!

Let’s Show our Support for Kenka Bancho Otome!!!

So fellow otoge blogger, Leafy just brought it to my attention that Spike Chunsoft might be willing to localize the game Kenka Bancho for us western otoge players if there is enough interest in it! After the debauchery that was the Beastmaster and Prince Kickstarter, it would be nice to see a game localized for a western audience! So let’s do this let’s mobilize while the iron is hot, before all this momentum and buzz dies down! Let Spike Chunsoft know that there is a market for otoge in the west, by letting them know on Twitter and (if you don’t have twitter) Facebook!

Kenka Bancho Otome is an otoge adaptation of the popular beat ’em up game series of the same name! An otoge with fists?! Sounds like my type of game!

For as long as she’s been aware, the heroine, without a single relative, lived under care of the state. Both of her parents’ faces were unknown to her. In front of this heroine, a young boy appeared. The young boy’s name was “Hikaru”. It appeared that he was the heroine’s twin brother, separated at birth. He had a proposal for the heroine.

“Could you go to school in my place?”

The heroine was shocked by this crazy suggestion. Furthermore this was an all-boys school. The only high school in this prefecture for delinquents. Hikaru was part of the most ancient and honorable family in the criminal underworld (yakuza), the Onigashima family. Under his father’s strict teachings, the school that he was to attend had been decided. And that school was Shishiku Academy. A high school where all the terrible and wild delinquents were gathered. Enrolled in this school, a child of the Onigashima family was obligated to occupy and control this school. Hikaru did not want to have anything to do with delinquents. But to defy his father meant death. Hikaru, who learnt about his twin sister who was separated from him at birth, was struck with the idea to send her in his place to this school of delinquents.

Let’s make this happen! Let’s do what we do best: Share this post! Spread the word! Send them tweets and hit them up on Facebook! Take to Tumblr and pass this along! Let your voices be heard! We are here and we want more otoge localized for western audiences! Here’s a post with the tweet that started it all!

we are here.jpg

Now, game companies are listening! Let’s let them know what we want!

Fangirl Moment: Red Garden

Red Garden is a 22 episode anime, released between 2006 and 2007, later in 2007 a 45 minute OVA epilogue was released. The series follows four high school girls from New York as they find themselves caught up in a string of supernatural murders happening throughout the city.

What I really like about the show is how random everything seems in the beginning. At first you think you’ve stumbled into a high school slice of life drama, as we see each of the four girls waking up after what seems to be have been a rough night. We follow each girl as she prepares to attend their elite private school located on Roosevelt Island. You really get a glimpse at how different these girls are from one another,  each coming from a different walk of life. Kate is an affluent teen and revered member of Grace, a student council like organization at their school. Rachel, while she is the typical queen bee type, fashionable and popular, lives in a single parent home with a neglectful mother. Claire is the independent one in the group, she lives alone in a crappy apartment in the city. Then there’s Rose the youngest of the group, not only does she have to take care of her younger siblings while her mother is sick, she also has to maintain the full scholarship that allows her to attend the prestigious private school.

Of all the routes available in this game, Ikki’s is probably the one that I was least looking forward to. I really don’t like the flirty, playboy types at all, I go out of my way to avoid them when I can. It was actually due to a mistake that I clicked Ikki’s route in the first place, I mixed up his route and Toma’s…not that I was looking forward to Toma’s route any more so than Ikki’s. He’s the typical playboy, good looking and always surrounded by women, but for some reason he’s dating a normal (mute) girl like the MC. So, the route itself, I want to say that despite my reservations his route managed to surprise me, but I’d be lying. While I didn’t outright hate Ikki’s route, I didn’t really enjoy it either, he’s just not my type.

As I did with Shin’s route, I did not get the Good Ending on the first try, I got one of the Bad endings, but weirdly enough I liked Ikki way more in that ending than I had in the entire game.

*Side Note: I will not have an MC/Heroine section in this review…I feel that there just isn’t enough about her to fill an entire section in this game. I was actually really disappointed by the MC in this game.

Last Week Today: Week End Recap- Mar. 6th to Mar. 12th

So, Spring Break has officially come to an end and I only managed to get through half of the things I had planned…I got a little bad news this week, but I’m not letting that get me down too much…Life is like that sometimes, one day you’re up the next day you’re down, so I won’t let it get me down too much! 😀

no motivation.jpg

I am slowly working through my backlog one route at a time, I have no intention of burning myself out though, school is still in session and I have a lot of school work to finish before graduation in May. I have two more weeks left in my Behavior Change Project, I want to be optimistic and say that I’ll keep up with the walking after the project is over…but I know myself a little too well for that…

In other news I bought a brand new phone, since my old one decided that now was the time pass on…No more dropped calls and no more missed messages for me! And finally some decent pictures!

*Ahem* So, serious time for a moment:

I want to take a little time to thank you guys for reading my blog and commenting! I can’t tell you guys how great it makes me feel when people read and respond to my awkwardly random reviews and ramblings! I got over 100 views three times this week and it made me so happy! Thank you guys!!!

To Be the MC or Not To Be the MC: How Do You Otome?

Before reading this post, it’s important to answer one simple question: What exactly is an otome game?  Generally speaking, otome games (shortened to otoge) are “story based video games that are targeted towards a female audience” (wiki). Typically, the plots of these games focus on fostering a romantic relationship between a female protagonist and one of several male (and in some cases female) love interests. While romance is the main draw for players, otoges have been known to cover a diverse range of subjects and topics. In the past, otoges were only marketed towards Japanese women, but in recent years their popularity has extended to the Western market.  This new, growth has led to a rise in English-language otome games and an increase in the number of localized Japanese otoges. However, the market for otoges in the West is considerably smaller than that of the Japanese market.

So this past week I saw that Vogue had written an article about otome games…At first I was excited, this is just what we need, I thought, more exposure means more games…and what better way to get that exposure, than to have an article in an internationally syndicated medium, like Vogue. So like many of you, I retweeted and reblogged the article, but then I read it again and I noticed something I didn’t realize the first time. First, they assume all otoge players are women and two they generalize players…On the first count, Vogue is primarily targeted at women…so I guess I can let that slide, but the second point isn’t so easily dismissed. The article made it seem like women/girls who play otome games do so in order to escape the reality of not having a real boyfriend….

The Strict Megane Teacher Who Stole My Heart: After School Affair- Shinichi Kagari Review

Available: Google Play | App Store | Amazon App Store

So after an unbearable amount of waiting and pinning, Voltage finally decided to release Shinichi Kagari’s route for After School Affairs…Okay, I know I’m exaggerating, but damnit he should have been the first released route to begin with! If you follow me on Twitter or Tumblr you’ll know I was none to pleased with the decision to release Shinichi after Rikiya…but it was totally worth the wait! I couldn’t have been more pleased with this strict megane math teacher, he was more than I could have hoped for and the MC *sigh* I couldn’t be more proud of her! After playing Amnesia I can’t tell you how happy I am to have an MC that talks…and to actually have a personality to boot, I could cry!

Shinichi is strict and meticulous when it comes to his job, expecting nothing less than perfection from his students and coworkers. He starts off with a huge stick up his butt, quick to criticize even the slightest mistake. But, he only pushes people he sees potential in, so I guess it’s coming from a good place… On the other hand his home life is a mess..he reminds me of Tsugumu Kido from Our Two Bedroom Story in that respect. He is definitely not as strict with his home as he is with his school affairs.

Fangirl Moment: Mushi-Shi

Mushi-shi is a 10 volume manga series, released between 1999 and 2008. In 2005 the series was turned into a 26 episode anime series and a 20 episode second season was released in 2014, there are also two OVAs, a live action film (Joe Odigiri is awesome 😀 ), and an anime film. In a world of fast paced action shounen series and overly fluffy shoujo romances, the episodic occult detective series, Mushi-shi, is an oddity.

I love Mushi-shi, in fact it is one of my favorite series, I can’t tell you how many times I’ve re-watched the series over the years…it’s just so calming. From the open chords of the OP to the ethereal instrumentals of the ending themes, Mushi-shi definitely puts you in the mood for something mystical.

The story takes place in an imaginary period between the Edo and Meiji periods of Japan and follows Ginko a Mushi-shi (Mushi master) as he travels Japan solving problems caused by Mushi. It’s kind of hard to explain what mushi are, but for the most part mushi are primitive creatures more akin to fungi and bacteria. Usually, they co-exist with plants, animals, and human, without much problem, in fact they are imperceptible to humans, save for a few exceptions. Mushi are an integral part of nature, and rarely interact with humans, but when they do people tend to get the short end of the stick. The stories all range from bittersweet to downright Disney, but please rest assured that every person that comes into contact with mushi are changed in some way…usually for the better.

I usually don’t go for the childhood friend characters, but I really liked Shin’s character design. From the piercings to the jacket, everything about him seemed to scream bad boy, plus he’s a bit of a tsundere, which trumps everything. I actually really enjoyed Shin’s route, it had just enough mystery and suspense to keep me reading until the very end. I will admit that in hindsight the reveal was obvious, but at the time it took me a some time to figure it out. I had a really hard time getting the good ending in this route, first landing one of the bad endings which came right out of left field…I really did not see that coming at all, it was almost too random to be believable (especially when you haven’t played any other routes). Other than that the route was pretty good, everything lined up nicely plot-wise and Shin didn’t have a single out of character moment, all in all a solid route.

*Side Note: I will not have an MC/Heroine section in this review…I feel that there just isn’t enough about her to fill an entire section in this game. I was actually really disappointed by the MC in this game.

Spring Break started on Saturday and this year I am going to New York! So I won’t have access to my laptop so, I decided to write this week’s post in advanced…fingers crossed that this works!

I got a lot of love this week from you guys, especially from Katrina over at, she wrote a really awesome Spotlight on me and my blog! I can’t thank her enough for the spotlight, it really made my day when I read it!

Speaking of happiness, the draft for my Big Graduation Research Project was accepted and edited *throws confetti*, so now we’ve moved on to the Discussion section and Literature review. So wish me luck with that! If the project wasn’t enough of a reminder that graduation is on the horizon, then this next piece of news definitely is… I picked up my Cap and Gown on Wednesday! Graduation is only two months away and I’m still not ready for it… My school colors are green and gold which aren’t bad together, but when you add in my Salmon Pink hood, everything changes…

Fangirl Moment: Kanata Kara

Kanata Kara, also known as From Far Away by Kyoko Hikawa is a 14 volume shojo fantasy and one of my favorite manga series of all time! I can not tell you how many times I have reread this manga and I never get tired of it. Released between 1993 and 2003, From Far Away, follows ordinary high school student Noriko as she is propelled from her home in modern Japan to a strange magical world. Little does she know, her presence is the manifestation of an ancient prophecy that has the power to tip the balance in this new world. It has been foretold that the Awakening will arrive and awaken a monster known as the Sky Demon and bring destruction to the world. With mercenaries from every kingdom closing in, Noriko must rely on the handsome warrior Izark, for protection. But, there is a dark secret Izark is hiding, that no one not even Noriko can know about.  What will happen to the two unlikely companions? And could Noriko be the Awakening?

Okay, so I will admit that the story is the typical girl gets transported to another world romance, with all the shojo cliches imaginable. However what makes this title stand out is that Noriko, unlike most fantasy stories where the heroine automatically speaks the language (be it magic or coincidence), has to learn the language gradually. So for the first couple of volumes Noriko takes the time to learn an entire language, and while she does get better over the course of the series, she still makes mistakes (though they are few and far between in the later volumes). This was the first time that I had ever seen something like this in a manga, and I wish more titles did this!

My Lover is a Stern God: Star Crossed Myth-Zyglavis Review

So here I am again binge playing a game on the first day of its release, but Zyglavis was just too good to pass up! I was pleantly surprised by this route, it is awesome! In the beginning Zyglavis is like a mix of Scorpio and Eisuke Ichinomiya, what with the constant spew of insults and the three second response time limit…But the more I played the more I enjoyed the route. This was a rare treat, and I am more than happy to give up a little sleep for this route!

Despite his initial coldness, Zyglavis is secretly the most compassionate of all the gods. Plus he’s gorgeous, just look at him, that long flowing hair, those penetrating eyes…

PokeNews: Celebi Distribution

This event is expired, but feel free to read this post anyway! Also check the bottom of the post for information about future Pokemon 20 Legendary Distribution Events! Check back on the first of each month for information about the newest Pokemon 2016 Legendary Distribution Event Pokemon!

So here we are coming off of the Pokemon high that was February, with Pokemon 20 dishing out more goodies! Today, March is the second month of the Pokemon 20th Anniversary Legendary Pokemon Releases! This month’s legendary is none other than the Gen II Pokemon, Celebi!

Non-Japanese second genners are still a little miffed about the unused GS Ball Event in the original Crystal version. I’m still a little sore about that to this day, but the remakes, Heart Gold and Soul Silver eventually kind of rectified the situation. During the event trainers would have received a mysterious GS Ball, which upon placing it in the shrine in the Ilex Forest would trigger the appearance of the legendary Pokemon Celebi.

Celebi, the Time Travel Pokemon, is a Psychic Grass type Pokemon. It has been released several times before, most recently for Pokemon X and Y in 2014 during a Pokemon Bank Event. So if you missed your chance to get Celebi from one of the earlier events, now is your chance.

The Celebi Event will be a Nintendo WiFi Distribution and will take place between March 1st to 24th 2016. In order to obtain Celebi, players must have a 3DS or New 3DS, and Pokemon X, Y, Omega Ruby, or Alpha Sapphire.

If you want more info about the other Pokemon Events for 2016, check…..
